Rights of citizen is given only in a democratic country and those rights are given to a citizen to use it for his full freedom. But are we using our rights properly. All of us have read about these rights in our social studies subjects as a very important question. I'm sure that most of the teachers do not stress the importance of this in real life. Let's crete an awareness among ourselves with this thread and know more about the rights of a citizen

Hi Anu!
I too welcome this topic which is of tremendous relevance and importance in today's situation. The Founding Fathers of the Constitution were wise enough to guarantee certain rights which are fundamental and inalienable. The nature of these rights are so that these can not be taken away or abrogated under any situation except in an emergency.Sadly people in generally are vaguely aware of these valuable rights and thus people in power take full advantage of this. Hope your attempt to make them aware succeeds.
It's true some of these basic civil rights are grossly violated but that's because of our ignorance. There are some landmark cases where the Supreme Court came to the rescue and I hope to deal with those cases in the course of our discussion.
Thank You everyone for your support...!! I hope that you will also add some inputs according to your views...
The development of constitutional rights in India was inspired by historical documents such as England's Bill of Rights, the United States Bill of Rights and France's Declaration of the Rights of Man.
