It is Children's day today and I really wonder as I see all those innocent faces in the streets if we are doing enough for them. Are we taking steps to stop child labour, illiteracy and child abuse?

No we all are not doing enough for the children.Even we are not caring of children.
Whatever we are doing for children is not enough I think we should take more action to give primary education to them, and to stop child labour.
Children needs proper time of their parents whose parents are on job and other type of children needs proper love and care whose parents are rude and pressurize them.
Certainly, we are not and whatever little bit is done is beyond recognizable. I think those who are in the hot sits and have the power to do the same, their attention should be drawn towards them. Apart from this, each and every individual could play a vital role in it if positive results are to be seen tomorrow...!
child labour is rising day by day ...and what are we doing..?we are just sitting back and enjoying all this. its time we do something worthwhile.
child labour and child abuse is something we need to deal with first and then we can think if we are doing atleast satisfactory for young citizens of our country.
Actually we turn our face and pass away. We have our own personal problem. We don't have time to mess with dirty people.
This is what many of us think. Bitter truth of India.
Child labour is crime in our nation. but still we can find lot many childrens working. we have to make a strong law against child labour and we need to take care of the children.
there are very less childrens who are living life with good and best care and lot of childrens facing labour work and no study that is very big problem and some are also involve in crime and begging etc.

Here, I agree with your views Santosh and I think those who are studying in school and colleges are the lucky ones and fortunate ones as they have been given the opportunity of education. In fact, these lucky few could also help bear the responsibility on their soldiers of helping the poor and unfortunate children of our country. They should spread their knowledge and education in whatever way they can to these little unfortunate children...!
Child labour is the curse of our country and many countries banned Indian products on account of this.
I thinks in today's life there is a bit improvement in children care
It's truly heartening to see so many of us actually discussing this issue with so much passion and agreeing to the fact that children in our country are being exploited. This mindset is what is required to bring in a change. We can start with our own neighbourhood and do our bit however small it may be.For example..we can teach the maids' children at home or discourage marriage atearly age and so on.
Lopamudra,
Is there marriage still taking place in early ages?In our state Kerala it is not possible.
Lopamudra there is still children marriages are taking place in my state in some villages some are finding and others not.
I know, it is not possible in Kerela..that is the advantage of having 100% literacy and most people in that state are well educated. In Bihar, UP,Haryana, I have seen people from the weaker economic section getting their daughters married off at 16.It is against the law but it is happening.

Lopamudra, this is happening even in a cosmopolitan city like Pune! There are many slums which are formed by immigrants from Bihar, UP, AP and Karnataka where girls younger than 18 are married off, but that is mainly because the parents are concerned about the safety of their daughters in those surroundings.
Kalyani, it is sad that early marriages are happening in cosmopolitan cities also. I also agree that there are unfortunate incidents taking place in slums which is surely a cause for the parents to worry. But they need to understand that marriage is not the solution and such things can happen even after marriage. Their husbands are not going to sit with them all day long to take care of them. If they are married off at 16, they end up being a mother by 17 and of two kids before they turn 20. Girls of that economic strata are not even well nourished to undertake that stress even if we don't discuss their incomplete biological development at that age.
Many child marriages are taking place some of them are focused by media. But some are unknown to us.

We all must take some response on this.

Yes Lopamudra, it really is sad and especially when we are already into the 21st century and claim on the way to becoming a superpower! The mentality behind such marriages is usually to revert responsibility towards the daughter. Parents get her married off so that she becomes someone else's responsibility and hence they are spared her burden, yet what happens is quite the reverse, most girls are mentally and physically abused by husbands and majority of them have to return home, more saddled with responsibility than ever with 2 or 3 children now! Lack of awareness, education, poverty, etc. are behind it all and worse, total apathy on the part of government towards such issues!
