I do not understand why rape is considered so heinous a crime. In fact, the woman suffers not so much from actual rape but from the social reactions, ridicule and stigma. A man rapes a woman once but society rapes her repeatedly by ridiculing and stigmatizing her.
If you really wish to give justice to rape victims, change the social outlook. Let a woman not suffer the insult and stigma after rape. Punishment for rape- death or some thing else- is devoid of any meaning.
