People in India are affected by personality cult. Left front may deny but fact remains that Jyoti Basu was a great leader in West Bengal. The personality of Jyoti Basu also greatly contributed to so long left rule. Possibly, exit of Jyoti Basu from West Bengal affected adversely the prospects of left front.

i think people experienced bitter memories in the context of nandi gram happenings and singur when left front government used coercive means to execute their resolutions, left govt. did not paid adequate respect and compliance in terms of democratic procedures, they just failed to feel the nerves of the public. they used military tactics to solve local and current issues.
