Well, I only know that people believe it that Santa Claus spreads gift on that day.. Don't know anything more about it.

WE celebrate christmas with lots of enjoyment . We share some exciting gifts with each other. But do you really know who started or who introduced this system of giving gifts?

There are different versions about this. None is a confirmed version. But it doesn't stop me from meeting my christian friends and exchanging gifts.
We have similar customs of gifting during harvest season which is followed in many parts of South Indian farming or agricultural communities , when the elders gift the younger members something of their choice depending on how well the harvest has gone..
