Great and it has been in operation since 1996. At London's Heathrow airport there are horizontal "escalators" which are also very long.
China is an example of technology. I read some day ago that when one over bridge damage China engineers make another one is few hours.
The Chinese think big and thus produce cost effective goods in very high volumes and thus find markets all over the world. Appiication of technology is a key factor in this.

Yes china's products are cost effective but they are also known for quality effective, poor quality.

I was recently told by some informed business man that the Chinese export inferior goods to India because we want cheap. But they sell better quality products to America where quality is more important than price.

Maybe but I have heard so many accidents taking place in Chines escalators I will avoid using one next time I go to China.
More than the Chinese it is Indian traders who buy defective goods at throw away prices and reap high profits back home. It is these practices which have given Chinese goods bad name in India. China is number one exporter and its international trade is to the tune of $3 trillion per year. If its products were shoddy they would not be number one. @ Suni are their staircases safe?
@vijai now that you have created doubt in my mind I will take extra care, thanks
This is the longest Escalator in China and has been functioning since1996. This moving Escalator ascends 173 feet vertically and takes Two and a half minutes to reach ground. An achievement indeed.
Earlier , they had the longest escalator at the ocean park in Hongkong overlooking the mountain views and the sea ...It was spectacular since one could see everything as one moved. Since then many such escalators including the Dragon escalator has been constructed in China ..
Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!
