My question is - why do we need to have coaches who cannot understand our language or are we that bad in games like hockey where we cannot find a good coach from our own country. English language learning is okay but if they will spend all their three four years which they get as top players, learning Languages instead fine tuning their playing skills, I am afraid we shall never be able to win any game in future.
By the way, have you ever heard any Korean, Chines, Russian, German, Dutch hockey/badminton players speaking in English? They all are better players than us because they take pride in self language and learning skills of the game more than wasting their time on learning other languages. I must add another factor here, all these nations were far behind in hockey from us but now they are far better as far hockey is concerned.
If Korean, Chinese, Russian, German, Dutch players are better players than us. Its because of their excellence In their game skills especially physical fitness. Moreover their team composition is not as varied as an Indian team. Here our teams are comprised of players from different states. English is the only language that has the ability to bind the team. Even if a 100 % Indian coach is employed, can a Punjabi coach communicate with a Malayalee player ?

Dear Sunil, I agree with you, but there is a risk of sending wrong messages if the coach uses broken language where accuracy counts very much.

A coach’s job is not to coach in patriotism and inject national pride in the players even if he is an Indian coach. He teaches the skills of the game . And the patriotism part is left to the players.
