If you believe in prayer in addition to medical treatment, okay. But what if you avoid doctor and medicines and depend solely on prayer? This may be equated to murder of patients. This is what happened to a couple. They hoped that the child would be cured of pneumonia by sheer power of prayer. They are charged with murder.

Now there is a medical system called " CAM,complementary alternative medicine." Alternative medicines like Ayurveda, aroma therapy etc are being used in conjunction with the main stream medicine, that is allopathy. Prayer is also included in the CAM. But not ONLY prayer.

Actually Ayurveda and Homeopathy, Unani systems are also medicine based. But faith healing is only reciting some prayers and expecting that patient will be cured. Whatever be system, some treatment to physical body is mist for cure. Natural theapy also cures patient by some types of baths and other processes. The Chinese system of acupuncture also involves use of needles on patient's body. Reiki also uses no medicine but there is some physical contact that is said to cure. Massage therapy also helps in joint pain etc. Two days back I read an article on spanking therapy which is like massage. But here you use different types of sticks to beat various body parts mildly or with some force.

But faith haling does not even touch a patient. You may just pray and wish from a distance and patient is cured.

Prayer is a conversation between god and human.Usually, when we are in problematic situations,we pray to god. So,there is no doubt in praying while at hospital bed.If we have belief,it will cure otherwise no possibility.Nobody should say that prayer is not powerful if it didn't cure the patient. But the praying person might not well in relationship with god. Also,Death is a curse given to human for our sins.We cannot stop it by prayers.

There is no issue with prayers as such. But prayers cannot be substitute for medical treatment. There are cases where only faith and prayer healing is considered enough to treat a patient.

Is prayer a part of healing science. Now doctors also recommend this. In many movies, when the disease is incurable, doctor says- God alone (or prayer) can bring miracle. The well wishers and family begin ringing temple bells and the patient gets right. But it is a matter of wonder that real life doctors also recommend prayer.

However, prayer has a psychological affect on a patient. But what if patient cannot even listen to the prayer or doctor. How will prayer help patient if he has no idea about this. Psychological affect of prayers on others can definitely be of no help to a patient. If prayer were so powerful, nobody would die of a disease. Prayer would do the trick.

All doctors are not atheist, they also believe in religions. I read at doctor nursing this message. " I treat you but God cure you"

Doctors are also human beings. Actually they are humans first and then docotrs. I don't understand why we look at them differently. They also have their limitations.

Earning is not wrong thing. You know tuation fees of one year for MBBS in government collage in about 2500. Expenses on one student is much more than it. balance expenses is bearing by public. So it is duty of doctor to serve public first.

It is duty of government to provide best medical treatment to all free of cost. But this is another matter. The issue is that prayer is not substitute for medical treatment. Doctors should treat patient with medical skill and not indulge in prayers instead.

If a doctor believes in prayer, let him believe. It's his prerogative. But let him not prescribe 3 prayers a day to cure diabetes.

For others, prayer is okay. But if a doctor resorts to prayer for a patient, this is admitting his failure as a doctor. He is not suitable as a doctor and for any job related to science. He would better join church as a priest.

Medical profession revolves round “ Cause and effect”. It finds the cause first and the effect thereafter. This will enable the doctor to proceed further to eradicate that causes a particular effect in a scientific and logical way. Where as a prayer can reveal neither the cause nor affect. In this condition a patient can never be cured.
