What should be the criteria to provide reservations in education and employment to uplift the backward people in our society?

Except in India, no where we can find reservations based on caste and religion. What does it mean?
Do all other countries and their governments not bother to uplift the backward people of their soceities?
Many countries do have their own welfare schemes to assist and uplift the backward people of their soceities. But, caste, race and religion are not the criteria for their welfare schemes.
They give this facility to genuinly required people. Even the Indian students get such benefit in the form of scholorships and aids in some foriegn countries.
Reservations is the most mis-used policy in India.

We cannot expect from the vote bank politicians to correct this. We all know how the mandal commission recommendations were handled.

The problem is that when we are reserving so much spaces , those who are fit for the seats maynot get it.This will reduce the quality of the whole system.
reservations affects the quality to a high extend.

we cannot get the best one for the reservation.we can only take the best one's out of the available one's.

The choice of selection is very less.
For an efficient system , we need the best.
Today,the world is growing fast and the competition is high in every field.So,we must get the best one.

I don't think that reservation criteria will be washed off in india.It will stay there.If someone tried to do that, voice will be raised against him saying that he is trying to help high class people..

Recently an international organization started the initiative to eradicate the caste system for reserving the oportunities. I believe few countries already joined the movement.

However, if we remove the entire reservation system, the backward people who doesn't have enough money and could not compete with other will always stay away from reaching the right oportunities and it will negatively affect India's future. That is the reason why I insist on having reservations based on the economic status instead of caste.

And of-course it is a very complex and hard procedure to do that. But remember any big thing starts with small excercise.

According to indian constituition , there should not be any discrimination based on caste,sex,religion,colour etc.

But when we are giving special reservations to some castes while others are treated as common category where the competition is more tough , is it indirectly a caste discrimination ?

Reservation is a topic demanding attention from all the corners of world;but it really exists in true terms in India where castes n races varies across the land.Actually,reservation should exist in all fields but merit should also play a part in reservation category in fields where it exists.Cocncession in fees n reserved quota both is unfair to the open category people who suffer when it comes to the edge where it matters.

but reservation decreases the chances for the correct person to take the seat.
its true that indian people belongs to different castes.
and there arises the beautiful concept of 'unity in diversity'

the thing is that,the right person should not miss the chance..

Finally I would like to request the following...

1. To the government and political parties.
Please stop dividing people based on the caste, region, language and religion. Do not try to identify the beneficiaries based on these tags to any of your welfare programs including reservations. You may temporarily benefit from the vote banks based on the above tags, but in the interest and unity of our nation it is too bad. Think how badly we divided our people by practicing it since last 60 years and take necessary corrective measures.

2. To all the people of my nation.
Please do not expect and accept any benefits from the government and politicians based on the tags of caste, region, language and religion. Do not allow and encourage the goverment and politicians to do so.

We cannot say people not to receive in benefits from government on the basis of caste or religion. India is not a developed rich country.On viewing the indian economy , money is not equally divided.That's why Gross National Product [GNP] cannot be depended completely to know the standard of life of people in developing countries like india.

In india, wealth is not eventually distributed.It is got distributed to two classes.Rich people have more % of the indian economy.

So,when government is giving the people benefits ; whatever may be the reason , people will always try to receive the most out of it.Competition is high in this world and survival of the fittest is the essence.so,all will try to become well.After all,we all are humans.

ya , i'm to you sridhar on one thing that politicians are upholding this for their own vote bank benefits.Because,no.of poor people are more in india and by helping them , they can easily grab their votes.

the discrimination on the basis of caste has increased just because of this political activities that they want the people to be divided to get votes from group by raising the group spirit...

So,
the government itself has to take necessary measures to monitor the reservation and the criteria should be revised for better implementation..

let the most required one get it ..

India is a democratic country..
All should have to get equal opportunities to come to the front of the society..
