I think If we will only give this type of counseling to students for only 2 0r 3 times in a month by the experts, then I think there can be no such problem which you mentioned.
And this education is not to be added in syllabus, we are talking about to give them counselling.I think for that we need not to become US

Santhosh,
You have some wrong concepts about sex education.Students are of varied tastes and thoughts.Of course some may be very inquisitive on sex.We can tackle them from giving a lecture on the same.So easily we can bring them to the right path.
Else as you told making India like US is a Himalayan Effort and then giving sex education is like camel going through a needle hole.

In my view girls are prone to rapid changes during their adolescence. They experience some new developments in their body.If not educated this developments will lead them to un necessary fear.So parents must care the rapid changes occuring in their body at the age of 12 onwards. They must be given some hints regarding the changes. Then teachers may call them in group or invidually to deliver some tips to be taken at this time.Boys may not be required such care. But in sex education all must be given equal importance.

You are taking negative way of this sex education Mr. Santosh kumar. Always people take interest about sex but its mean not a student will loose his interest from the study. This education is only want to give knowledge and right information about the sex.
India don't need to become US Type. India needs firstly theory. US do only practicals.

Anbul you are saying right. I am agree with your words. But you are saying boys know more about sex. Girls also know same knowledge as per boys. But its depends upon their frankness. Girls maturity at the age of 12 and boys maturity at the age of 14 is equal. So Both need equal education.

I agree with the topic.
In this modern world child born today has the knowledge of his father. It means that, we learn from them many things. So it is must for them to know about sex. Even if they are not taught they themselves involve in some mall practices, and we all know what it is and explore about it. This applies only for childrens who are in urban places. But in rural they have know knowledge of it and they are infected. Its because they attend only schools and they about the safety precautions. So, by teaching about sex in the schooling is the best way for preventing that.
In till December 2009 33 million peoples are affected with HIV/AIDS and 2 millions of them are under age of 15.
In 2008 2.7million people were newly infected and 430,000 were under 15.
Every day more than 7,000 people are infected and more than 300 per hour 280,000 of them are under age 15.
From this statistical data it known that young children are infected and so Sex Education should be made compulsory. Bad things reach more easily than good. Prevention is better than cure. So for preventing children from getting infected they should be taught about sex.
So sex education should be made compulsory for the school children and for youngsters too
In National channel a serial program used to be telecasted on sunday night at 8.30pm which teaches about the prevention method and the treatment ways. Government is taking steps also for prventing them.
Make a healthy world.[/quote]
Dear your statistics are completely right. So Youth is getting affected more. Youth needs this education more.

Teaching sex education, one needs courage and enthusiasm to spread the 'well being' of fellow people.'Sex education' must be treated not as an 'embarrassment' but as a simple guide in first 'respecting and understanding' our bodies and secondly how we can live in a healthy way.
If this education is not given at the right time, students get confused, they do not posses self-driven knowledge and may end up hurting themselves/someone to quench this thirst.'sex education' is also a part of knowledge-a part of the human living. It really plays an important role in everyone's life.
Most of dissolution of sex can be averted and controlled if the right information is available to not only the students, but also each and every individual; regardless of their caste/religion/state/country/ etc. This is etiquette and mannerism of a healthy living and managing the emotions well.
I have personally seen students (who have not been taught sex education) getting disturbed when they come across 'couples' or the 'kiss scenes' of movies. They do not feel happy to ask their parents their queries,as the parents retort and call them 'bad mannered children' or 'shameless people'.
Children are like flower buds, they are tender and soft;they require all kind of nutrition and care so that they can bloom out well. It is indeed a pleasant scene to watch a beautiful flower bloom. So also if we need a good garden filled with blooming flowers, good care and the right nutrition is required. The same applies for teaching the children 'sex education'

As per your Ideas I think for very few question there is no need of sex education.
I think if Govt. need then this things can be solved by very little effort.
so there is lot of other problems which is very big like terrorism we need to remove them first then full implementation of current education in villages when people will educated then these silly things they can understand easily.
When person get matured with education then this small things they can handle.

Santosh Kumar singh- There is nothing unique in India about sex being a taboo. Though the west are more open, they also restrict too open sex and some degree of restraint is exercised. In India, there have been no inhibitions in the past. the Ajanta and Elora caves and literary work of Vatsyayan "Kam sutra' testify. The hesitation in sex discussion and display arises from medieval influence. As sex is an important part of life, this should be part of sex education in schools. Like other subjects, sex education should also be related to age of children. Ideally, sex education should begin from sixth class. A this stage, children are a bit grown up and they need guidance about sex. Sex education need not be vulgar. But the children should be made aware of role of sex in family and society. Responsible sex behavior should be emphasized. Proper sex education will help eliminating sex crimes.
How can you say that educated person will not do crime. Most crimes news comes from educated family. In villages they follow Indian culture so there is not more crime.
Whatever rule and regulation that is followed by Indian is nice. Today result of crime come because of mixing of English culture.
So By this education people will openly talk about this things and will feel more comfortable to propose also.
This time its restricted because of less open talk.
So whatever in current is best for India.

The meaning of the word sex, as given in the dictionary, that is, sexual intercourse, appears to suit the context. Creating awareness about sex and its aspects amounts to sex education.
The very word sex is still a taboo in our society and treated as vulgar. We are yet to come a long way from the culture of shying away from the nude and semi-nude pictures that are etched on the temple architecture. In this scenario, it takes enormous, concerted effort at convincing people of the need and the larger benefits that could be derived out of the program and at ensuring its wider acceptability.

The success of the program, however, depends mainly on two aspects, that are, the content and the methodology. It calls for utmost care in preparation of the content that is to be taught and exposed to the students. It should be carved out in such a manner as to make it interesting and dignified and not be obscene, even remotely. The task should be assigned to experts who would keep in mind the age of the learners, the country’s culture, etc.
Swetha- you have rightly commented that sex education is likely to raise some problems as teachers as well students may not be ready. But sex is an important aspect of life. A beginning is to be made. The study material is to be carefully prepared and teachers also to be trained for teaching this delicate subject. Once we make the beginning, everything will be okay after teething troubles for a year or two.
If the Union HRD Ministry is serious about translating its well-intentioned program into action, it shall cause to draw up a common sex education manual by educationists who are experts for use by all the states, instead of leaving to the states themselves to draw their own manuals - leading to varying standards. It should also carry all the states with it explaining the intended advantages of the sex education to adolescents and try to dispel any doubts and misapprehensions and ensure its uniform implementation through out the country, as several States - including Gujarat, Maharashtra and Karnataka - have at present expressed their reservations and banned sex education.
I think If Govt need to provide sex education then there is no need to include in course after 6th standard.
I think in all newspaper Govt. should compulsory to write one column for sex education daily in all news paper. Then all public will read daily then in such little effort all will get sex education.
So If good effects come then it can be continue.

According to me....
No
Its not something we should teach...
Everyone learn it at right time..
When we were at school we havn't been teached sex.. But we know it..
If we educate them at early age it might create an extra interest about sex among them.
It will teach them to use condoms... but it might also increase sex before marriage rate..
So NO...

Amit,
You also have the thought that sex education is teaching how to sex,how to be it safely etc.
During adolescence period ( 12 to 19 years) human body undergoes many changes.Stanley Hall calls this "the period of stress and strain , storm and strife " .Sex education at this stage will ameliorate his/her mental tensions. The curriculum should be devised with a view to integrate sex education in biology, physiology, health and hygiene etc.Special films intended for education may be displayed in the school.
