I had heard many times and read at various places that might is right. I did not really know the meaning when I saw a practical example of the same. The example is my very own personal experience. It goes something like this:
One of the most hopeless things in India is the traffic. People hardly have any traffic sense and that is what causes many accidents, in my opinion. Hundreds of freak accidents take place in this huge country and not even a handful of them are reported. Most of the accidents take place due to lack of commonsense. This ‘accident’ like situation that I saw with my eyes is still very much fresh in my memories.
It was a good topic to write on and so here I am trying to present the incident as honestly as possible. In India, according to traffic rules, it is ‘keep left’ – vehicles are driven from the left hand side of the road. What I saw was an auto driver who was ahead of me by around 15 meters or so, suddenly turned to the right side of the road.
This means he was directly becoming a stumbling block for those who were coming from the opposite direction. Maybe, he wanted to make a stop there. But he turned so suddenly that the vehicles coming from the opposite direction were taken by surprise and one of them found it hard to control his bike abruptly.
The auto driver didn't give any signal before turning and he was totally to be blamed at that point in time. There was a mild collision as it was expected. The auto driver beat up the poor boy who was riding a bike for ‘coming in his way’ when the biker was at no fault at all. Everyone who saw that knew who was at fault and who was innocent. But no one spoke anything and left away.
Due to the increasing traffic all over, incidents like these always happen almost everywhere. Sometimes, it happens due to the heavy traffic and no one is at fault. At times it happens when one of the two people are at fault. There are occasions when people get into scuffle and neither of them is ready to back off. Words soon translate into punches and things take unpleasant and unwanted turns.
However, things aren't very common when only one person dominates the other. Even rarer are the occasions when the innocent person faces the brunt of the situation just because he is weak and cannot resist.
But it is indeed the increasing number of vehicles and population that has to be blamed in the first place. The space remains as it is and it is getting congested day by day with the ever-increasing number of pedestrians, cyclists and all kinds of autos plying on the road.
If any solution isn't found for this problem, we will soon see a drastic picture where the government will be forced to intervene with stricter rules being laid down. And what about the constant pollution the vehicles are causing everywhere?
Introduction:
Many a times, it is essential to advocate many welfare measures in order to attract girls to return to school for education as it is principal part of life as the better gender needs to be educated more so that all the conventional blind beliefs would be slowly removed from the perception of individuals. It is always said that it is ladies who always deal with many restrictions to their juniors and in order to find the right way of living one should always read and unite all these ideas. In the recent attack on a social activist while she was inside one small village nearer to capital, she was vehemently opposing the child marriage which was been conducted there, and then within seconds she was attacked by a group of people, think of a situation where she is alone and is being attacked by a small mob yet she carefully comes out from that situation.
Solo strength:
How she was rescued, as no one there to save her, she is good at karate, and was learning and mastering this art and she used her skills to protect herself from the attacking mob who were in support of child marriage out there. Though she was hurt, the injuries are not fatal and critical yet she succeeded and saved her own life and then she came back and reported the incident. This is one such brilliant example where one can find a way out in such recent traits of attacks on ladies, this is one answer and that is to enhance the basic power so that while in danger you may be injured but still you can come out clean and secure from the endangering situations and in this way, the basic tenets of security is not to depend upon others but to empower oneself so that one can still fight against all the odds and in this manner the basic tenets of security is managed with it in full scale.
Braveness of Rani Laxmi Bai:
In the history of India, we can find numerous example, illustrations and legends where we can find that ladies have played the pivotal role in determining the strength and in this way the perfect example is Rani Laxmi Bai, who single-handedly defended British, East India company and halt their progress, she could do it successfully, if not there were traitors inside of her own army, otherwise with her courage even modern weapons of East India company still could not reduce her power to advance against them. So, in history one can find numerous examples where ladies have shown their braveness and other acts of courage so it is high time, girls should learn how to combat if at all they fall prey to such situation and for this it is essential for all parents to look and think of such situation in serious.
Bicycle gifts fiasco:
Still, there are some instances when some tries hard to cheat the system and it is true that a system able to know it and for this they also advance some fences while performing and dealing with welfare measures. There is one scheme of government is to distribute bicycles to girls who are appearing for class ten board examinations as this is the prized possession where most of girl have left school after class seven or eight and for this in order to motivate them and their parents in order to send them to school this scheme is nice one and also it has shown rich benefits in earning reputation of completing education of girls there. It is also true that there are some instances where the parents are sending their girls to school till the tenth board examination at the time they will be getting bicycles. Sometimes, what is appalling is that some of them do not reach class on time, and after certain specific time, when they will have to reach school, they tend to come in order to get the attendance and then they receive bicycle by appearing for examination.
Then, they receive bicycle and then they tend to sell it for hand some money to shop keepers and receive money from them, what I am telling here is that it is not permanent in each case but it is prevalent and this trend is there for all the time and for this government should look this aspect of life as with proper prevention mechanisms they can control this phenomena. As the sole aim of government in giving out bicycle to girl students is to convenient them while reaching at school as with bicycle they can easily reach at home without any sort of difficulties and for this it is a sole matter of urgent importance as government should look this in strict manner so as to check this after getting bicycles these should not be sold to shop keepers.
Proper check and balance is the need of the hour:
This is an example of how a sound decision making can sometimes turn into some other way when the proper check and balance have not been carried out and proper mechanisms have not been done in a secure manner. In order to constitute a proper law is not the sole discretion with it one should look into how these laws should be properly executed and also how these laws are taking shape after implementation as government must see the third party should not be getting rich dividends from all of these welfare policies. It is the duty of government to check whether girls are coming with bicycle or not or they have sold it somewhere.
All these need to be taken seriously with due heart and mind. While implementing policies government must looked into the economic and financial part of it so as it will not be making any such disturbances to the entire economy with any such of widest part of imagination otherwise if economies suffer while implementation of these policies as these can have long standing impact on social and economic structure of any country and in this manner the entire back bone of economy can face stiff resistance from everywhere without any such doubts and limitations.
Micro level management:
In short it is high time one should properly review the entire policy matter of how it is performing at the micro level as well as macro level, in the micro level the beneficiaries should be observed and how their improvement to life should be done and for this it is important to keep a strong look on how these beneficiaries are protecting these welfare schemes or they are simply entering into the frame in order to get these freebies, all these need to be carefully considered and amended and for this it is entirely a part of importance is to watch what you have circulated and how these people are benefited from it and from it you can get some valiant and important information which no one knows can work wonder and this can lead to a complexly new set of freebies administrator can find and then can implement.
At the macro level one should think of entire expenditure structure of how much you are going to spend on any scheme and how this will affect yours ongoing economies, as all these will be done from tax-payer’s pocket and for this it is of utmost importance is to search for nice investment opportunities coupled with benefit schemes that will not hurt your economy from the wildest sense of imagination. There is opinion due to some welfare scheme the state of economy is in feeble state, it may be true or may not be but one should diagnose about it and find the way out from it in order to get back to express way instead of a slow and steady muddy road of economy. One should always think about the path to recovery otherwise slow the country could face the black hole of borrowings which has endless meaning and no one can revive the economy from that state.
Roadblocks:
It is of some importance to find the relevance of any scheme and how it is performing. Here, is one latest example of how a sound intended scheme can go in a wrong way if not was introduced with sufficient proper preparation. In Orissa, a fresh scheme introduced by the state government is all about improving the nutritious value of children, mostly minor school going children. This scheme was started at a micro level as the government wants it as an experiment and for this it started in three governments run schools in three districts.
This scheme is all about giving one tablet which will give enhance nutritious elements within children’s health and one more tablet for curing and preventing children health care and diseases. This is a noble intention as for world health organization, children in India especially girls consume less nutritious food and this is a path to improve health care of them, as we know in government schools most students come from poor sections of society and they hardly have food and cloths and for this school is giving them free food and clothe and in addition to this the vitamin tablets would have improve their health to a greater extent. It is fitting government distributed tablets to three schools in three different districts, predominantly coastal regions.
The circular is all about giving students one tablet of nutritious vitamin and the other for good health, but the teachers gave students three or four tablets as most of nutritious vitamin tablets are consisting of irons and other calcium and for this with the advent of high degree of irons their health deteriorated and they were admitted to hospital on time, and all the students are now healthy but there are some side effects due to high degree of dosages. The government should have first appointed some medical professionals before implementing such schemes. Otherwise, a seminar concentrating on teachers should be allowed where, concerned teachers were taught about procedures in giving medicines as well as they should be educated about pros and cons of using such medicines.
Reactions:
What is known from the first investigation of authorities that teachers have given three doses of medicines to students instead of one and this lead to overdose of medicines and causing various side effects and other illnesses. One thing the government has done admirable is to introduce these medicines in schools which are nearer to town, in which the hospital is the only ISO certified hospital in the state. Ambulance rushed students to hospital within no time, and the essential treatment available for them and diagnose by many doctors out there and within minutes the side effects are controlled. Here, the question is about implementation procedures which can be best in the circumstances when this program should have been implemented prior to very satisfactory preparation and managing pros and cons of any project in earnest investigation.
In another instance, there is one scheme in which it is declared that the town roads are to be converted into model roads at par with cities and for this such and such amount is sanctioned from higher authorities. Paper advertisements are circulated to vernacular dailies as well as local cable channels airing appeals to people to kindly cooperate with them. This all goes to prove that something concrete is going to be done and we all are ready for it and dreams are there for talented high class roads in the making near to our vicinity. During one month, concretes, and other essential elements to prepare roads have been brought with trucks and tractors, and yet disastrous roads in and around areas are now becoming narrower day by day. Months passed, the same materials are scattered there, now dogs and puppies are climbing on these as for them it seems to be the cleanest place. Already narrow streets roads are now becoming a road just like a tiny patch inside farm lands.
Road politics:
There is no sign of new roads. On the other hand owing to all these derbies the road is slowly getting into narrower one than ever before. Responsibility lies to which authorities, road building ambition is not there, then why such fallacy of incidents of creating and designing a wholesome ambition inside minds of people, which are not a reclusion considering the state of affairs in which administrative authorities are following. There are slogans of building infrastructure and other forms of construction to existing and ease the moments of citizens and it is also true that with the development of infrastructure related development and with it comes the renewed form of industrial progress that ensures employment opportunities. With faster development, more and more vehicles will run amidst those roads and they will need water and lunch and other essential things and for this there will be many more shops, and in between if any hotel gives good food in honest manner, then it becomes popular.
Slowly, it employs many persons and in this manner the employment opportunity grows, and when real-estate agents realized that these localities are now more important than others, which might not have been in the recent past, they will buy and sell lands there, more and more people will buy those lands and civilization will built up there within no time. Within a short span of time, there would be more and more markets and shops and if the demand is high then shopping malls will reach there within no time and big shops and shopping malls will be standing up there and that will generate huge employment. All these depend upon the state of roads and availabilities of basic amenities and other forms of meeting citizen’s wants. Welfare government should think of totality and here they should work for the overall development of all aspects of life and how to meet people’s demand should be the motto for them. If people will find their life is as easy as they cannot think of it then they will praise the government, and in this circumstances there will not be any such gifts to the people to buy their votes or other forms of amenities as people will so motto comes to voting booth to support their welfare government in their fullest capacities.
The cable news era:
In the advent of private news channels through cables in the first part of 1990s, there are huge surge of news channels all around and they seems to be creating news in order to improve their TRPs and with an increased TRPs, advertisers will come to their channels in large numbers to get a complete new trend of revenue generation. It is all about to give the news faster and for this they rely heavily on sources instead of getting authentic news. The benefit from sources is multi prolonged as they will say that this news is not genuine, if it is found untrue in reality on the other hand they will see it the truth if it eventually becomes the authentic news. All these are characteristics of yellow journalism which we have read in social studies while at school as this are like to be toppling the elementary concept where the news should be in the line of truth and nothing else.
There are some instances where some news channels are now showing sponsored programs of particular political party which is unwanted and unnecessary. It can be questioned when political parties are showing advertisements of their achievements as these can be questioned but still these can be accepted considering the minimalists time in which they are showing the program, on the other hand now some channels are showing almost half an hour sponsored program as it is not necessary.
Now, in most cities, consumers have to pay for channels, if they are with satellite televisions or with cable television through boxes, and these customers want to see the program that should be neutral and not custom made or sponsored programs. Here, some one can say that there are channels which show exclusive sponsored programs and what should be done to these channels, these channels are home shop marketing channels and people can buy jewelry and other ornaments from there through are paid or post money paid basis. But the sponsored programs telecast by parties, on news channels for more than 25 minutes does not justify it as these can be avoided by news channels. People will definitely look beyond this and want to find out, what are genuine programs which the news channels are broadcasting from the studio.
Future of democracy:
In every electoral systems, there are many more facts and related attributes which are controlling the basic shape of the future of its development as the mature political system. In order to become a mature and vibrant political system, the entire spectrum of people as well as civil society should lean towards making the democracy vibrant and illustrative, some where we find some part of civil society is against the basic tenets of democracy as they are supporting the destructive part of democracy in large numbers. Many a time, when there are agitations in and around capital lead by eminent civil society members, they are more shouting against parliamentary form of democracy and against current politicians instead they are forgetting on the subjects they are shooting for.
Soon, the entire mass will shout against deliberative form of democracy and they soon forget about on what motto they are united with. This is one sort of the bad side of these agitations in which they are trying to find a single trait in which they can criticize the government in a huge manner. In this manner part of media channels as well as civil society is moving towards the path of other side of democracy which is not only deviating the theme of agitation on a theme to protect certain kind of masses on the other hand, the proper motive behind agitation of creating a pressure group situation is slowly beginning to slip and the main motive of welfare of masses is not being utilized properly in this form of pressure groups.
Men and their so-called cruelty
We can notice that the deteriorating condition of women in India is perhaps the most talked about subject in political, literary and social circles these days. Anyone worth his name is painting such a sorrowful picture of women in order to earn sympathy for them which can mold even the hardest of peoples in their favor. It has become a fashion to paint men as cruel, barbaric and the ones taking undue advantage of helpless women. Even men feel ashamed having born as men, reading or listening those stories which in most cases ridicule them or highly exaggerated. But the stories presented so authentically that any listener would believe them without thinking twice. However, most of the stories are neither true nor all men are cruel but in most cases, women are themselves to be blamed for their sorry condition. I know that I am going to face a heavy criticism for my post but I cannot help writing the truth.
Man is responsible for domestic violence – False
Men always face the allegation of beating their wives and most social workers, writers and women organizations but no one accepts the fact that men are always on the receiving end otherwise all rules support woman and woman take full advantage of these rules. There are cases of violence or wife beating in reference to dowry but a man was never responsible. If you study a dowry case honestly, you will invariably find it initiated by another woman. Man is merely a weapon in the hands of woman who acts on the direction of a woman. No one goes into the facts behind domestic violence where a simple statement by a woman is enough to send a man behind the bars but a man has no say, even if he provides enough evidences in his favor.
Almost everyone knows that a woman has unlimited rights under section 498A to accuse her ‘relatives in-law’ for ‘Dowry demands and atrocities’ which can see all her husband’s relatives land in jail without any delay. The relatives sent to jai in such cases include the ones who have never seen the woman who has filed the case. There is another fact and even the courts know it that in more than 50% cases the men find themselves framed but punished because our law favors women. Still woman is considered weak compared to men who have no rights whatsoever.
Sexual harassment – It is both sided
The men are framed in almost all sexual harassment cases and even if any man really found involved in sexual harassment case, he is mentally sick. I should agree that some men are corrupt and mentality sick but so are women, who can go up to any extent for self-benefit. Generally, a normal man does not indulge in such acts because no man with self-respect would like to destroy his image for something not as worthy. I am not counting mentally ill people who commit such crimes but there are cases of women indulging in such acts although most such cases involving women as offender come rarely in daylight for different reasons, maybe men are not as fussy as women to make these cases public.
Another fact which is very common in cases of women involving in sexual atrocities on men are that women if caught red handed putting all blame on men and escape easily. People seem to believe that women do not or may not commit such acts. Women otherwise use man as ladder for their benefit offering themselves as bait but never proved guilty due to Indian mentality of the men who are themselves not interested to prolong the matter in most cases.
Man is head of the family – False
Our society is considered man oriented society and on face value it looks like so, but this is not the whole truth. Practically man is a follower of woman and in most cases; he has to obey a woman without having any of his say whatsoever. But most people who are out to prove women as sufferer would never agree with me because they have a set trend of looking at this matter with a different angle- The woman-oriented angle. I have myself written lots of articles clearly describing that woman of our country is not the same as she used to be a couple of decades back, at least she is not being oppressed by a man if at all she being treated ill. There is a woman behind the scene if a woman is suffering anywhere.
As far head of family is concerned, it is limited to name in the Ration Card, otherwise the reality is entirely different. A family is run by a woman be it mother or wife. A man has no say at all in most matters, a man must do as directed by a woman at the most he is consulted but that is about all as far his being head of the family. Watch any TV serial and you will see what I mean. Most men sit in a corner in total silence while women doing all the talking and taking decisions, men are allowed to shake their heads in agreement. And please do not ell me that stories and serials for entertainment or created out of imagination, the reality is as good as our imaginations, stories and literature are true mirror of today’s’ society.
Man is second fiddle - True
Fact is, all decision in a family come from a woman. Post marriage a man in most cases finds him unable to maintain relations with siblings or even with his parents as normal as he used to have. In most cases a woman, his wife decides how to deal with them, how much respect they deserve and in cases, most men find it a safe strategy to oblige them in order to keep their houses and mental peace intact. The man who always dreamed of staying with his parents or keeping them with him to support them in their old age depends on his wife to decide about such matters. Even the respect man’s parents deserve, measured on a scale set by a woman. This all may sound funny but are unpleasant facts, which are hard to deny. Moreover, the society is full of such unpleasant relations that you can see in your neighborhood if not in your own household. Men play only secondary roles in running a household and that needs no proofs, they are limited to nod their head to make them look part of the establishment. Man cannot even compete with his servant where it comes to dispute a decision taken by lady of the house, because a servant is always in a better position, who can always say a ‘no’ but man has no such rights if the decision comes from his wife.
Conclusion
Man is a tool for woman and our society will have to learn it as fast as it can. The present situation is direct result of getting cheap publicity of so-called intellectuals and groups of feminists who are not honest in judging the actual situation of today’s woman. Some cases of atrocities might be true but it is a common problems not limited to Indian scenario. The problem of sex discrimination exists in almost every society of the world including advance societies.
Women want extra attention in every society compared to their male counter parts, this is true including western world, therefore leave no stone unturned and to get it they even defame men for atrocities. It is high time we rise to occasion to solve the problem of increasing distances in between the two sexes. Women should treat men with more respect, as men have had enough and want to have some relief now. What I feel is that all men are not cruel, feminist need to grow up and seek equality for all and that obviously includes men.
Introduction:
With the advent of multi-national companies (MNCs) into the Indian soil and more and more sectors opening up to private players, opportunities for our young and dashing professionally and technically trained young people have increased inland and outside. The taboo of the yesteryears of Indian women confining themselves to the four walls of her in laws’ houses is of a bygone connotation.
With inflation on the rise and human wants soaring, the days of a solitary member earning for the family are gone and more and more women and brides are now employed. We have seen days when a woman in service had to stay unmarried and secluded throughout for her life. Now things have changed and life has become more challenging. An earning woman is a goose laying golden eggs and her marriage is assured as she is the most sought-after bride of the society.
Wife’s wife:
The husband of a working woman is jocularly called as his ‘wife’s wife’. The coinage of this word is a denotation error, though it has a wider connotation. We had never heard such words before. We are puzzled with the idea of a wife having a wife. These words were first used by the famous novelist Mr. Chetan Bhagat, an ultra modern, brilliant personality who is a MBA from IIM, Ahmadabad. Anusha, his wife, is a branch manager as Mr. Bhagat who is working as an executive at Hong Kong in a reputed bank.
Chetan says that he presses his wife’s legs and serves her evening tea as she returns home from the bank extremely tired. He claims that he is her ‘wife’s wife’ at present. Mr. Bhagat is a man of different type and temperament. He is not a envious as men are of their wife’s rise and promotion. He is very happy that his wife got promotion, and he explores this as an opportunity to show his talents in other fields where he is equally or more competent. He never tried to get a better position than his wife; rather he tendered his resignation from the bank job to concentrate more on his writings and home-keeping.
Reverse role:
He sees working women performing a reverse role. Men performed this role from time immemorial, and now this is the turn of women to do the men and vice-versa. A man with a working wife may not need to toil hard to earn money as he does not have to carry the burden of his family all by himself. We are very familiar with the word ‘housewife’ and now, in the new scenarios, a word, such as ‘house husband’ may be used. The society should accept the new concept without any hesitation. It is a folly to get upset when somebody calls the husband of a working wife as wife’s wife.
Bhagat is a top class celebrity who has a couple of films made on his novels. The famous film “Three Idiots” in Hindi is the story of “Five Point Someone” written by him. His writings are so powerful and popular that one would never love to leave a page until one finished the book. According to Mr. Kawal Khurana, a marriage expert, a number of men now are ready for the reverse role of a husband as wife. This would give them immense pleasure and ample time to engage in the area of activity they are adapt at. They give enough independence to their wives succeed in their hobbies.
Intelligent quotient:
A survey conducted by James Clyne, the intelligent quotient (IQ) specialist, shows that women have out shore men in brain-power and work-performance. A woman can handle a number of works of all at a time (multi-tasking) and complete all by herself. A man is found to be failing or half-hazard in such a work atmosphere. A century ago, men were a perfect five points better than their woman counterpart. Supporting that men are satisfied with their reverse role, the question arises how far women are satisfied with the performance of men in the home front. Very often, it is seen that the home keeping of men are not appreciated by women. Even though the kitchen is cleaned, saris ironed or bed-sheet spread, and women do it again. Women accomplish the job half accomplished.
Conclusion:
The abhorrence of the Japanese women towards bearing and rearing a child is well-known. The common wish of working women is also reflected in the similar manner world-wide. This shows that they are apprehensive of perfect rearing of their children by their counterparts as they themselves have no time and patience at their disposal to take care of their children. The working women prefer promotions to pregnancy. We have seen so far that a working woman is preferred and adored by her husband while her husband has a torrid and uncomfortable time in playing the role of his wife’s wife unless he is a Chetan Bhagat.
Introduction:
In the recent years, we have come across thousands of old age homes across the country mainly isolated in nature established by philanthropists, non-governmental organizations and by landlords. While the philanthropists and non-governmental organizations manage the older age homes themselves and through their employees without any cost to the inmates, the isolated old age homes are more neat and clean and well-maintained owing to the payments they receive from the occupants. Not that the non-governmental organizations don’t receive external contribution, but instances of excellent house-keeping are few and far between.
Overall, the concept of the establishment and running of old age homes is a welcome step to give a fillip to the lives of senior citizens who are the subjects of neglect in the society as unwanted elements. If their family discounts them, the society considers as an impediment to development and progress. The government does not seem to be having them in its perception except during elections. In the recent years, life-expectancy has improved with more of diet consciousness, required doses of exercises and tremendous headway of medical sciences. The primal age population is bound to increase with the death rate declining and this augurs well for the country, notwithstanding the fact that the percentage of the older population is in ascendancy.
The story of a father:
A man is born to die. But he passes a number of stages before he meets his doom. From a baby, he becomes a child and then adolescent, youth, middle-aged and old. A baby needs care and custody, a middle-aged man earns and spends more for his family than for himself, but an old man is sluggish, less active or inactive and often needs his son’s support and strength. An old man’s is the story of neglect and insensitiveness as the give-and-take formula does not work well in his family. What he has done in his life-time is perceived as his duties as he is dumped by his own children when he becomes invalid, inactive without adequate income. So, the primary matter is money and not the relationships he had established with his son during his life time. This is the story of a father, and the less said about the mother is better.
A mother has some value, if an earnings father is there, but with only the mother surviving, her plight is better forgotten. Many of us might have gone through Fakir Mohan Senapati’s (Famous Odia writer) “Dak Munsi” (Post man) where a retired post man was the subject of neglect by his son and his wife because of his low pension income, old age and diseases. All his sacrifices of the past to make his son a British official was simply forgotten as selfishness and false vanity overtook him. The eminent Odia writer did highlight a deep-rooted and harrowing social problem to cast a deep impression on the modern day son. After about a hundred years of his short story (Dak Munsi), the same problem haunts the society in no mean-manner.
Parents get sieved and separated from the family:
The United Nations Organization (UNO) in its report on older people has come out with a shocking statistics about 71% of them have no choice but to work as laborers only to earn and eat. It is found that an overwhelming majority of sons getting excellent services and reputation have forgotten their parents and prefer to live without them. Some of them leave them at old age homes so as to free themselves from the bondages of rearing their parents. They don’t realize the dreams once their parents had to be among the entire family memberships of the son and the bride and his grandsons and daughters. They had dreams of a retired, luxurious life without any labor or bother. But in real terms, parents get sieved and separated from the family which, all the time, they thought their own.
There was no ‘Father’s Day’ or ‘Mother’s Day’ in India two decades ago. Now, we have the fiasco of these auspicious days in line with the Western countries. Does this give anything to the father or the mother? They are remembered for a day each in a year, suffering oblivion for the rest of the time of the year. This is farcical. Observing a day with pomp and ceremony and forgetting 364 days is a fun only enjoyed by the children without amusing the parent who is left in the lurk. Parents have given everything to their children what they were capable of during their active and earning period. They were hopeful of getting some return during their heydays. But, any neglect by children to them is a bolt from the blue.
Child is the father of a man:
Children changed by false vanity and ample selfishness seldom realize that their behavior towards their parents may reflect in the same manner when they will be at the receiving end. When they grow old, their children will cite their personal example to treat them and greet them in the similar manner. The words of the ancient poet and philosopher that ‘bad son is a possibility, but bad mother is not’ are prophetic. The mother, despite being overlooked or rebuked by children, does not pray for his children’s misery. It is also said ‘mother and motherland are superior to heaven’. But let it not be a slogan only.
Conclusion:
Realization and repentance are in store for the prodigal sons. However, this repentance will come only at a time when parents will not be there anymore. Idealizing or adoring parents posthumous has no meaning. Similarly, performing annual death rites of the parents serves no purpose except that the society adores the action as a devoted son remembering his father. The real service to parents is to help them in times of need during their life-time which gives a brilliant sunny weather’ across their lips.
