It’s appearing on surface that Youth not interested in Army & Politics. But the same phenomena (youth not interested in joining on two different Profession (Army, Politics) do not give any validity that they somehow strongly co-or elated.
Defense - pay them more:
At some points some professions become attractive and unattractive professions have to be made more attractive. If private sector is rolling in profits and paying its employees fat salaries, well tax them and pay more salaries to defense officers. Wealth has to be shared in some logical manner. It is not lack of interest in politics but going up in politics is tough job and probably only new parties now offers chance to new people. All old parties already have dynasties in each and every constituency in the country. Young persons from nonpolitical families have to come up through parties like BSP. Tough road ahead - tough people are required. It is not every body's job unlike that of private corporate sector/public sector or government job.
Te popular belief that Young not joining politics as it offer less than IIM package is a wrong notion.
Fact is that politics offer to much to those who able to make it; So politics natural selection create a politics entry barrier .Most young who join other profession is come from that family, social, economic & world views background that they are unable to overcome the "POLITICS ENTRY BARRIER
These lead to a scenario in which what become visible that "Youth not like to join politics". Youth should not join politics directly as career. They should first establish an income source for them through some profession. Then they should enter politics as a part time activity along with their profession. As they get more responsibility either in elected posts or party machinery, they can change into full time politicians.
Only when they succeed in their professions, they will get support of family, friends and relatives for their political activities. Indian defense forces are corrupted as anything. There is as much corruption and buttering and favors as any government job! Plus the creamy layer and quality is not opting for defense forces. Only the average people are joining as u can see in more developed countries!!
Politics is the curse of India:
China is more developed because of foreign investment [Globalization].In economics I read, In India trade barriers in India have been removed only till 1991.They existed because of fear that small companies in India won’t survive!! A nation gets as good governance as the people deserve. Don't blame politics because if good people are afraid of entering politics, it’s because we don't vote the right people. The worst thing in us is that we would blame the whole world, except us for our faults.
There has been so much campaigning going on for voting for good governance in the country at this point. I want to ask how many of us actually know who the MP is from our constituency, how much attendance he has in the Lok Shaba, how much of the MPLAD money has spent?.We would spend hours blaming the politicians but are too lazy to go out and even check such basic information! Everybody would happily spend hours in a mall, but can't take off a few hours to vote. Still we would blame politics. Why don't we start blaming ourselves? Religion is the curse of India. Politics has a self-correcting mechanism built into it and provides a provision to make changes. Religion by its very nature is self-proclaimed truth. People are much more sentimental and are ready to take-to-arms and do moral policing in the name of preserving religion, with only a measured retaliation. There is not much counter-balance. In Politics, however corrupt one party is, there will be an equally corrupt opposition which will bring out the truth.
I am also engineer. But after completion of our engineering what we do. We go to other country for money. IT sector is giving money easy money to young guys .But what they are doing for noble cause. Nothing .Before joining politics we will have to be good human being.
In India there are three type of considerations.
1. Those that have money power. They don’t think to vote as they can buy anything for money.
2. After completing engineering and getting a good job in a good company he will also avoid to vote.
3. The middle class who need to vote as in there locality the public work never completed.
How to end caste politics in India?
It’s not that easy to ban caste based politics as India is such a diverse country and caste has got so much imbibed into the Indian psyche that it would take some time and also our politicians have mastered this art very well of divide and rule. In fact the present generations of youth are the only hope to achieve this to happen.
It can be done if youth cutting across castes n political affiliations protest strongly. The protest by Youth for Equality has made the Government to step back n make some crucial decisions which otherwise would not be made. We had 60 years to eradicate the caste system. Instead we held close to our pettiness and propagated the caste system because one's name gave a definite advantage in education and career. Today the chasm between the upper castes and lower castes is only greater. And now that the lower castes are trying to get back on their feet and today finally we have dalit, tribal and OBC causes finding support nationally suddenly we find our voice about ending caste politics? When caste politics finally is turning the tide and starting to favor the lower castes, suddenly we scream against it. Why didn't we with a voice, open our mouths when 60 years ago, the universe of higher education and good jobs was open exclusively to us? Why didn't we open our mouths when a future president of India, K.R. Narayanan was forced by upper caste students to have a separate graduation ceremony because he was a dalit? All this is not to condone caste politics but to let people have perspective. When UCs and the Dalits/Tribals have equal access and opportunity to everything, and then let’s start screaming about caste politics.
I wonder why anti-caste sentiment come-up only while quota implementation, not when dalits are burnt/raped/paraded. Why can’t RSS direct its militancy against eliminating these? Let put Muslims on backburner. Long live Muslims/English who made Hinduism move toward equitable society!."Because caste is embedded in our gene ,one classic example for this ,is that we have "Caste" communities" in Orkut, which only goes to show the cast mindset of the educated youth in India"
This only shows our love for castiesm. The fact that UC related community have got more members than others, shows the exploitative mindset of higher castes. There superiority complex and hypocrisy about merit (at the time of quota implementation) is highly deplorable. The real caste-culprits are higher castes only (includes many of OBCs caste). An SC or ST is not gaining anything other than reservation from this evil. The rest of us cherish their caste. So, I doubt if education can cure this problem.
Politics is not dirty but in India we've got really dirty politics. It’s difficult to stop this leaders bring their son or daughter as the party leader after their time. It’s as if a family property. They think they are the rulers.People don't understand that in democratic India. We are the rulers & these politicians are our servants whom we give salary in the form of tax. Instead of thy serving us some idiots serve them forgetting dignity & patriotism. We all are only required to do our duties. As per the question of politician’s sons and daughters coming in to politics, I have no problem still they do some good work for our country.
According me our main enemies are those leaders who are parasites in the systems and also adding more parasites in to system may be any mean.To some extent, we people are also responsible for this stage of Indian politics because we people still encourage foremanship in the politics.
If you take the media for instance, they want more business and hence frame headlines that attract attention. When I mean headlines, I am talking about the criticism. If you take any newspaper dated August 23 (20010), you will be able to see for yourself the discouragement & blame ejaculated at the politicians. The more the blame, the more the pressure. The more the pressure, the more the intrigue.
Of course, I am not to say that the politicians are doing an immaculate job. But, it's in the hands of the media & the people to encourage them do the proper thing. It’s also our responsibility to stop corruption & act legally.
By India being big I meant cultural diversity. People of different groups and belief systems. Talking about geographical big, Russia, if you remember, was the Soviet Union once upon a time, but broke up, and China has something similar happening in Taiwan. Also, wherever cultural diversity is increasing, it's bringing with the problem of conflicting groups of people. Take examples of France (Sikhs and turbans), Germany (Indian workers being picked upon), Russia (Indians again), UK (Muslims, Asians, Indians) and also countries like Holland and Sweden which earlier had not experienced such phenomena.
Use any of the below divide technique and become GREAT POWERFUL in INDIA
1) Hindu-Muslim
2) Upper-Lower Caste
3) Desi-Vedishi ( very small though)
4) North-South-East-West-Central Indian ( All very confusing, do we decide on birth place/language/color or what)
5) Adiwasi-Non-Adiwais
7) Amir-Garib-MiddleClass log
8) Educated-Non-Educated-Semi-Educated
9) Young-Old-Infant
10) Men-Women
11) White-Black (good we don't have this a lot)
12) India-Pakistan-China
You can add more to divide India.....
I feel India is undisputedly one of the most corrupt nations in the world. And 95% of all our politicians are corrupt, liars, idiots & hypocrites. Look at how many political parties we have, Congress, BJP, BSP, Samajwadi, CPI, CPM, RJD, BJD, National Conference, PDP, NCP, Akali Dal, INLD,Shiva Sena, DMK, AIADMK, TDP,JD(S), JD(U), LJP ..yawn.
US have only two Democrat & Republicans. Britain has just 3, Labour, Conservative & Liberal Democrats. Nations like China & Russia have just 1 communist party ruling their countries for 60 plus years.
Gone are the days when a single party like Congress with mass leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, India Gandhi & Rajiv Gandhi won with clear majority. one more thing look around. See past the politics and politician and look at the real important thing our future. if we allow politics to go on like this the future of our country is sure to be in the dumps. History repeats itself and incompetent administrators lead to the down fall of our country-like it did during the British era. Four years is too long a period for any politician to hold his post. Instead these jobs must be made like the private sector-if you don't work well you are fired. Well First thing mostly it’s full of corruption .and speaking practically it’s very difficult to change the situation. See our is a democratic country. Being only a cooperator or only a Mp won’t do good for chennai for instance or any other city. Everyone and especially the Main leaders should be young and damn educated and master minds.
If only we had motivated leaders with an aim in their minds, only then can our country truly benefit. Our governments are confused between mass good or class good. They have to get more votes to stay in power yet they have to make the working man benefit for the country to progress.
1-Politics have urgent need of Committed & competent young.
2- We give emphasis of Integrity & commitment over competency & efficiency in selecting public servant.
3- We always differentiate between need & greed motivation.
4- Change the public life momentum from achievement to contribution
5- Everyone- Individual, family, friends, Society, politics etc - will ready to contribute to growth of virtue, good if they wish to get virtue, good.
India doesn’t need a mass leadership for how many more years we will keep on looking for some angel to take birth and do something for us. Entering politics is not enough. We need to have our basics clear it's not about politics. you r ready to give 50 Rs. to a person for breaking rules you are ready to spit in public places, you can destroy public property in the name of religion caste. beat people with no reason if you want to change India change yourself not the government. Amend the constitution change the fundamental rights implement strict rules sue the cooperators who builds improper roads. Slap the policemen who are asking for chai pani don’t be afraid of the consequences. Do it to be recognized. Rather than praising our work that we do.
IS POLITICS RUINING SPORTS?
I guess Sports is ruining all the 'good old politicians’. Imagine how tough it is for them to be in suits, talk sense & not call for a bandh /hartal / strike, because India didn’t get enough medals / trophy. Politics & sports should be separated - no dual membership should be allowed. Otherwise we are robbed of our circus spectacle, i.e. politicians. Down with sports, it should not ruin our politicians.
The President / Supreme Court should declare that,
1. Heading of sports bodies should be a disqualification for the Legislative, reasons that could be given1. Politicians, will not be able to do justice to their legislative function.
2. Sports bodies tend to make politicians take 'parochial' decisions.
Also sports bodies should have qualified CEO, with previous experience in HR / Marketing / administration. This will automatically disqualify most of the politician. The efficiency of the political system depends on aims of the party. If you have 1000 parties with the aim of India's progress it would be a great government. But if you have even two parties with the sole aim of filling their coffers the government won't work why we are so eager to criticize everyone? Why do we need to get tickets from parties? We should not see what everyone is doing instead we should concentrate on what we do. Let us ourselves start voting practically. Great revolutions have been started by individuals. Here we are a group of likeminded individuals let us contribute in our own small way. As for illiteracy we can still do many things on an individual level. We can try to help some NGOs who are sincerely trying to help the people. We can also try to educate the illiterates in our locality. We can form groups to fund the education of the needy. Many things can be done but we need a strong will and determination we have gr8 example of democracy in indianite no matter we have so much political parties. Every person has his own view regarding progress of country. But we the people (citizen of India and voter of India) are the moderator and we are "Currupt".So don’t blame political system and politicians.
If our youth enter into politics with good education background, there will be a change in Indian Politics. Otherwise, India will be a developing country till 2100.
The "directly elected" legislature & government would collectively take decisions on the basis of majority opinion.
Thus, it is accountable to the people they are chosen by. If these people's representatives fail to do according to the need of the people, most justifiably they are criticised or even turned down through polls.
But, the judiciary, being one of the most important authorities that functions parallelly and possesses the power sometimes not less than the legislature. If it is corrupt, i.e., should they have accountability to the people? If the answer is "no" then why must people abide by it? And if the answer is "yes", how this accountability can be built up?
Only "education & experience" should not be the prominent eligibility to "we the people" anybody so "educated & experience". A better definition, a justified acceptability, & the area(s) of jurisdiction are required.
Well, I haven't talked about any specific procedure for the accountability of the Court. But it should have "some" way(s) so that "we the people" must accept it as an authority on the basis of its justified "democratic" stance.
If we concentrate the last few parley, the Supreme Court says that the Lower Courts should know that their jurisdiction is "limited" by the Constitution" as it is, sometimes, preceding beyond the Legislature & the Executive; but when the Supreme Court itself is asked about its own "limitation" in terms of area of jurisdiction, the Supreme Court says that such question(s) cannot be asked to the Supreme Court. So, evidently, the Supreme Court along with its subjugated Courts needed to identify the specific spheres wherein they should work.
The President of India is also accountable to the Supreme Court as the Discretionary Powers of the President can be questioned in the Court. For example, if the President of India dismisses the verdict of "Capital Punishment" using his discretionary power, it can be taken to the Court. Sill, the President has his/her accountability being elected in a specific way. We do not get any accountability to the "we the people" of the Judiciary at all.
From several sources, we come to know that neither the Military nor the Judiciary has its much greater proneness to corruption. The questions against The corruption allegations against the Judiciary is now a common thing. Day by day "we the people” are loosing faith on "Me Lord" Judiciary. It's crowded by the people because of the obligations, not much on the ground of faith.
Surely no body wants Judges to form parties and fight election, if it happens they will order to hang all opposition after the day they get elected and there will be no one to stop them from doing that.
Accountability of the Court is necessary now.
Anyone would say with guts how "Me Lord" the "corrupt judges" of India & the "Solemn" Court where this corruption is nurtured, can be put into dustbin? How that will be accountable to "we the people"?
Why each "verdict" of it MAY not be counted as "unauthorised", in cases of Afjal guru, Dantewara, Assam tribal question, SEZ, Thanjabhur Fighter Base, Babri Masjid, Taj Corridor, Sajubaba, Gujjar uprise, Nandigram, Kashmiri pandits, Bhopal Gas Disaster, Abu Salem, Universal Civil Code, and all such national debates if they are brought to court?
Why must Indian democracy abide by the unaccountable "Judiciary?
We cannot blame our founding fathers of the constitution. they made provision for it.But we have already seen the case of justice Ramaswami. How the representative of the '' we the people'' have performed in this case ? It is not the fault of the system, but the fault of the representative of the '' we the people''. They could not punish a judge. Why ?
'' we the people'' knows batter.
In future caste based enumeration of Indian population would become a regular exercise and with use of IT and better methods the data would be easy to gather and analyze. How will this affect the caste based reservation policy? Eventually , many castes that currently hold the OBC status might be found to be better represented and would have to be excluded from the OBC list. The most numerous of the forwards among OBCs would be affected. Say, if Yadavas in UP and Bihar are found to be heavily represented and no longer fit the OBC criteria they would have to be excluded from the OBC list. Similarly many other power groups among OBCs would be affected in many other states. This will have dramatic affect on the OBC politics. Suddenly Lalu, Mulayam and Sharad Yadav will become leaders of General category/Forward castes. Are OBC leaders initiating something that will eventually ruin them? RTI is there and government can no longer hide the stats. We know that under Mulayam and Lalu most selected in government jobs in UP were Yadavas. There is a possibility that they are now over represented or may would be in near future. The caste based enumeration would be a welcome step if done in totality. Don't know but would be interesting to see the result.
I am neither supporting caste based census nor opposing it here on this forum. If caste based data becomes available and this exercise becomes a norm then that will have a profound effect on the reservation policy. I mentioned Yadavas as an example (case study) and as a benchmark trend. It is no secret that forwards among the backwards take the maximum benefits under the current policy. And after RTI the government is bound to become more transparent with respect to the data. It is possible that 10 years down the line ( if already not happened) , many forwards among OBCs would come out to be over represented than their actual proportion in the population. Say Yadavas in UP amount to 12% of the state's population but their representation in government jobs in the last 2 decades has gone up to 14%.This will qualify Yadava's to be FC rather than OBC and they will be out of the OBC category by the order of some court ( may be SC).This way i guess once the data becomes available the forwards among the OBCs would be seriously affected losing out on the benefits of reservation.
Caste-based reservation should be totally done away with if India has to move forward so I don't think there is much of a point in discussing the future of this policy which is ruining the present as well as future of the whole country.
Statistical Analysis:
Just analyse the result in detail. There are only 2 parameters in which Indian democracy is lagging behind and those are:
political participation : 5.56
political culture :5.63
And the sole reason for this is the diversity of India. Is there any country in the world with 18 national languages, 1800 dialects and culture (cuisines, clothing, traditions) changing every 200 KM?The whole Europe is less than half a size of India and they have so many small countires in that area.Just imagine making Europe a single country with a single democratic government. Then you will see, how bad political culture will develop in Europe. There will be vote banks, political rivalries over languages, regions, cultures and everything (just as we have witnessed in 2 world wars).Looking at this, I will say that India is really the best democracy which is handling so much of diversity without breaking the country into pieces.Nothing in this world is perfect! its upto us to make it! we are atleast far more luckier then our neighbours on each side have had failed democarcy and coups on more then one occasion!more then flawed i would say india is a young democracy.Imagine where USA was after 60 years of independence! that nation was still burning in the flames of civil war till 100 years after the declaration of phelidelphia!
India-a flawed democracy:
India is a flawed democracy, no doubt about that.Considering the seer number of languages, ethnicity, cultures, over and above the extra large population, it is a wonder that India is a functioning democracy. It must be applauded for the achievement. However its flaws lies in places where the foreigners do not look. The flaw lies in its pampering of the minorities at the cost of the majority. We may have to tolerate corruption and violence everyday but at least we have the freedom to freely criticize the perpetrators even though they don't stop doing that. And thanks to the media, atleast some politicians in high office are now held accountable for their actions.
A successful democratic political culture implies that the losing parties and their supporters accept the judgment of the voters, and allow for the peaceful transfer of power. This is again due to diversity. If the party loses an election just on the basis of policies, it will always accept the judgement of the voters with grace. But due to diversity of India, the loss of a political party is not just considered the defeat of its governing policies but also the defeat of the language, culture, region, religion, caste to which it is associated with. In such a scenario, accepting defeat is not easy.India is like a joint family and all these are the ills associated witb a joint family as compared to Europian countries which are like nuclear families. But still, India has the advantages of joint family too.Either we should accept that India is a good democracy or else if we think that India is a flawed democracy, then the only solution to it is nuclearisation of the Indian joint family. (i.e. breaking the country into several small countries on the lines of Europe. then each of the new country will have a very good full democracy)
Problems:
Sort the religious problems out and you will see a totally different government emerge. But as long as we have the muslim population destroying our political system and our religious system and demanding minority rights when there is a mosque everywhere there is a temple, then there is no democracy. We are the only country which is working more or less successfully as a joint family. There is no other country in the world like this. We can proudly say that we the best in the world in tolerance. But if still, some people think that our democracy is flawed as compared to those who are functioning in a nuclear family, then its the nuclearisation which can solve the problem.
Atleast for five years (elcted period), elected representatives are just freed from his/her electorates. There is no law/contraint that makes him boud to obey decision of people elected him.The situation is similarly pathetic in every countries.Even in US, though majority was opposing iraq war now, Bush/b were acting as oper their own sweet will. They are free to do so everywhere.secondly, indian parliament does not represent majority of indians.see how many guys are there from economically backward classes,it is merely a representative body of upper class-pper middle class-landlords, industrialists.
Though democracy is the best available option for us to follow, we unfortunately are faced with some grave shortcomings in its implimentation and framing. to list a few:
1)India's democracy is enjoyed by a certain class and for the rest, it is aking to a dictatorship (as stated by sucheta).
2)Constitution of our country is having some loopholes which allows the politicians to tap votes in the name of religion. untill we fix these loopholes, democracy and secularism cannot really go hand in hand in india.
3)curruption has dettered the lower class people of india from enjoying the fruits of democracy. There are people who are not even allowed to cast there votes or are forcibly made to vote for someone.
Democracy is the only destiny of the world.
The new establishment of democratic governments in the present world are the live example of the sucess of Democracy. In india congress is doing every thing to kill democracy. The way and path thay have choosen will definetly cause loss to Democratic in India. But is an unfortunate thing is they are phosing that they are the only people who gaurd democracy. The recent statement in US by our PM is an example of their acting.I may belive i them if they call these statements during the time of Bihar assembly desolved state or Jharkand conflict or Governors Changing. There is no end for their ill things.
Democracy is never successful in just 61 years. It is an evolving process which takes at least a 100 years.Democracy is now the assumed, perfect system of government. But if so, why are we still so behind than other democratic nations?I think that the main reason why democracy doesn't seem to work in India is that India is a land of disarray or disunity. All this disarray is due to the crippling perversion of our ancsestors called-
caste-system,And when it comes to religions, we are 'born with prejudices'.We think our religion is the best simply because we were born in it.Christians are branded with the term 'evangelists' And Muslims with the term 'over-zealous chauvinists'And so on.And it is this gullible and unworthy people {majority} who are given the 'right to vote'.They are also partly resonsible for converting a 'statesman' into a 'politician'.Result- Thousands of mini-Hitlers, who know nothing but squeezing the common people. And sometimes heinous acts like the Godhra or Khairlanji massacre, aimed for pleasing their respective voting groups. We can't simply go on blaming the politicians,They didnt {atleast directly}kill the people, or rape the women, or burn thier houses.it was the common mass,Our minds are misguided to the point of perversion, and further,
we give no resistance to this.We brag about our unity during Cricket matches, but is that really something to brag about?
In the so called secular country like India where even after 55 years of Independance some people get advantages only cause of their caste and religion, where law changes from religion to religion, where any damn lady can stop the 1000Crore project of dam development, where animals( dogs ) are more important than people.I think democracy has damaged the past, present and the future of this nation. The only option is a visionary leader a positive dectator.Socialism leads to the state being the only powerful institution and consequently powerful bureaucrats become the kings. Things get done on the basis who knows whom and the top bureaucrats become the aristocracy withh every segment of the society at their mercy. If everyone is state employee how many will have the courage to take on the government.
No private property ==> a state of semi slavery. Dictatorship leads to catastrophs and communism or communalism wont suit Indian people.Democracy is the best option and it is the permanent solution for any country. But the way they(politicians) handle in India is pathetic!! At this present situation i may say this only!but if a new set of politicians and government officers who are true to their heart and do their duties in a right manner, I can say Democracy has won.well we have a parliamentary form of government, a vibrant electorate. what the survey doesnt take into consideration is the multi ethnicity of India. Denmark, Sweden and all arent in any way close to being as mutli ethnic as India.Infact Some of my Danish freinds were really amazed at this aspect of India.
Another Independence Day has dawned on us and we have made it to the finish line yet again. Despite its burgeoning population, inflation and political turbulence, Indian democracy has stayed afloat in an atmosphere of destabilizing conditions in the neighbourhood.Among its neighbours, Pakistan can look forward to a democratically elected government, albeit with the army baton firmly over its head; the Bangladeshi army has joined hands with the ruling government to enforce its rule, Sri Lanka is still caught in civil strife, Nepal has seen the ruling monarchy suspend democracy and then give way to a Left victory in the elections. Bhutan is still taking its fledgling steps toward democracy and Myanmar is l under the grip of a military dictatorship. Though China shows great promise of being a source of stability in the region, its human rights record and its brutal crackdown in Tibet has attracted adverse attention.India has successfully demonstrated beyond argument that poverty, massive illiteracy and diversity on a sub-continental scale were not arguments against democracy, they were arguments for it. Although India never was a single entity until the British conquered it, it was able to forge a national identity and unite its diverse people in a feeling of ‘Indian-ness’. Unlike most democratic nations in the world which were founded on the basis of a nationalist invocation of a shared history, religion or race, the Indian nation was founded by a group of individuals who championed pluralism.
The necessity to forge a united alliance against the hostile colonial state and the trauma created by partition put India firmly on the path of pluralist democracy. Thus the fledgling India, which initially used the stratagem of pluralism to remain buoyant, later made it the cornerstone of its democracy because it legitimised the compromises essential for keeping hundreds of jostling identities aboard the good ship India. This was the ultimate political goal: to keep the diversity of a subcontinent afloat in a democratic ark. Everything else was negotiable. India also stands in sharp contrast to other nations in South Asia for the reason that every nation in the region has a religious community that dominates the ethos of that particular country. Thus, Nepal is a "Hindu" kingdom, Pakistan and Bangladesh are "Islamic" republics and Sri Lanka's constitution gives Buddhism and Sinhala, the religion and language of the majority of Sri Lankans, the "foremost" place in the life of that country. An important lesson from the recent history of South Asia is that a democracy that creates two different kinds of citizens rapidly evolves into something else. India didn't go down this road for reasons of history. Pluralist nationalism in the 19th century was invented as an answer to the specific challenges of contemporary colonialism. It was founded on the claim that the anti-colonial Indian National Congress could speak for the nation-in-the-making because its membership included representatives of all of India's people.
We’re 61 and feeling good. World Cup victories in cricket at Test and T20 levels, the Kargil upsurge and the ‘India Shining’ campaigns, this time, the world seems to have acknowledged that we’ve arrived.Six decades back, we were a fledgling republic struggling with our newlyattained identity of a free and independent nation. Divided by former masters, we were now protecting unity. We dealt with shortages, with doom-sayers, with rising turbulence in Asia, with political instability. We fought four wars and one internal battle in the Emergency. We learned to trust our instincts, whether in exploding our first nuclear device, becoming the outsource hub of the world, creating the first T20 World Cup series that has become a byword in entertainment and business. In a host of spheres, we worked hard and demanded respect. We offered the world Tata and Ambani, Mallya and Mittal, and talked about billion dollar fortunes. We gave the world the Big Fat Indian Wedding at the Palace of Versaille and the a stream of whiz-kids from our Big Fat Education System -our IITs and IIMs. Now they are now coming home. Because they want to.Our Hindi film industry is showing we make films for the most suitable sudiences in the world – ourselves. Shilpa Shetty found herself the victim of racism in Celebrity Big Brother and the world cheered when she laughed all the way to the bank. It’s like India is the flavour of the decade. And not a moment too soon. Make that the century instead!
The failure of our democracy is directly proportional to the number of sensible people who don't vote. Middle-class and upper-class people can't stand in the sun for long hours. Hence, their vote goes waste. Also, employed people are frequently transferred, hence, they are not registered as voters in their current place of residence. Even the procedure for changing the address is a long one.I strongly feel that the apathy of a majority of the people is the reason for the failures of our democracy.
You try to change the world will be brushed off, Change your mind, home, street, community, then a country. It all starts in your mind.
We all know the prevalence of corruption in today's India. It must be present in ancient India also though with a varying degree.Any recorded instances of corruption in History. How can we trace and explain its evolution with specific reference to India. Chanakya used Vishkanyas who acted as pleasure-woman for Nandas and then killed them.It may be taken as an instance of corruption. He is also reputed to have bribed many members of Nanda's army to enable Chandragupta maurya to defeat the Nanda king. A verse in Rigveda means."Stars hide on sunrise the way thieves hide on seeing somebody" indicating existence of anti-social elements in those days also. But this does not indicate the degree to which it was prevalent then. There are many instances of important people like "Jai Chand", "Mir Kasim" taking a particular course of action for private benefit. But isolated instances does not indicate degree.
Corruption is NOT a disease, its a BAD HABIT and later ADDICTION for Money.See, those who are corrupt, are people like me and you. They are not aliens and hence solving this problem is Radically difficult.Though not impossible. Why are people corrupt??
1. The LEGAL Income they earn, is not sufficient for them to leave a NORMAL life.
2. Every one around them is corrupt and earns hell lot of money which gives them complex and they start demanding bribes.
3. They have no RESPECT/FEAR of The Laws and LAW Keepers or Guardians. Cause those who implement the law are themselves corrupt.
4. Lack or the feeling of Responsibility and Belonging.
Working for corruption should be an ongoing process for generations.Every child, coming into this world, should be taught about ethics and it should be embossed on his mind that how corruption is bad and even fatal sometimes.Every kid should be taught to respect others. We should start from ourselves. We should set an example that we are not corrupt. On top of this:We should have really stringent laws and good people who implement these laws to insure that people will think a thousand times before they give/take bribe.we should also make sure that basic facilities like education and higher education, medical facilities and other are available at a very reasonable price.
Is there any reference to the corruption prevalent in society in ancient literature? Was our society always as corrupt as it is today ?
If not, when did it raise its ugly head. I think corruption needs to be defined first. Moral corruption and Legal/monetary corruption are two different things. There could be many ways but I strongly feel through EDUCATION corruption will take a back seat. How?
Some says Eradicating Corruption Its no way possible.Corruption can be of many types like corporate corruption, political corruption, data corruption, so on & so forth & eradicating these corruption totally is not possible. As long as earth is revolving corruption will do co-exist. When the earth stops revolving that will be the end of corruption.it is easy to give lectures but when you will be in the system you will face the truth, being an engineer am prepared for it.lets see how far i can go in government sector.if you can keep yourself clean in the most corrupt environment that too will be far beyond commendation. forget about stopping it.if you dare yoyourself to fight aagainst it.dozens of driving force will rise to throw you out of the system.Better be practical so its the responsibility of each of the individuals to v a universal nation, which is practically not at all possible.
PROPER EDUCATION:
Education enlightens people & harness ones inner potential & refines & redefines it into a sociable & friendly one. it widens ones horizon, wisdom, knowledge, discernment & so on.Take this case, accumulating lots of money & wealth is, not doubt, a no nonsense pursuit. However, education will teach you how to generate money & wealth for the betterment of people. The difference between an educated & uneducated person is not in their looks or heights but in their attitudes.Educated person will think for the people, he will have a self awareness & will seek for a solution rather than answer or comfort & above all he will empathize with the poor & needy.Such is the impact of education that still today the most powerful nation of the universe, the US, is still stressing the importance of education tirelessly.Making it compulsory for all the citizens of the state may give us a ray of hope to deliver us from the bondage of Corruption.
There is always an exception to rules may be there could be few people despite educated but unwise but the impact will be much more minimal than if there were many uneducated people in the state. So , according to me, through education we can definitely think of uprooting or reducing Corruption to a great level in our state/Country.Therefore, how to educate people may be more important or significant than how to banish corruption as the disappearance of later is imminent if the former precedes it.
PROPER ADMINISTRATION
The so called system of administration is inherent with bugs and this directly or indirectly leads to corruption. So unless You develop a new system you cant eradicate corruption. But i believe deep down that an ideal system is impossible. its like the Heisenberg uncertainty principle where the idea of knowing the position and velocity of electron simultaneously is impossible, its not because
of any deficiency in the measuring apparatus but its nature's nature. So any attempts seem futile.
Corruption can be eradicated. If only we really mean to do it.It has to start form each person. Can we say that we are honest in all the simple duties we are doing?Honesty stars in simple things and it begins when we are Young. We can really train a young generation which will uphold the real values of humanity.Where there is a will there is a way.
Since corruption today is not limited only upto the politicians but to a much larger scale and the system involves not only the one who is corrupt but also those who encourage any form of this corruption.be it bribe taking or giving and the entire system just cannot be changed.so to conceive a corruption free space would be nothing less than a fool's paradise.
My solutions are
1.) We all should try to raise our voice gainst corruption. Corruption is corruption even if it is for 1 rs. or 1 crore. So try to raise your voice even for 1 rs when you see somebody is charging extra. Don`t think that 1 rs. is a small money, let him to have this.
2.) corruption can be stopped only if it is stopped from higher official. Higher rank can ask to lower rank to stop corruption. But reverse is very difficult. So the people who are against corruption should be in power. So our good youth must come in politics to clean the system.
3.) We all have to promise ourselves that we will never be corrupt in life. No body can impose this to you. You only can promise to yourself. So be loyal to you and try to speak to yourself.
To stop corruption, i think all these three things are necessary. if we will choose only one option, it is still difficult. So we have to work on all these three things.
Why are we in such a helpless situation? Why are we not doing anything?
The answers are simple. We have compromised at every level of our life. Corruption is not just within politicians, it is within our system. It is within our lives. And this is taking us nowhere but towards doom.We need to clean the evil within us as soon as possible.Politicians alone cannot indulge in corruption. They are supported by each and every level of hierarchy in our system. Our police system, our income tax department, our electricity department, everywhere there is corruption. Who are these people who are doing corruptions? These are our very own people who are indulging in corruption.
This could be your father or mother or brother or sister or husband or wife or son or daughter or relative or friend. Every paise of corrupt money that you eat and drink is equivalent to flesh and blood of our fellow Indians. Is your father a corrupt? Is your mother a corrupt? Is your brother a corrupt? Is your sister a corrupt? Is your husband a corrupt? Is your wife a corrupt? Is your relative a corrupt? Is your friend a corrupt? If you are tolerating such a person, you are actually helping those corrupt people and being equally responsible for state of our nation.Clean India from corruption by changing people around you. Stop consuming anything obtained from corruption, you won’t die if you lose out few pleasures in life. This is our only chance to save and change those corrupt people else a situation will certainly arise where they would cross the limits of our toleration and that’s when we would be forced to kill them brutally. Corruption & Crime in the nation is skyrocketing as a consequence of lack of fer of Law cases drag for ever.then again, there is a next higher court.
Then we have a lame idiotic constitution that only plays around with peoples sentiments to further create insecurity in Politicians and to make them do all number games to come on same seat again .As if these parliamentary seats are world bank seats!. Whom to blame?
Then we have politicians, government and private industry officials who take and give corruption are also Indian citizens like you and me only so whom to blame? Then Cream over the Cake is our Judiciary system which I even don't care to talk about! Whom to blame? Then we have bias media which is sold to all international elements trying to gain nothing more then religious or Communist agendas to further corrupt our mind! whom to blame? Then we have our bloody history of 1100 years of Ghulami under Mughals and then Britishers which has Genetically made us most tolerant people towards self destruction. whom to blame?
Hence yes its very much possible that we will kill lots of people for this one day!
