India is a land cultured by rich diversity, heritage and a glorious history. India is also a land with huge population, the major part of which constitutes the Youth. The Indian Youth are by far the best in the world due to their agility and their power to change the stature of the country with their literacy and employment rate. In a country mostly dominated by politics, the Youth are the game changers, henceforth; they are taken seriously because of their huge numbers. So what exactly are their responsibilities? How well they understand and leverage their rights and how willingly and efficiently they are able to shoulder these responsibilities, is the question of the moment.
We have a list of youth who are promising, and have even entered into the 'maayanagiri' called politics. The evidence is the Central Cabinet Young Ministers Sachin Pilot, Navin Jindal, Supriya Sule, but reality is that they have political support. Akhilesh Singh emerged from the likes of Mulayam Singh, Rahul Gandhi always had that Gandhian advantage over others, so much so, he is the frontrunner for the Prime Ministerial post. The main question is that, is it only meant for people with relevant backgrounds, or can it be achieved by people who rise from a simple 'aam aadmi' portfolio?
Today, for every agitation, protest or a ‘dharna’ the youth behave as the fulcrum. But the time has come they rise above the flaws of communalism, Hinduism and Jurisdiction to showcase a replica of pre-independence like situation. Time has come to change the country, time has indeed come to change the system which lets the perpetrators go without a single scratch or even leave them with very meager punishment. It’s TIME the youth stand out of the political influence and move beyond the artificial candle marches, the Move-On attitude. Every time there is violence, we come out of our houses, but do nothing to improve the existing system; instead, we witness the crime with our jaws wide open. We stay tuned to news channels 24*7 for the drama to unveil openly. This westernized culture that we have adapted to, sparks off the youth by mere an SMS or a Facebook post. Such is the world we are living in, which in a way is mostly influenced by the political parties across the country. They rather, use the youth as a catalyst to enhance their ballot boxes. All the rush of blood and the anger at last halts by the golden words of our politicians, because it is WE who have voted them to power and it is only them who could change the system by passing laws in the parliament.
One individual may die for an idea; but that idea will, after his death, incarnate itself in a thousand lives. That is how the wheel of evolution moves on and the ideas and dreams of one nation are bequeathed to the next. ~ Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose
We live in a country where 'just a day' in your life can give you all the benefits that you crave for in life. At the stroke of 18 years, you are no more a juvenile, you are eligible to vote, you can have a driving license and even drink liquor. There are several other flaws in the constitution which need to be immediately reframed. Women need to be given a special status and treated with much more respect, to do away with improperly conferred tag of damsel in distress, even try to help people in need instead of watching them suffer. The entire youth society is under the dire threat of being coaxed and deterred. So the time has come we have to rise to the occasion and deliver a belligerent opposition towards these amiss constitutional amendments, to stay away from the canards of the politicians, to raise our voice against the malice prevailing all over . In advent of this exigency there is no way out to wriggle out of the dilemma rather expeditious action should be promised. We should transcend being cajoled and stop being played to entice by so called ruling authorities of the country. The day we move beyond these boundaries, leaving behind all our inhibitions ,that will be the day which will feature the name of our country in the annals of world context as one of the powerhouses of the world, and we all have a role to play and can live with tandem and harmony.
Bill Clinton was born in the year 1946 as William Jefferson Blythe, III, in a humble household in the Hempstead County in southern Arkansas, United States. A member of the Democratic Party, Clinton was elected as the 49th President of the United States of America in the year 1993 and continued to stay in office till the year 2001.
Prior to being the President Clinton was the governor of his native state, Arkansas. However presidency was his dream since college aiming at which he filed a nomination for the role of the president of the United States in the year 1992 and went on to become the president in the consecutive year. Clinton’s time as the president, however controversial it might be, was the time when America enjoyed an era of peace and prosperity, marked by low unemployment, declining crime rates and a budget surplus. Clinton was known to appoint a number of women and people belonging to the minorities in top government positions, which included Janet Reno, the first female U.S. attorney general, and Madeleine Albright, the first female U.S. secretary of state. While serving a second term as the president, Clinton was impeached in the year 2001 by the House of Representatives on charges connected to having a sexual relationship with a White House intern, Monica Lewinsky. Even after his impeachment, Clinton has remained active in public life showing support for the campaign of his wife running for senator and Barack Obama’s much celebrated and publicised Presidential campaign.
Personal Life
Bill Clinton or rather William Jefferson Blythe, III, spent his childhood with his grandparents who supported the family by running a grocery store. His official surname comes from his step father who his mother married after the death of her first husband, Bill's father.
As a young student Bill was bright, enigmatic and motivated to be a part of the public sector. He was an avid reader and leader of the class. These leadership qualities have helped him all throughout his life. Clinton went to the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (B.S.) degree in 1968 with the aid of a scholarship. In his college years Clinton also spent a short period of time interning with the Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright. Clinton had a brief stint studying Philosophy masters at the Oxford University with a Rhodes scholarship however he discontinued his studies at Oxford to Join the Yale Law School and subsequently obtained Juris Doctor Degree in the year 1973. It was in Yale where Clinton met his future wife Hilary Rodham, whom he married in the year 1975. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Chelsea, their only child, in the year 1980. In spite of various turmoils in the relationship, including Bill Clintons alleged affair with white house intern Monika Lewinsky, the couple still remains married.
Political Career
As President of the United States of America, Bill Clinton has been instrumental in bringing some much needed reforms and regulations in the country which have supported the social, cultural and economic development of the state.
Clinton’s political career began with his election as governor in his home state Arkansas. However before his election as governor Clinton had contested the elections once in the year 1974 against Republican John Paul Hammerschmidt for the House of Representatives which he lost with a very short margin. However he was elected as the Arkansas Attorney General in 1976. Clinton became the youngest governor of Arkansas at the age of 32. As a governor he worked on educational and road reforms with his wife Hilary.
Clinton served as president for two terms from 1993-2001. During his years as president he worked on a number of new laws and reforms most notably the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, North American Free Trade Agreement and welfare reforms. Clinton is also known for the implementation of the controversial Department of Defence directive known as "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", which allowed gay men and women to serve in the armed services provided they kept their sexuality a secret, and forbade the military from inquiring about an individual's sexual orientation. This reform was a major breakthrough in conserving the gay and lesbian rights in the United States. Clinton was instrumental in maintaining the longest peaceful economic expansion in American history, and the Congressional Budget Office reported a surplus of $69 billion in 1998, $126 billion in 1999, and $236 billion in 2000, during the last three years of his presidency.
Even though Clinton had a successful run as president for two consecutive terms his time in office was surrounded by a number of controversies and scandals the most prominent of them being the Lewinsky scandal which lead to his impeachment in the year 2001. Clinton was accused of having and illicit sexual relationship with the white house intern Lewinsky, which he denied under oath. He was impeached on the grounds of shaming the entire nation and lying on national television while still under oath of office. Clinton was the second of the only two presidential impeachments in the United States as yet.
The loss of 'Bala Saheb' can never be repented and it cannot be substituted either. So was the chrismatic persona of this man that,'Mumabai' is abandoned for a day and there are very less people who can draw 'Maharashtra politics' sketch without him. "Hitler" in his attitude but yet a 'champion' and 'godfather' for people of Maharashtra. Bala Saheb is known more a 'social activist' and 'solicitor' rather than a 'hard core' regional politician as because he was not as favourite in his role as a politician and this can only be confirmed with a fact that; two lakh people would never gather passionately with tearful eyes and abandoned heart for a politician and more an Indian politician.
Born on, 23 January 1926 to 'Keshav Sitaram Thackeray',started his career as a social activist-cum-cartoonist with an intention of keeping the plight of a common man in account.Bala Saheb as a cartoonist was very close to a common mentality and thus used to portray the atrocities of the poors and deprived Underprivileged ones with perfection and thus, how, he emerged out to be a figure who capitalised the heart and soul of India's financial hub for half a century uninterruptedly. Bala saheb made official debut in politics when he formed the 'Shiv Sena' in 1966. Shiv-Sena was formed with an objective to resolve and rectify the grievances of the people related to general routine affairs and to check the unprecedented growing population of southern states,Gujratis and Marwaris in Mumbai in late 1980's.
Not only Bala Saheb could establish himself as the most respected, admirable and dominant politician but he maintained an unique personality apart to its politics influence. He was specifically known as 'A warrior' as because he fought for people. There are various instances which rationalises the Bala's 'monotonic dictatorship' at least in Maharashtra.Bala Saheb was brought up in a much contemporary political scenario as he was much inclined to father,'Prabodhankar' Thackeray who was a member of in the Samyukta Maharashtra movement (United Maharashtra movement), which strived for 'Marathi Manus' and carried out various agitation in order to have a new state on the basis of language and ethnicity. The whole of Thackery politics been the epicenter of issue of 'migrants and immigrants' from different states.
Personal Life
As far as personal life is concerned he was a strict 'Hindu' and maintain 'Hindutva' till end. Of his three sons,he chose the younger one to replace him to be the next supremo of Shiv Sena. Bala saheb could not resolve the dispute between Uddhav and Raj as both of them fighting to claim the heirship. What I feel about his personal life that he never stepped back from his decision thus making him the dearest of all. He was possessive and defensive in nature as he used to take the entire responsibility of any misinterpretation by any of his MLA. Babri Masjid demolition, Rose day, valentine day all such instances describes him a strong admirer of his belongings, be it religion(Hindutva), Mumbai or 'marathi manus'.A famous saying, "nothing is personal for a dedicated politician", fits largely to Bala Saheb.
As far as his role as a father(for Uddhav) and grandfather(for Aditya) is inculcated;he proved to be a good one, Bala saheb as he nominated Uddhav and Aditya the next 'commander-in-chief' for sena in his recent address to shiv sainiks. He supported a lot to his son in his political endeavors and maintained Uddhav's reputation where there faiths of the people faded gradually. It was his intention to retain Uddhav as next to him and thus he always preferred him over Raj(Thackery's cousin). Bala Saheb was not an easy figure to track out personally, he used to proud on celebrities(Sachin, lata, Amitabh etc.) that brought laurels for maharashtra but at the other hand he used to scold them for their anti-maharashtra stand.
Professional Life
Bala saheb would always be remembered for politics on his own terms and conditions, the man who listen to his inner-instinct and never cared about the opposition. So was his magic that ; even after not in power the government had to take his permission to hold any function or sporting events in Mumbai. Bala Saheb affected every individual irrespective of their belongings (caste, profession, religion) through his diplomatic behaviour all along.
I would say, he was a professional politician as because he took every decision and trick to make marathi people to waive hands on his side. He agitated against North-Indians and threw them out without any hesitation. Bala Saheb had the strong belief over 'Indian constitution' but then he disobeyed it by rising hate alarm against Indians from north. He entered into politics in 1966, when he formed Shiv sena but he was in the politics well when he pursued cartoonist career. Most of his cartoons were focussed on government policies and he used to register his differences through sketches and drawing. He came strongly and with firm stand against the atrocitities faced by common marathi manus.
There is no shortcut to success
The one who choose shortcuts for success comes down faster than he reached there at the top because that was only a short-lived unplanned, no-goals success. Only a proper way with right set-goals can take us to our destination in the end, which gives us satisfaction and we can stay there without a feeling of guilty consciousness.
Although, we are fortunate enough to follow ideas, different ideologies or thoughts of great people we have or had in our society. For instance, most people find Mahatma Gandhi as their most ideal person and rightly so as he is close to hearts of most of our fellow fellow citizens. This probably is truer in case of newer generation who find his ideology cool … amazing although, some of his principals are almost impossible to follow or concepts difficult to implement but Mahatma Gandhi is still in demand of most people who are looking for a shortcut in to politics. Mahatma Gandhi seems like a surefire way, a learning license for a new driver down the parliamentary road. These people using him as identity card to show on the gate of parliament, some of them are doing it for some time now while some others are in the process of doing so. His hard work not a consideration but his achievements more alluring, no one seems to take his efforts into consideration, Mahatma never needed a ‘Gandhi cap’ to become a true leader but he did it through his sheer will to sacrifice and nothing but selfless service for the downtrodden as sole purpose.
The new generation with many upcoming leaders is smart enough who does it in a well planned way, the simplest way to politics seems to through Gandhi’s ways of works like fasting, law-breaking, sit on time bound or unlimited hunger strikes but they have not set goals apart from one point program insight ‘the chair’. Now, how many of such self-styled leaders who appear while the election time around wearing khadi, a Gandhi cap think about the way Gandhi used to or the way he believed in self-work. The way the new generation entering into politics, makes it more look like a launch of a new business than a way to serve the nation or public in general. Hat is not the way one can reach to the top unless you are part of the system or from highly established political clan. This is not easy to emulate Gandhi who did nothing for his self-interest, he never wanted any thing in thing in return, he set a difficult goal for himself and never looked back with nothing to loose but every thing to gain. He had nothing which could be described his asset apart from his will and no one was strong enough to take it away from him. He was true Mahatma.
This world has been a combination in between two class poles apart, one with all the money in the world and the other with nothing to eat or shelter although a middle class exists in between these two but that has too confused a status neither here nor there. The way concrete jungles are taking over actual jungles and fields, which are disappearing from the scene to make poor people of this country still poorer. This is most easy to deliver a lecture for the benefit of poor people’s sake but how many of such leaders have target to uplift them to provide them meals and shelter. How many of these so-called leaders have plans for education for the urban poor or their livelihood? They have nothing but words, which come out non-stop at amazingly fast pace without having any real meaning that matters.
Politics is all about a policy that works in a systematic way for the poorest of the country with no differences between different casts, creeds or religion that was the basic of our constitution. When we had that in mind at the time of constitutional- rights setting stage, now meaning of every constitution has been turned to a certain direction that leads to vote-bank only. The need to spiritualize politics, as Gandhi used to think is more apt in prevailing situation when the need of the hour is to look at the people at the lowest ladder of the society without considering his cast or religion and this should be done without wasting another day as we are already too behind the schedule. This is demand of the occasion to do it before the common people revolt to change the system that may lead to further chaos.
Let us discuss the most disputed yet his best arm against violence ‘offer your left cheek if some one hit you on the right one’ for the present generation this is perhaps the most difficult job when the trend seems to be ‘the mud slinging’ this seems to be the prime job of politicians today, attack and counter attack. If some one hits some one on one cheek the natural reaction is to hit him back with double force on both cheeks and better still finish at least one of his generations to teach him a proper lesson. But, where is the end of such verbal fights and physical feuds? But that is what going on in full view of common people of this country where leaders or powers those be have crossed every limit, and the worst part of the story is that no one is ashamed right from top to bottom.
Although, this is an undisputed fact that if a person can follow Gandhi in true sense there is no way any one can hit him on even his one cheek or accuse him for any thing wrong but the only condition that’s what required to obtain that status is true values of Gandhi. This seems a difficult proposition in today’s conditions, as we want instant gains with immediate opinions. Shortcuts are no solutions and the way we are acting in the name of Gandhi looks more like a threat in place of doing any good for the cause of common public of this country. That is taking advantage of mob psychology only. People simply taking shelter behind Gandhi committing violence in the name of Gandhi but every thing is fair as long as they are doing it in the name of Gandhi. Gandhi is in fashion among the new crop of self-styled leaders more than ever before. They have an open license to kill innocent emotions of unsuspecting public, which influenced easily in the name of Gandhi. Gandhi in fact is grossly misused today. He has been shot almost six decades before. Just think about it please and give it a serious thought before murdering him allover again - on daily basis.
Her childhood was deprived of family love
Indira Gandhi known as the iron lady of India was born on November 19, 1917 in Allahabad at Anand Bhavan, her ancestral house to Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru and his wife Kamla Nehru. In 1919 when Mohandas Gandhi first visited her house he encouraged her parents to take part in the freedom struggle of the country. She was just a four year old girl when her father was first jailed in their fight for the country’s freedom from the British. As a result Indira had to be sent to boarding school and as the father and daughter were away from each other they used to communicate through letters. They used to communicate through letters as they were the best means of communication at that time. Nehru has written the letters to his ten year old daughter from the Dehradun prison during the year 1933. Apart from personal things Nehru’s letters were full of knowledge as they talked about the Aryans, the epics like Mahabharata and politics. He played an important role in Indira Gandhi’s life as a good teacher, a guide and a philosopher. The letters were later published in some books.
Education- Schools and Colleges she went to
She did her pre-schooling in Delhi from the Modern School. She studied in many schools in India and Europe during her primary education. Indira Nehru had to move to a boarding school as her father was a freedom fighter and went in and out of jail frequently. She was very happy to be in the school where she took part in various curricular activities and was appointed the minister of student parliament of the school. She didn't believe in getting high scores in her academics but well balanced her academics and curricular. She was good in language from her early days and even worked as the editor for her school magazine. She was said to be a shy and reserved girl during her school days yet had a personality that was pleasing. After finishing her metric education from Bombay University, Indira Nehru took admission in Shantiniketan in Bengal in the year 1934. Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru wanted to send her daughter to Switzerland for studies but couldn’t as he could not focus on it due to his deep indulgence in politics. However he gave freedom of choice to the young Indira Nehru to select her subjects. Nehru had great thinking and believed it was not right to not let girls have choices of their own and keep them captive in the four walls of the houses. He was a firm believer of women empowerment. Due to her mother Kamla Nehru’s ill health she joined the college late. She lived with three four girls in the hostel room provided to her as Nehru didn’t want her daughter to be provided and special treatment. She soon adapted to the college environment easily.
In the year 1936 she took admission in the Somerville College at the University of Oxford in United Kingdom but could not clear her entrance as she was devastated by her mother’s death due to tuberculosis. She moved to England and studied for a few months at the Badminton School in Bristol before finally clearing the admission entrance test at the Oxford University in the year 1937. However due to prolonged ill-health she was unable to complete her studies at Oxford University and had to return to India in the year 1941. She was good in subjects like political science, history and economics but had to struggle in the language subject of Latin. Years later the University of Oxford conferred her with an honorary degree and she was also selected as an Oxasian a title for illustrious Asian graduates.
Marriage and kids
Indira Nehru had known Feroze Gandhi since her school days. During her stay in UK she used to meet Feroze Gandhi regularly who too was there studying in the London School of Economics. Feroze Gandhi was close to Indira’s mother and had stood by her side all through her mother’s illness. Indira Gandhi loved her mother a lot and was very close to her. She married Feroze Gandhi on 26 March 1942. As they both belonged to different castes their marriage was objected by their family members. But they had decided to marry each other going against their family’s wishes. He belonged to a Parsi family. Their marriage cards were printed in Hindi, Roman and Urdu and were married according to the Parsi customs. Soon after the marriage the couple was sent to jail for the first time on the charges of subversion by the British from September 11, 1942 to may 13, 1943 at the Naini Central Jail in Allahabad. In the year 1947 India became independent from the British rule and Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru was appointed as the first prime minister of independent India.
The couple had two sons Rahul Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi after their marriage. Though the couple had a home at Allahabad Indira became occupied due to her assistance to her father who was then the Prime Minister of India. She had to stay with her father at his Teen Murti house in Delhi to assist him in his endeavors. And both her sons too stayed with her during this time. Being too busy in politics she could not spend much time with her family. As a result of her political life she had to be in Delhi most of the times away from her husband who stayed at Allahabad and worked in the newspaper called The Herald as the managing director and later on became the first chairman of the Indian Oil Corporation. As a result distances grew up between Feroze Gandhi and her who had to be out of home most of the times. At the time when Feroze Gandhi had the first heart attack in 1958 she was out to Bhutan for a visit. After returning she stayed with Feroze Gandhi in Kashmir for some time to look after him. Later in the year Feroze Gandhi passed away after suffering a second heart attack at the Willingdon Hospital in New Delhi where he was being treated. Indira Gandhi always acknowledged her husband Feroze Gandhi’s presence in her life. He had stood with her in the most difficult times of her life.
Besides being the prime minister she used to take out time to take care of preparations before the arrival of the guests of the country. She used to look after the setups in the house prior to any dignitary’s arrival. She was a good host and took great care of her guests. She was a strong woman who had to face many tough situations in life. She had confidence that her younger son Sanjay Gandhi would be a good face in the Indian politics but his sudden death in a plane crash in the year 1980 somewhat disturbed her internally. Sanjay left behind his wife Menaka Gnadhi and son Varun Gandhi. After his death she encouraged her elder son Rajeev Gandhi to take Sanjay’s place. On her mother’s persuasion he agreed and later was elected as a member of the parliament from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh in February 1981. He assisted his mother from then onwards. He then went on to become the president of the Youth congress. Many saw this move as Indira Gnadhi’s efforts to make Rajeev Gandhi an efficient candidate for the Prime Minister’s post. Rajeev Gandhi was married to Sonia Gandhi who belonged to Italy. It is said that Indira was not happy with her son’s decision to marry an Italian girl. Rajeev Gandhi was killed in a suicide bomb attack in the year 1921 on May 21. Rajeev had two children named Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi. Priyanka Gandhi is married to Robert Vadra who is a business man and Rahul Gandhi is at present one of the most eligible bachelors in the country.
As the leader of the biggest Democracy in the world
Indira Gandhi's political career started as a child when she was just twelve years old. She became the leader of the Monkey Brigade that comprised of children and who worked for the India’s freedom movement. In 1955 when Congress party needed a leader for Indian congress committee’s executive body, Indira Gandhi’s name was pondered upon. In July 1958 Pandit when U. N. Dhebar retired from the post of the President of the Congress party he suggested some names to Pandit Nehru for the leadership. It is said the Indira was one of the suggestions he gave to Nehru. She was made the President of the Congress party on the 8th of February 1959 and remained on the post till January 1960. After Pandit Nehru became the prime minister she acted as a hostess and supporter to him and assisted him in his political life. She was appointed as the chairman of the Central social welfare board from 1953 to 1957. Later in the year 1956 she was appointed as the president f the all India youth congress and served at the post till the year 1960.
In 1964 after her father’s death she was elected for the first time to the parliament as minister of Information and Broadcasting under Lal Bahadur Shastri’s government. She became the first woman prime minister of India after the then prime minister Pandit Lal Bahadur Shashtri in the year 1966. She displayed immense courage and leadership during the 1971 war between India and East Pakistan. India won and Bangladesh was formed due to her clever steps and she was praised all over for leading the country efficiently. Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee even addressed her as the goddess Durga for her courage. The win in the war was followed by the Indian Army Pokharan Test Range, a nuclear test at the desert village Pokharan in Rajasthan. This spoke of her strengths and her interests in the National Security issues. She encouraged and helped in the flourishing of the Green Revolution in India.
During the year 1969 she took a big step to develop the country’s economic sector and nationalized fourteen major banks in the country.
She had an enormous win in the 1971 general elections but she was accused for violating the laws of election. A high court in 1975 accused her on charges of infraction. Due to this disturbance and others in the country she requested the president to declare a state of emergency in the country and postpone the elections. This deterred her public image and lead to her party’s defeat in the 1977 elections. There were splits in her party and corruption emerged within. In the year 1978 she joined the parliament again and the following year that is 1979 once again emerged as the Prime Minister. In efforts to prove India’s non alliance in the global world she made visits to the U.S.S.R. and U.S.A. and several other countries.
During the 1980s India saw internal riots when the Sikhs demanded a separate state. Indira Gandhi in a move to suppress the Sikh Separatist movement ordered some seventy thousand soldiers inside the Golden temple in Amritsar where a campaign by the Sikhs was going on. There were reports of more than four hundred people being killed during the operation. This step that she took to curb a movement that could have lead to the country’s division unfortunately lead to a nationwide outrage against her from the Sikh community in the country. Sadly it further lead to her assassination by her own trusted Sikh bodyguards at her residence in Delhi on October 31, 1984. In her last speech on the October 30, 1984 in Bhuvneshwar probably sensing her end near, she had said that she is not worried if she remains alive or dead as she has lived long. She remarked that she has long served the people of her country and her every drop of blood that will fall on the ground will awaken her country and give the country strength. She expressed her faith in her country’s women and the young of the nation and will efficiently take the responsibility of their motherland on their shoulders. She will always be remembered as one of the greatest political leaders of India. On her 28th death anniversary let us remember one of the most influential leaders of the largest democracy in the world. She was an iron lady in the true spirit indeed.
