Technology makes a lot of difference between a bollywood movie and hollywood movie. If the latest technology have not been backing a film like Avatar it would have been one of those rendering and blending done 10 to 12 years back..! The experience came just because of its truthful and effective use of technology.
Here comes the cost..! To get to the level of technology a huge cost has to be put up , may be millions of dollars. To setup a lab for such huge technological advancements needs a lot of investment...
In India , the movies are always to a particular set of people..and normally it reachs to the Indian community all over the world...and a small percentage of international community....But a hollywood movie is made for every community in the world...So if you look into that aspect..! the money that a hollywood movie puts up is accountable with respect to the number of people that is viewing the movie in different countries all over the world..
So Bollywood if they invest money to create a multimedia lab directly propotional to a hollywood lab..It means huge investment and the profit of the investment that comes back would be very very slow...they wouldn't ever get the money back in the first 10 years...
So bollywood is growing in the pace of the investment and viewership..hollywood also is growing also in the same pace..But the viewership matters....
Don't forget there are many crap movies in Hollywood too ( also the ones with real elephantine budget ). Its part of the business and it happens, whether its Bollywood or Hollywood. So no need of pointing out few hits and few flops. The comparison is of the Indian movies and the Hollywood movies. And if we compare them technology wise, none of the Indian movies stands in front of any Hollywood movies, be it Dhoom 1 & 2 or any else movie. . But if we compare it the way Bollywood movies are made of and what Indian fans love, they were the super-hits. So technology wise a big NO but very good if it comes to market in India.
India is a different market altogether . The comparison on the basis of storylines cant be made . We have superhits like DDLJ and Sholay with a typical indian touch to it whereas in the West , every Genre is potrayed in different ways . For example , the variety in romantic cinema can be seen in movies like Sweet November and Music and Lyrics .
abridged to the fact that what we make in Bollywood is just like 'go by trend' and just earn as much money you can, depreciating the fact that movies with much ingenious and original screenplay plus plot are real good. Films where critics impugning or acclaiming are much more sensible and near to brain and heart. Slum-dog millionaire was one of those films but received bad comments from some of the Bollywood celebs just because it showed a bit of reality. :|
.People who just know to criticise for all the unhealthy reason can take a back seat. Its a different thing altogether. Our filmstars make films for us.They work on projects which will appeal us,indians, more then anybody else in the world.
U people wont even know how many shitty movies release every week in hollywood which just go unheard.
arity of SRK, let me tell you my friend, people abroad know him as the Indian Superstar or even the King Khan of Bollywood. If he has an international reputation like that, there must be a very strong reason behind it. SRK movies played a very important role in taking Bollywood to international heights. No one can deny this fact.
And if you talk about his proclaimation of being the Badshah of Bollywood, then i would say he deserves it. It's not about boasting ones'self, but it's about the status. He never said he is superior to anyone, neither am i claiming that. But the thing is, he reached that status, that level with so much of hard work, so much of sacrifices. So, if he's up there today, he TOTALLY deserves it.
So if he proclaims HIMSELF to be the king or badshah after reaching that status, no one should get offended cuz he is talking about HIMSELF & that too when he has made his mark across the globe.
And you know the biggest quality of SRK which makes him a great human being is, his down-to-earth attitude.
in certain aspects hollywood excels nd in odah bollywood iz betterrr..
if talkin about technology, animation kinds moviez hollywood is way batter den bollywood cetainly...
buh if ya want to watch drama, ganna shanna nachnna, romance rona dhona....
dun fink derez even a single hollywood movie wich hv all dose signature bolly moviez tarka
And morover whats there in Hollywood - Sex,stunts, animations?
But on the same note, I disagree with your second half. Dude, Bollywood celebs are world famous and if you don't trust that, then go check Madame Tussauds museum and the various Internet polls for Indian celebs. Some Bollywood flicks earn more overseas then in India. And talking about Shahrukh, he proclaimed himself as King of Bollywood only, not the world. Bollywood actors are perfect in whatever role are given to them, and same is the case with Hollywood ones. The question here is about FILM INDUSTRY. Where Bollywood always lacks is the financial budget and rational thinking. Though few directors are making speedy recovery in the case of rationalism but still long way to go in case of Originality and financial stability.
Whatever one might say , Bollywood Rocks ! It might be growing on a slow pace but well we will reach tht spot ! As far as special effects goes , Money is a key factor . As for now , India has to invest money in matters more important than Special Effects !!
bollywood is and will get smaller in terms of budget...........specially when most most of the big budget films have been disasters at box office........while the small budget films are easily getting their cost covered up.......may be three or 4 films a year with biggest superstars will have a big budget but in the coming days majority of the films will be small budget films.......just opposite of hollywood.
Bollywood is no doubt copy cat, almost all films are copied from hollywood, infact the name "bollywood" itself is derived from hollywood.!!
In India most of us are addicted to either movies or cricket. While cricket became a passion in India after that famous World Cup triumph in 1983, almost every Indian at one point of time ever were passionate about movies and actors. Actors like Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachan are always remembered because they were number one in their times, but there were actors as good as them and much more popular but have been forgotten by successive generations. One such actor was Jeetendra who dominated Bollywood in 1980s.
Jeetendra has a unqiue track record of heroines of various generations:- Jeetendra was born on 7th Apri1942 and his original name was Ravi Kappor. Jeetendra started his career as a hero in 1964 and acted in over 200 films as a hero. Jeetendra had one of the longest careers as hero costarring from heroines of various generations from Mala Sinha born in 1936 to South Indian beauties like Jayaprada, Sridevi and Bhanupriya who were 20 to 25 years younger than him . Jeetendra played the role of a romantic hero to perfection for almost 25 years and that is one record not many Indian actors can boast of. Jeetendra was the most popular hero in India behind Amitabh Bachan in the mid 80s. A list of 10 popular Indian actors was published in mid 80s in which Jeetendra was ranked number two. Apart from Jeetendra who was ranked number two others who made the top 10 included South Indian beauties Jayaprada, Sridevi and India's first dancer Mithun Chakraborty. These days rankings do not have much value because different sources rank different actors as number one, but rankings in those days were genuine. The rankings conducted those days was a real reflection of the popularity a actor enjoyed in the country.
Jeetendra consistently gave hits:- While every actor is remembered for a particular hit like Sholay or Baazigar because of its commercial success or performance as a actor, Jeetendra's name is not associated with a particular movie because he consistently delivered hits. Picking out a particular hit of Jeetendra is like picking one best knock played by a Sachin Tendulkar or a Adam Gilchrist. Jeetendra was accustomed to delivering a sequence a hits it was very difficult to pick out which was the best one. Jeetendra was the most popular actor in the 80s delivering one hit after another like Tohfa, Swarag Se Sunder, Kaamyaab, Dharam Adhikhari to name a few. Jeetendra was the hero preferred by the audience to pair with the biggest beauties ever of Indian cinema like Jayapradha and Sridevi.
Songs of Jeetendra movies played on loudspeakers during festivals:- In an era when movie songs were played on loud spears during festivals and functions the songs of movies in which Jeetendra acted were most preferred. Jeetendra's dancing with Sridevi and Jayaprada made songs of movies like Tohfa and Mawali very popular. Even today the songs most viewed on sites like Youtube are that of Jeetendra's with Jayaprada and Sridevi as co stars. During the height of his popularity in the 80s Jeetendra had the most releases and it was common to see him on every wall poster.
Jeetendra was an all round actor:- If at all one actor qualifies to be called an all rounder it is Jeetendra because he was a lot flexible as an actor and gave lot of options as an actor. When he started his career he started of as a serious actor and met with huge success. Jeetendra was equally proficient in action roles in lead roles, and when it came to playing where he was required to play second fiddle to heroines like Jayapradha and Rekha, Jeetendra was exceptional. When it came to typical family oriented stories Jeetendra was at ease forming a perfect couple with heroines like Jayapradha and Sridevi who were almost 20 years younger to him. In fact even today it is difficult to find a better onscreen husband and wife combination than Jeetedra and Jayapradha or find a passionate song than ones picturized on Jeetendra and Sridevi.
Sridevi and Jayaprada were the biggest beneficiaries:-Sridevi owes her success in Bollywood to Jeetendra. The pair delivered one of the biggest block busters of all time with Himmatwala and that hit paved Sridevis entry to Bollywood. The pair never looked back delivering one hit after another. Infact Sridevi never enjoyed the same type of successes later in her career when she stopped pairing with Jeetendra. The same was the case with Jayaprada. The trio gave some unforgettable hits like Tohfa as Jeetendra was completely at ease playing the hubby to Jayapradha while in a passionate relationship with Sridevi in a love triangle. A love triangle involving the threesome of Jeetendra, Jayapradaha and Sridevi was the best formula to ensure that the film goes on to become a block buster hit.
South Indian beauties preferred to act with Jeetendra:- A discussion on films is incomplete without a mention of heroines from the South. The most beautiful heroines come from the South and these South Indian beauties always preferred to be paired with Jeetendra. The most gorgeous heroine of all time Jayaprada acted in 27 movies with Jeetendra and the beautiful Sridevi was not far behind with 17. Rekha acted in as many as 24 films with Jeetendra. In fact almost all the popular heroines from the South like Hema Malini, Bhanupriya, Radha and Radhika just to name a few acted with Jeetendra. Vijayashanthi was one of the rare heroines who did not co star with Jeetendra. The reason was that Vijayashanthi dominated Telugu movies to such an extent that she did not have time to act in Hindi Movies and that is the reason why she hardly ever acted in Hindi movies.
Jeetendra will forever be remembered as one of the all time greats of Bollywood and the greatest ever romantic hero.
Sometimes I think what is difference between Abhishek and Amitabh Bachhan. What are the limitation of Abhishek Bachhan that he is not able to become as Amitabh bachhan. My conclusion of difference are as follows.
1. Abhiskek and Amitabh height is different.
2. Abhishek do not smile more like Amitabh Bachhan.
3. Abhishek is not aggressive like Amitabh.
4. Abhishek is not able to speak dialog like Amitji.
5. Abhishek is not touching experience as Amitji.
6. Abhishek did not get difficult life experience like Amitji.
7. Abhishek copy something from Amitji but Amitji act always on his own acting.
8. Abhishek dance is not like Amitji.
9. Abhishek act well in politician types films and Amitji act well in all type of films.
10. Abhishek is not 100 % preapare as hero but in Amitji's blood is for acting only.
so these are difference but there are some similarity in both of them
similarities
Abhishek and Amitji both wife's are actress.
Both love to each other.
Both love to act.
Both want to make more money.
so that's similarity ..

Heroes seasons 1-2-3
A flawed but highly enjoyable and engaging TV series...plenty of characters and "abilities " to watch out for...but it can understood its highly if i say "inspired" by X-Men..
.
Season 1 was very slow to start with..it picked up from the 7-8th episode...and carried on well..but the grand finale wasnt upto all the hype n hoopla..it was so-so...
.
season 2- was short but extrmely short wd 11 episodes but very good..
.
Season 3- good but highly flawed season...lot of loopholes...the season ends wd a twist..
.
My fav characters include- 1)Hiro Nakamura..damn cute n funny..comic relief wd Ando..
2)Sylar-one cool son of a bi***!! great depth and some good changes in character changes..probably the best character in heroes.
3)Noah Bennet-Heart n soul of Heroes wdout having any abilities..he has got the maximum screen space im sure...
4)claire bennet-cute,hottie
.
ACTORS-
1)zachary quinto-awesome! just awesome!! wat a sylar he has proved to be...he will be surely remembered for this role of his..he is the next big thing in acting!!
2J) jack Coleman-As i said as Noah Bennte he is the heart n soul of Heroes...good guy with "moraly gray"...a memorbale role...looks subtly dangerous
3)Masi Oka-terrific as hiro and future hiro!! the "Jap" way of speaking english is somethng to watch out for...when in reality he speaks perfectly good english...my fav on d show.
4)Milo Ventimiglia-Great performance...plenty of emotional ups n down in his character of peter petrelli...does a commendable job.
5)Adrian Pasdar- the is character just goes from good to evil to good then evil then good...
6) Sendhil Ramamurthy- As Mohinder Suresh was the bore of the century....i hated it when he ended every show with his philosophical speeches and he really looked stupid!!..the first season was almost spolit by him but thankfully his character went thru a few changes later on.
7) Ali Larter-HOT HOT HOT HOT!!! was good as jessica..evil n nasty!
.

Yesterday , i saw in MTV that the name "Toilet" would be better than "Twilight" for this movie......i wonder why , now i came to know......boring movie.....didnt like it at all.....jus two or three scenes were good....can watch it for Kristen Stewart....she was the only reason i stayed in the theatre till the movie is finished....otherwise , it was a waste of time.....better avoid it....or wait till the dvd rip is out , then download it nd watch it when u r bored....5/10

Well , watched Avatar yesterday and needless to say , was deeply Impressed ! The Special Effects , apart from the great storyline , were Mind-Boggling ! James Cameron is one man whom I was all praises for . After Titanic , this is his best movie !
.
But this aint an AVATAR APPRECIATION THREAD ! The purpose of me creating this thread is to discuss the vast difference between the developments in Hollywood and Bollywood. There was once a time when Hollywood had movies with special effects equivalent to what we have now in Bollywood . I still remember the hype YRF had created when Roadside Romeo was ready for release . They boasted of Hollywood type animation but well , it was'nt much of a difference . Though Bollywood has advanced in many phases , this is one field they have yet to cover .
.
AVATAR has an estimated budget of 300$ Million and yeah it looked the cost . Though Bollywood directors boast of high budget , still they fail to create that magic .
.Bollywood is 1007 times better than Hollywood
In Bollywood there is action, drama, emotion, romance, comedy all in one movie, In hollywood you have to see 5 movies.
Actually in the next 10 years hollywood will copy and blend itself to Bollywood style no matter techincal or budget or whatever, now Anil Ambani gives money to Stephen Speilberg to make movie so it doesnt matter.
Moreover In India the canvas is too big.On One end there is Himesh Actor/Singer/Music Director and what not , other end Om Puri/Naseruddin, Songs and Dance Hollywood actors now want to dance around trees with songs, so who is getting inspired.
Very soon you can see hoe it all chnages, Brad Pit will act in a Bhojpuri Film, Tom Cruise in a Tamil Film etc.
Sorry guys Bollywood zindabaad. Ramsay brothers turned in their grave.
RGV created 13 more thrilling horror movies with more chutiya-tomatic schemes to get audiences in.
Producers thinking of hogging their money over re-makes and sequels just with the thought of a Hollywood actor acting in it.
So when will this gap ever finish ? Have Bollywood directors yet to face such experience ?
Hollywood is definitely better than Bollywood, no doubt.
Do not stereotype Bollywood or Hollywood.
In certain aspects, Bollywood is better & in certain other aspects, Hollywood wins the race.
But if u talk about the special effects department, no offence, but Bollywood cannot reach the level of Hollywood, not in the next 10 years at least!!
But I rarely watch Hollywood films. So for me, Bollywood is good but yeah, considering we've got all the resources, I don't see why we cannot make films of Hollywood standards.
Our high budget movies are equivalent to their normal movie....
Why, there is a very simple reason, and that we are still not a developed country. We still doesnt have that kind of money and freedom.
They invest 100 million in a movie and give director complete freedom.
here even if they put 10 million they will put their leg in between. Here directors do not have that kind off freedom. Given a chance with hollywood kinda resources, i think we have better talent.
ummm.. well to be honest, the budget of a multi-starrer sci-fi action hollywood flick is 10 times higher than a normal bollywood flick.
Just like u said, bollywood directors may boast about the high budget of their movies but still they are nowhere near as compared to a normal hollywood flick. That might be one of the reasons.
Without any doubt, there's no lack of talent in India, but, difference in the budget, different in choice of audiences might be the reason why most Indian movies are restricted to the romantic/drama genre.
Walt Disney, perhaps the greatest creators of movies invested a huge deal to combine a superstar of India with something of what was his hobby in a movie binding with China.
The movie was released and flopped and people called the move/investment a Shit deal/
The superstar was Akshay Kumar after 5 consecutive hits in 2008 and the movie was Chandni Chowk to China. [I can run amock with abuses for this]
If the news you talking about gets in motion and gets stalled OR the movie gets released and flops with these 35+ year old Hollywood actors dancing around like shit on some random Bollywood song with bad ass lyrics, where will the future lie? 2012 had most earnings from India.
So an Indian Production house will see business sense in investing in Hollywood technologies, their way of making movies, get their directors, their actors, punch it with a flair of bollywood masala and I forsee not very far away Indian Mythological movies gaining cult status as Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.
If we have the money to pour, I cant see how we cant rule it all.
The question arises, Do you really want to see Jim Carrey/Johnny Depp/Nicholas Cage/Any-Random-Hollywood-Actor dancing around the trees?
If the blend has to happen, it must happen with a sense.
Hollywood actors are best in what they do & so are Bollywood stars. Obviously, the comparison is inevitable but is this comparison justified?
Though u can compare "Pyaar Ke Side-Effects" with "My Sassy Girl"
but i cant compare PYSE with "Surrogates".
Bollywood is known around the globe for good romance/love stories.
But Hollywood has set the standards in all the genres, world-wide.
Just like the above example of CC2C or Kambakkht Ishq, Indian makers have to come out of the mind-set, & same is for the audiences here.
Even if someone tries to make a sci-fi movie in India, he/she blends love-story with that sci-fi plot & as a result, the sci-fi plot takes a backseat.
I am taking about future. Now Indian billionaries are buying parts of the world business space be it in any field.
Ok let me ask you a question you r Anil Ambani, you have a production house, you spend billions in Bollywood, but you see there are movies like 2012 earns maximum of its money from India, where will you produce next, Obviously you will buy into hollywood, and keep the profit.
And When this trend gets heavier slowly these two industries have to meet like Slumdog millionaire, Hollywood movie with Bollywood spice thrown in here and there.
You have the money, you have the audience, to buy the technology and get the get the best script writers and actors is no big deal, so max 10 years, I think the bridge will be gapped and we will be at par with the best. ummmm... plot-wise, Indian makers need to come out of the shell of love-stories.
We have experimented on all sorts of weird concepts in the Romance/love/drama genre & still we are going good. But, we need to come out of this mind-set. Why can't we have more murder mysteries or animations or fantasies or thrillers?
The European Cinema, British & French movies mainly, have been exposed to all these genres years ago. But Bollywood is still waiting for the exposure to happen.
But Bollywood has a stereotypical image world-wide. We need to come out of that image.
The day we break this image, will be the day when u'll see Hollywood stars working side-by-side with Bollywood stars in a sci-fi flick.
Will Smith on his visit to India(around the release of Hancock) said "i desperately want to star in an Indian movie but Bollywood producers cannot afford the concept that i have in my mind
Kung-Fu Panda
Po: My tinders(when his male specific organ gets hurt)
Chandni Chowk To China
Sidhu: mere akhrot(same scene. ditto)
Since then, i started hating Akshay Kumar X-(
USA is more than 10 years ahead of India in technology, so the gap will still remain unless Indian government don't force youth to leave India owing to the lack of support and corruption from their side.
According to bollywood history, what we have seen so far has been disappointing
in terms of story, technical aspect
what'll happen in future, only future can tell
but fortunately some people are trying to change the scenario
anurag kashyap, dibakar banerjee n forgive me whose name i can't remember now
at least on the concept basis
cause this is a well known fact hollywood is far ahead in the technical department
but plot wise also Indian film industry is lagging to european cinema
Most of the animation models are outsourced from India btw as India itself lacks a good production house
What Say !
will continue later
