The Apartment [1960]
Director : Billy Wilder
Cast : Jack Lemmon, Shirley Maclaine, Fred Macmurray
Billy Wilder, the director of the cult comedy movie "Some Like It Hot" created this movie just one year after the classic. "Some Like it Hot" was an extravagant masterpiece with elements of crime, thriller, action, music, drama and offcourse mind boggling comedy. The Apartment on the other hand is a simple story about a person (Lemmon) who does a clerical job in an insurance company and gains popularity and promotion by making his seniors happy. He makes his seniors happy by lending his apartment to them for their extra-marital affairs.
The story takes a sudden turn when Lemmon's love interest(Maclaine) and his insurance company boss (MacMurray) visit his apartment . What follows is a topsy-turvy ride which includes Lemmon trying his best to keep his boss as well as his love interest happy while trying his best to hide his inner feelings for her.
The story is simple and the ending predictable. But what makes this movie enjoyable is the handling of the story by the director and the treatment by the actors . Lemmon plays his role to the tee where sometimes the viewer sympathies with his character. The dialogues of this movie are smartly written with intelligent humorous punches in between . The other cast also play their part perfectly. Some scenes may make you feel that the lead actors are overacting but I guess such acting was the style back then especially for light-hearted movies.

Harry Potter and The Half - Blood Prince
HP movies..they are cool, fun to watch, profoundly entertaining but except they are nothing! The direction of HP movies has always been childish and scripts are shallow..but HP3 was my most fvrt bt now HP6 has come!
HP6 undoubtebly is taking HP series to a new level. This one is dark, creepy, rich wid story content and yet ocassionaly funny too! for the first tym HP movie is talken seriously in story than some VFX treat! I have read d book and i know there is major change in narration at d end of d movie..but wait a minute.. it's not lame at all! I think David Yates has done a great job and has tried to narrate every single, small and required content of d book in d movie!
..This movie takes HP to more dark and mature level! BesT HP yet..according to me!
..7.5/10
Tommorrow Never Dies
Surely not one of the best Bond flicks.....poor direction..........and Bond doing too many heroics hard to digest........yet Pierce as suave as usual.....

Stranger than Fiction
Will Ferrell, Dustin Hoffman, Maggie Gyllenhaal star in this romantic comedy about a Tax Auditor and his boring life which is bounded by a wrist watch . Some radical changes in his life changes his life and he falls in love with a baker .
I loved the treatment of this movie by the director and the actors.
Will was fantastic, Dustin was not used upto his potential but was good nonetheless .
A very refreshing experience, Thumbs up from me

Pineapple Express (2008)
I wanted to see this movie only because of Seth Rogen as his acting is hilarious and his comic timing makes me laugh bunch of times!! In this movie also he has done a good job once again and how can i ignore James Franco..
This movie ain't for all.. I think it's safe to say that if you've liked previous Apatow movies - The 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up - and/or previous Rogen-written movies - Superbad - you'll appreciate Pineapple Express all the more.
..an average comedy flick.

American History X
Hats Off to Edward Norton..His powerful acting makes this movie memorable. Another plus point about the movie is its concept which deals with racism in USA, thus makes this movie mass appealing! Story is about an intelligent white youngster (Norton)
who is forced within to provke racism and rage.. but incidents in his life creates a big change in his path. Edward makes this movie tense by his perfectly protraing the main charact.
..thus brilliant acting, provoking script and a noble message makes this movie a classic!
8.5/10
21 grams
..what went wrong?? This movie could have been a masterpiece, but it isn't!
*Good Things here..
- Every Actor/Actress has performed superb.. especially Benicio Del Toro, i am impressed by his role in this movie..just amazing!
- Cinematography..makes it visually stuning even if scene is boring
- Editing, The whole story is divided in pieces of may be 10 mins and they are shuffeled.. so upto half of d movie you can't understand what the hell is going on!
*Turn Offs
- I was really enjoying d movie but some relations between d characters begin so quickly that you will find it illogical, Relation between Sean Penn and Naomi Watts
- Some twists dont seem natural, it seemed like writer forced twists in story to push it forward!
- Overall story of 21 grams is not special at all, Editing and Superb performances make it watchable..
"..this movie could have been better than this but still worth a watch.."
6.8/10
Casablanca
..first of all I don't watch oldies much, just started some Hitchcock and Clint Eastwood movies which are my favourites. I had heard great reviewes about this movie so watched it yesterday..
..all i can say is that it is a flawless masterpiece! it's grippy to the end, no silly dialogues and drama, mo useless subplots.. just straight to point. Movie creates its own soul and environment! For 102 mins. you will be lost in World of Casablanca, World of Rick's club, World of Tragic love story of Rick, world of Unique love triangle!
..Dialogues are memorable, I liked Humphrey Bogart's performance as Rick and also Ingrid Bergman!
" Casablanca would be more classic ... As Time Goes By "
9.0/10 (as it's made in 1942 , i have to ignore technical values )
Say Anything
John Cusack was so adorable that I didn't have the heart to pick out any flaws in it.
10/10 :)
The eighties was dominated by gorgeous ladies from the South like Jayaprada, Vijayashanthi and Sridevi and Jayaprada was the most gorgeous among them. Jayaprada in a sari was a visual treat to millions of viewers and brands which wanted to promote Saree's. Infact it is difficult to find an Indian heroine who is more beautiful than the ravishing Jayaprada. The great Satyajit Ray once said that Jayaprada is among the most beautiful women in the world.
Jayapradha was born in 1962 and by the team she was 14 she was already a star in Telugu movies. Her real name was Lalita Rani. In 1977 when Jayapradha was just 15 she was co starring with superstar of the South and living legend N T Rama Rao who was delivering one block buster after another in succession. She was already a huge star in regional movies by the tine she was introduced to Bollywood in 1979 through Sargam. The film went on to become a huge super hit and Jayaprada already a big name in South, went on to became a household name in India. Jayaprada bagged the national award for the best actress for her role in the block buster Sargam. When Jayaprada won the national award she was only 17 years old.
In India generally actresses are classified into two categories. In the first category there are actresses who look beautiful but are never known for any great talent while in the second category of actresses are known for their talent but are not as good looking like Shabana Azmi. Jayaprada is one of those rare heroines like Vijayashanthi and Sridevi who are blessed with talent and gorgeous looks. While actresses like Vijayashanthi consistently delivered hits in regional movies, Jayaprada did one better delivering hits in Telugu and Hindi movies simultaneously and on a consistent basis.
Jayaprada's unique talent lied in the fact that she formed a perfect pair with any hero. She was comfortable with N T Rama Rao the superstar of South who was 40 years older to her, as was she with Jeetendra her favourite co star in Hindi who was 20 years older to her. While she looked comfortable with heroes in the top rung, she was equally comfortable with heroes who were not in the top league or those who played supporting roles to her in heroine orinted films. Jayapradha later confessed in her career that Jeetendra was her closest friend in the industry and her favourite co star. Their onscreen chemistry was so brilliant that they consistently delivered block busters like Swarag Se Sunder, Sanjog and Tohfa to name a few. In fact Jeetendra who has a reputation of co starring with almost every top heroine especially South Indian beauties, acted in the most number of movies with Jayaprada as his co-star and Jayaprada on her part has never acted in more number number of films than with any other hero.
While Jayapradha attained instant fame by the time she was 15, Jayapradha faded early because she looked more at home with senior heroes like Jeetendra or his Telugu counterparts to the audience. Her greatest strengths i.e her mature beautiful looks in sarees went against her when senior heroes with whom she got paired quit films or faded way. The audience those days who were accustomed to seeing Jayaprdada to perfection clad in beautiful sarees were not willing to accept her in less glamourous western outfits as was the norm in movies during the later part of her career when younger heroes took over the scene from seniors like Amitabh and Jeetendra.
Eventhough Jayapradha quit movies years back she will remain forever in the minds of millions of Indians as the most beautiful heroine ever to have acted in Indian movies.

In recent times Vijayashanthi has never ever spared an opportunity to attack Chiranjeevi once he expressed his intention to join politics but when it came to their association in movies it is exactly the opposite because Vijayshanthi and Chiranjeevishared lot of similarities in their career. While Chiranjeevi needs no introduction for his achievements speak for himself, people might have forgotten Vijayshanthi because in India, the life span of a heroine is very short as they last only 5 to 7 years in public memory unlike heroes who last for a good two to three decades.
Early Career of Vijayashanthi:- Vijayashanthi shot into prominence with hits like Neti Bharatam very early in her career. Born on 24th January 1966 she made her debut as early in 1979. Vijayashanthi shot into prominence with strong performances in heroine oriented films like Neti Bharatam and Pratighatana. Vijayashanti like her favourite Chiranjeevi never looked back after the super success of Neti Bharatan in 1983. Chiranjeev too never looked back after delivering the super hit movie "Khaidi"
Vijayashanti also swept aside competion like Chiranjeevi:- When Vijayshanti started her career she had competition from other heroines like Radha and Bhanupriya but as is the case with Chiranjeevi once she established herself in movies, she swept aside the competition within no time. Though Vijayashanthi was hugely successful in heroine oriented films she repeatedly co starred in movies with top stars like Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna. She balanced herself beutifully by acting in movies meant for the regular audiences who prefer the hero in the lead role and heroine in the supporting role. This move of Vijayashanthi has to be complemented because many heroines once they attain success in heroine oriented movies consciously or unconsciously have a tendency to deviate from the usual type of films where the movie revolves around the heroine and in the process they take themselves away from the minds of viewers. One such case is that of Rekha whose success in heroine oriented movies meant she moved out of the memory of regular viewers who wanted to see hero oriented films.
Vijayashanti too had a larger than life image like Chiranjeevi:- Once Chiranjeevi made it big in movies, he was given larger than life roles so that there is a clear differentiation between himself and the rest of the heroes. Vijayashanthi's career too followed the same pattern. Unlike her contemporaries like Radha and Bhaupriya who played supporting roles to heroes Vijayashanti was given a role equivalent to that of a hero in the top league like Balakrishna and Venkatesh. In the later part of her career heroes in the top league stopped acting with Vijayashanthi for the fear of being sidelined. This worked as a blessing in disguise for Vijayshanthi as she acted with newer heroes and this heroes were more than happy playing the supporting role to a great actress like Vijayshanthi.
Vijayashanthi like Chiranjeevi had a very long stay at the top:- Once Chiranjeevi acquired super stardom he never lost it till he quit films to join politics. Chiranjeevi was Number 1 for more than 25 years a feat unprecedented in Indian movies. In India the life of a heroine is 5 to 7 years, but Vijayashanti did exceedingly well not only to outlast the normal life span of a heroine but also dominate the scene during her stay. Vijayshanti too had a very long stay at the top which not many heroines in India can boast of.
Vijayashanthi and Chiranjeevi made a perfect couple in movies:-Vijayshanthi and Chiranjeevi pairing was one of the best ever in the history of Telugu movies. Very few combinations in the history of Indian movies can match the on screen chemistry of this famous pair. Apart from Jeetendra-Jayaprada and Jeetendra-Sridevi not many combinations can match this pairing. The pair did 19 movies together and that is the maximum number of movies Vijayashanthi has ever acted with any hero in her career. The 19 films Chiranjeevi did with Vijayashanti is also a record for Chiranjeevi as he has never acted in more number of films than any other heroine in his career. Vijayashanthi as a actress and Chiranjeevi and Vijayashanthi as a combination were at their peak between early 1980s to late 1980s delivering hits in succession and almost each and every film went on to become a super hit. The pair shared a wonderful onscreen chemistry in films like Manchi Donga where they looked a perfect couple and their on screen romancing where they looked the perfect husband and wife was one of the reasons for the film becoming a super hit.
Vijayashanti would never have imagined during her acting career that one day she would have to campaign vociferiously against her favourite co star Chiranjeevi.
