RedTacton

No comments on “RedTacton”

"A new technology that will allow you to use your body as a network transmitter is being developed in Japan.. "

the Human Area Networking technology uses the minute electric field emitted on the surface of the human body to transmit data from one device to another.

According to the makers using the system means touching, gripping, sitting, walking, stepping and other human movements can be the triggers for unlocking or locking, starting or stopping equipment, or obtaining data.

The system works by creating a transmission path at the moment a part of the human body comes in contact with a RedTacton transceiver. Physically separating ends the contact and thus ends communication.

Using RedTacton, communication starts when terminals carried by the user or embedded in devices are linked in various combinations according to the user's natural, physical movements.

Communication is possible using any body surfaces, such as the hands, fingers, arms, feet, face, legs or torso. RedTacton even works through shoes and clothing as well.

One suggestion for the technology is for the system to be embedded into medicine bottles that would then transmit information on the medicines' attributes. If the user touches the wrong medicine, an alarm will trigger on the terminal he or she is carrying. The alarm sounds only if the user actually touches the medicine bottle, reducing false alarms common with passive wireless ID tags, which can trigger simply by proximity.

NTT, who is developing the technology plans to Commercialise the technology once testing has been completed, although currently there is no firm date as to when this might be.

Games are going to be more realistic!!!

No comments on “Games are going to be more realistic!!!”

Yes,games are going to be more realistic...Many of us may have played one or more 3D games,Those packed with action or strategy. The first advancement in gaming industry is the 3D gaming, the next revolution was improved quality of visuals and gameplay, but all the games these days fails to pack an extra punch of realism. But those days are coming to an end fast....It is probably the next revolution in gaming industry. It is the introduction of realtime physics/dynamics in games.

Wait a minute! What is the relation between game and physics??

Physics/dynamics in games correspond to the ability of a game to calculate realtime dynamic interation of objects. For example, a few years ago if you were to play a football game, the ball dribbling, ball bouncing etc was pre animated so you'd not feel the realism of playing it,but nowadays there are real physics in games that allow the foolball to behave just like a real one in the game.Another example should clear things up,If you had played counter strike game you'd notice some of the objects like guns or bullets can go through the walls, and every time someone is shot, they do the same action of dying ,these are because the game doesn't calculate dynamic interaction of objects.

But a new technology called Dynamic Motion Synthesis(DMS) is changing everything. It enables the games to calculate realtime dynamic interaction of objects in a game. For example, you'll have realistic crashing of car, realistic fall of building during explosion, realistic fall of a character whel shot, etc.

Dynamic Motion Synthesis(DMS) is a completely new approach to 3D character animation. Unlike conventional animation techniques, such as keyframing or motion capture, Dynamic Motion Synthesis uses the processing power of the CPU to create the character’s movements in realtime. This is achieved through intensive Artificial intelligence.

3D character have artificial intelligence so that you can have realistic reactions, for example in any  shootout game, when you throw a grenade, the characters nearby might run..but through DMS, we can make the character to run to nearby cover,or the character may lie down and put it's hands on the head, all this using AI.

The DMS was invented by a company named NaturalMotion,in 2001.it just began as a biomechanical study of movements and actions of animals and humans, but they started to replicate those movements by simulating it in computer and the result was DMS.The company offers 3 products-endorphin, euphoria and morpheme.

These tools are not only used for games, they are also used for animation characters in a 3D movie.

Usually it takes days for animators to do a keyframe animation for a comlete action sequence, but using DMS tools,it can be done in a matter of hours. This tool is already being used by major game companies like THQ,Sony, etc., and movie production companies like sony and disney

visit the following site and review some videos to see the amazing technology(remember the characters in the video are not being controlled by any one,but they interact with themselves in realtime)

Microsoft's New Search Engine !!! Bing !!!

Bing

So here we are again, the clash of the Titans continues. Microsoft has decided to revamp it's LIVE search ( and take on Google search ) and renamed it as Bing. But it's not that only the name has changed. MS has added a whole lot of features. Here are a few of them ( in fact lot's of them). When I logged on to Bing for the first time, here's what I got..

So let's go deeper into the new LIVE search engine.

According to Microsoft, Bing lets you find Web content fast and excels at refining searches so that you can unearth the lowest airfares, discover reviews of neighborhood boutiques, or track down reliable health information from the Mayo Clinic.

Bing2

In Bing, Microsoft introduces a Quick Previews feature that provides a text-based synopsis of the pages displayed in your search results. When you drag your mouse cursor over individual search results, a Quick Previews box of data pops up, containing information from the site.

Bing peppers its search results with what Microsoft calls Instant Answers. As the name implies, Instant Answers entries serve up answers to common questions related to currency conversion, weather forecasts, movie times, or whatever you're investigating.

Save & Share lets you save, organize, and share recent searches. You can share searches with Facebook or Windows Live friends, or save them to your Microsoft SkyDrive folder. The Save & Share function not only allows you to save your favorite searches, but also lets you organize them into folders and add notes to them.

According to Microsoft, 50 percent of all searches are repeats; saving your favorite searches offers a shortcut to the results of a search that you might otherwise have to repeat from scratch.

The primary difference between Live Search and Bing is the user interface. Bing Image and Video Search is more intuitive than its predecessor, Microsoft says, and all of the filtering tools are conveniently and consistently grouped in the Explorer Pane.

Microsoft retooled Live Search's Image and Video Search to make it easier for users to find full-length TV shows, music videos, and other video content from leading content providers such as Hulu and YouTube.

Microsoft has updated the search engine's interface so that you can extract what the company calls “sentiment” regarding a particular service or business. This feature works by scanning consumer product ratings from sites such as CitySearch.com and Yelp.com, and mashing those results together with Bing search results.

For example, a search for “Chinese restaurants” brings up a 'Local' tab in the left-hand pane (the Explorer Pane) of the search results page. Select this tab, and you can browse local Chinese restaurants within a geographical area you select. Click on one of the restaurants listed in the search results, and Bing serves up a Score Card containing ratings for several key criteria: 'Atmosphere', 'Food Quality', and 'Return Potential'.

Suppose that you're shopping for a Nikon D90 digital SLR (or some other product). Bing will deliver detailed reports--not search results--for the product in question, pulling images, pricing information, user reviews, expert reviews, and much more from various Web sites and neatly displaying the information on a single page. Search reports include active data that you can sort by various criteria, yielding product details in one click, along with expert reviews from leading tech Web sites.

Using technology that it acquired when it purchased Farecast in 2008, Microsoft brings some uniquely advanced technology to search queries involving travel and buying tickets. Farecast, a tool for comparing airfares, uses a predictive algorithm to recommend when you should purchase your airline ticket. The Farecast technology is tightly integrated with Bing, so you can use advanced pricing tools from within Bing's search results.

Farecast technology enables Microsoft to bring smarts to the task of finding good prices for hotel reservations. When you search for accommodations within a specific region, Bing travel results show you a category of results that it calls Hotel Deals. According to Microsoft, Bing calculates the historical price of a room at a specific hotel, compares that price with the current rate that the hotel is offering, and assesses whether the current price is a good deal or not.

Bing offers a wealth of new content from the Mayo Clinic, allowing it to serve up reliable data on health topics such as diabetes, cancer, and swine flu. A test query for "swine flu" yielded a Mayo Clinic overview of the H1N1 type A influenza strain.
