In our parts the Muharram is not celebrated but a day to remember Hussain who sacrificed his children , the period of mourning when they weep remembring their sacrifices.

@Sandhya- You have to decide weather this is about mahanavami the B'day of your daughter, Bakrid in Kerala or Muharram the New Year that is a few months away- How was the celebration and where is my sweet/cake for the auspicious occasion??? :) I read you made for 20 and only 12 came. You must be eating leftovers.

you know well, we celebrate birthdays according to star....
Her DOB is Oct 20.
But she was born on Mahanavami day in 2007. Mahanavami always come on Thiruvonam star...applicable both for North and South Indians.
Desara celebrations begins in the second month......(Kanni). My girl was born on Thulam. So, if 10 day celebration completes on Thulam month, of course it will fall on my girl's birthday. Understood?
After 2007, it's for the first time, Vijayadesami/Mahanavami falls on 3rd month..Thulam.
We never celebrate with cakes...but with Kerala sadya..pure vegetarian.....
Every year, it's celebrated as Thiruvonam.........of Chingam..... :P (she belongs to Thiruvonam star)

If her date of birth is 20th October, then you are privileged to give 2 treats this year for kid's birthday Madam.
