Okay, when I go to Bangladesh for one day, I always take food with me. I don't know why but I try to avoid eating there. I cannot stand the smell of fish which is a common dish in almost every restaurant there.
A vegetarian colleague accompanied me for two weeks official tour toUSA. Everyday he used to get to eat only salads with cheese at the place where we had tostay. After 3- 4 days he started feelig revolted at the smell of cheese when he would open the salad box. He started keeping himself hungary by avoiding eating salads everyday.We had to hunt for fruits etc for him. Food is important especially when on tours abroad. The positive outcome of an experience where you are forced to eat salad/soup or fruits is the detoxification your system gets and on top of that if you are half starving, am sure one can lose a few pounds too, an added advantage..

If I lose few pounds from my present 74 KG (I am 74 inch tall) I will probably look too weak. So I eat enough sweets,fruits and bakery items besides consuming milk and cornflakes that keeps me alive. I regret being a vegetarian for last 12 years at such occasions.
I too am a vegetarian and eat sea food and fish , no meat. But I have never had a problem with food because there is such a variety of choice.. In fact I always gain a few pounds because of all the pastries and chocolates and goodies and have to work it out when I get back..

Even I had no problem despite being a vegetarian anywhere but in China. I could not find a single thing there which I could trust apart from fruits, bread and butter.

If some one eat fish and sea food, how they are vegetarian.
In their tradition they are vegetarians, from thousands of years. Any problems.
Fish is seafood, not meat so you can be called fisheatarian not non vegetarian..most people living on the coast eat fish almost daily along with vegetables

People in Bengal call Ram- Turai (ridged gourd of lord Rama) Sounds strange to people in north but it is common in coastal areas.
