New Delhi, Dec 1 (PTI) 'Oomph' factor does make the likes of Katrina Kaif and Rakhi Sawant popular in online media, but they have been beaten by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi as the top newsmaker on the popular search engine.

According to Yahoo! India News, the leading online news website, Rahul emerged clear winner in the newsmaker category, followed by cricketers and Bollywood stars.

This is a very interesting news, i never thought a politician can beat any celebrity in the popular searches. Anyway wish Rahul turns out to be a big factor in Indian politics
Undoubtedly, Rahul gandhi is very active in politics and he is often in news for visiting places, meeting dalit and adivasi families and other similar things. The print and electronic media give him more weightage owing to dynastic political leanings. Naturally, he is top news maker.

There is a contradiction. Rahul's more occurrences in internet searches have nothing to do with his popularity and work in UP because UPites don't use the net much - at least to read about Rahul G. They read newspapers instead for such stuff.

May be Congressi PR agency did a good work here.

There is also possibility of other Rahuls like Rahul mahajan mixed up with Rahul Gandhi. The Congress PR agency may also have done job. The U.P. Congressmen especially those in Amethi and surrounding area have no work other than worshipping Rahul/ Sonia. So whenever they use internet, they search for these leaders.

It is all a massive propaganda being conducted by congress, in my opinion.

In India yahoo accounts for 30% of searchers while Google accounts for 70% of the searchers ,He should thank yahoo for being there as a option.

Which just shows that popularity is merely a numbers game. Outside yahoo, noone really cares for him!

i agree with Gulshan it may be Rahul's as Rahul mahajan is hot item presntly for beating his wife...than Rahul Gandhi :woohoo: I think other search engines do not show Rahul Gandhi in top search..

I have also read in a magazine that a survey was conducted to vote for the right match for Rahul Gandhi. Most people voted for Vidhya Balan as a perfect match for Rahul Gandhi.Great surveys and great result. This is a new technique adapted by politicians for publicity.
