With allegations of corruption plaguing the Commonwealth Games, Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday said those found guilty will be punished after the event.

Terming the Commonwealth Games as "a matter of national pride", she said the Games were not related to any political party or individual. "It was a matter of national pride, and efforts should be made to hold them successfully."

At the same time, she said, those found guilty of corruption in works related to the Games would be punished after the event.

Ya its a good statement, atleast people are taking measures to avoid corruption
It's a crying shame! We have made a laughing stock of ourselves in the eyes of the world.Corruption has not spared any sphere of our life.
Soniyaji only meant that those who doesn't give 50% commission/Hapta to 10 Janpath from their private share from multi billion scams will be punished.
Who is Sonia to make such a statement? Is she a home minister or prime minister? She is a president of ruling party. This statement should come from either Prime Minister or Home Minister not party president.

It merely shows again our PM's remote is in the hand of his party president.

There is no doubt that guilty must be punished.

I think its only a ploy to distract the people from the entire issue of commonwealth ames' corruption rackets. After the games, people will forget all about it and go back to their lives!

Delaying and postponing for anyhow continuing in power is the special feature of congress. Alliance with Pro Naxal Mamata Banerjee is an indicator. Being embarrassed with allegations of corruption in commonwealth games, the union government is just postponing the enquiry.

As regards Sonia Gandhi's statement that commonwealth games are 'national pride' it may be reiterated that commonwealth is nothing but a gathering of ex slave states of British empire. The ex officio head of commonwealth is the British Queen Obviously, commonwealth as well as commonwealth games are 'national shame' and not 'national pride' as suggested by Sonia Gandhi. That is why mayor of Varanasi refused to participate in commonwealth games celebrations.
