I think Kamal Hasan should have gotten it earlier. But better late than never. :)
Generally these awards are not for from controversies. If an award is not conferred to the right person in right time, very purpose of the honor loses its purpose. For example Dadasaheb award was conferred on Veteran Pran has come lately.
