Bindi or kumkum are just traditional ornamentation. This is okay to those who are accustone to this. But thw ldwise, this is not in vogue. It can't be said that women putting n Bindi or kmkum are superior to ther women. The manufacturers will definitely advertise anthing or directly or indirectly through paid news.

May be in some parts of thecountry wearing Bindi is not in vogue. But ,in S. India, especially in the state of AP, it's very much in vogue and not wearing Bindi is considered as inauspicious. The belief is, if a woman's without BindiI she will be taken as a widow.

The tradion of wearing a Bindi is much much older than the Advertising profession.

Wearing bindi on the forehead is an ancient cultural norm, meant to signify that the woman is married.  These days, the so-called synthetic bindis have completely spoiled the very looks of any women.  It is becoming a fashion to regret anything that had been practiced for a long time.  Only time will tell if we can or will go back to the traditional ways of dressing up.

Lack of understanding on Indian traditions and their significance is the cause for derogatory comments. Yes, the time is not far away when people start realizing the worth of Indian culture and traditions.

Nobody objects to Bindi. But to say that bindi wearing women are more intelligent than others is unacceptable.

Welcome. Opinions may vary. Believers, non- believers, neutrals may express their views in the forum.

If putting Bindis increases brain power then why only women should wear it . Why not men? Before contributing to the forum all of us should put bindis to make brainy contributions and prevent spreading crazy ideas even if they are in name of culture.

Men also wear Bindi. It's not spreading crazy ideas. It's a tradition for many and it;s crazy for a few.. It's up to you to believe it or not.

Bindi is just a traditional symbol and more of an ornament for women and men too in many parts of south India. My uncles and ancesters never left home without kumkum on their forehead. However, I am of the opinion that it is like any other ornament like earrings, noserings or anklets which are superficial and have nothing to do with bri9an power or mental superiority...

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

Some companies are not allowing the women to put Kum-kum on their head. There is a saying in tamil that "Neerila netriku azagu paz".

I heard certainorganizations do not allow wearing bangles and flowers, but I didn't hear about not allowing women employees to wear Bindi or KumKum.

Exactly, never heard companies not allowing women to wear bindi.
