The entire educational system (from the beginning to professional and technical colleges) needs to be changed in order to shift our focus from just scoring high numbers to getting adequate practical knowledge. From my own experience students who stand first and get first ranks in schools and pre universities are not the ones that get great placements when they come out of professional schools, it is those who are all arounders ..

Exactly.. one of friends is a school teacher who teaches Maths and Science to std X students and she too said the same thing, students who score 90% and more are the ones who really do not have complete grasp of the subjects, with exceptions of course. But this is due to the fact that they spend more time in mugging up answers rather than understanding the concepts clearly. This is the reason why we so few students who come first in boards etc. achieving an illustrious career as compared to so-called average students!

Yes nowadays in schools they are giving project work. It will help students to get more knowledge about the subjects.
