Education system in India has become a money making business. Otherwise there won't be 552 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu and 1.2 lakh seats fall vacant in this year counselling. Quality of education should be improved. A diploma passed out student has much more in depth knowledge on the subject than an engineering graduate. Many advancements have come in all technologies. But students still study only first or second generation technology. This drawback pushes students into many coaching centers to learn what they need at this point of time.

Yes, mere opening of educational institutes technical or non-technical does not ensure good education, but quality of education should be improved. Technological advancement should be leveraged in educational institutes get maximum benefit.

Atleast in the present scenario, levaraging technological advancent through these institutions is not possible. Because, these pseudo institutions have the blessings of the education department itself. Parents should totally ban these institutions.

Yes, but parents don't ban it...some schools are running with huge no.of students without proper affiliation..still parents opt for such schools..same goes with technical colleges.

In tamilnadu there are several seats got vacant at the end of engineering councelling at anna university. This shows the interest of students towards engineering and also lack of well equipped engineering colleges.

Then the parents are committing harakiri. They are playing with the careers of their children. None can save such ignorant parents.
Parents should stop comparing with other children at least in education. This comparison finally does not bring out the potential hidden inside their child.

Various departments of engineering are there. But no student gets placed in their respective core companies. A mechanical engineer works in software company. A computer graduate works as recruiter. A science graduate becomes sales manager. From this how can we expect new ideas and developments in industries in India. There wont be any knowledge development in our country which results in depending on other countries for each and every thing.

This sorry state of affairs can be amended with the active cooperation of parents and the education ministry. First of all majority of the parents are lured by these pseudo educational institutions. I think parents are to be educated first.

True..even some s/w engineering students take up writing jobs and other similar jobs because they realize that they had taken up engg because of parental pressure. And sometimes only a certain kind of education cannot land you a job or you cannot make a career merely out of the kind of education you have received...a lot depends on your skillset and interets too, which students/people come to know about at a later stage.

Children also should try to convince the parents about their own niche. If the parents are ignorant, it's up to the children to talk about their strong traits and the demand for such skills

Yes, I agree, children should explain their parents...but most parents want their children to be a doctor, engineer, and these days most parents want their children to take up MBA. The idea of doing something else or studying something else is still a threat to some parents.
