They had a discussion the newhour as well...Any such program is bound to have its pros and cons since a large amount of money is involved and even after that it may not really make any difference to the day today lives of the millions of Indians...

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

The ISRO scientists have argued that the total expenses on the Mars mission is much less than that spent on Diwali crackers every year. Diwali crackers result in many mishaps, cause noise and air pollution without any benefit to nation.

India is not at all a poor country. India is artificially made poor.

Mission Mars is great achievement for a country like India. I feel proud to read this news.

Can these social activists say if all the schemes and acts for the benefit of the common man are proving beneficial to the common man, on whom they are showing pity ? The same social activists blame in unison if the country depends on every small thing on other countries. They should be glad that the country is becoming 'Self- sufficient" in technological and scientific spheres.

Scientific development will never stand in the progress of a country. It can be used to eradicate poverty if properly used.
India definitely has a large population of poor and hungry people and government needs to focus on uplifting the status of such people. But equally important is expenditure on science and research and space adventures such as Mars mission. Poor can be easily fed with the money that is stolen by the dirty politicians and there is no need to cut expenditure on science research which are very essential. People spend way more money collectively on diwali crackers, on Bollywood movies, on cricket matches than is spent on science. So social activists should take their agenda outside cinema halls where stupid movies are shown and deter people from watching mindless violent films.

If it succeeds, India will be the first nation to reach mars and this interplanetary mission will make India ahead of its rivals China and Japan.

Scientists are confident that the Mission will succeed. It has a already passed through the most critical phases.
Crisis of food and drinking water together with price inflation has changed mind of almost every people of the country. Therefore the dream to make country free from corruption and other crimes is just a dream. Hunger and poverty will never end. Instead, crime will increase. Release of money will be of no use. All will be stolen by others. This is the matter of mentality and not the setback of politics.
Thus I will prefer India to move forward together with its poor people.
