Most of us here are writing articles since a long time ...One of my friends from another writing article site was teling me that she work on and writes at least 5 articles at the same time ! Honestly I cannot do it.The most I can do is to jot down ideas for would be articles, while working on one..how about you all?

There are some excellent writers who are able to give complete attention and write 2 or 3 articles a day, all brilliant stuff ! But that is a very rare thing since they do only that and have become veterans at it. For most others it is a balancing act doing house work and other related chores, attending to a job and spend whatever time we get to write articles, so writing an article per week is the best I can do...I wish I could write at least an article a day if not more !

I think mnay of us fall in the second category. I am sure you too do the same - look after the house and be active in writing articles as well. So, it is natural to concentrate on only one thing at a time.

True ! Thats why I wish I get uninterrupted 3 -4 hours a day when I can sit and concentrate on wrtiting an article a day....I know that can never happen since there are a dozen odd things that needs to be done !

So, how much stuff can you write in those 3-4 hours. For me, when I write for my site, I find a topic, wirte the article, post it and do some marketing. All that takes about 1.5 hours. So, that's possible for me to write two in a day pretty easily.

Two articles in a day is good ! I may write 2000 - 3000 words at the most in 3 hours because I keep getting ideas and I keep deleting and adding on as I write which takes time... Very rarely I finish an article at one sitting !

I also never finish article at one sitting. in the beginning I used to do that. But after the articles were published, i came across silly mistakes such as typing errors, use of prepositions etc. So, nowadays, I avoid finishing everything at one sitting.

Just a correction here (mentioning it just because you mentioned that there were mistakes in your write-ups - and yes, I am no one to correct things as I am also liable to making mistakes) - they say "in one sitting" not "at one sitting". Sorry if that was flashy.

Both can be used either at or in....http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/at+one+sitting

That's why I said that I am also libalbe to making mistakes. Secondly, whenever I heard, I always heard "in one sitting". I would say, this is addition to my knowledge. Thanks!

So the fight is on to find grammatical mistakes... kool.. It would be learning for all. :) :)...

I don't mind calling it a fight. And if there is a learning curve for all of us...never mind... and yes, it's spelt "cool" and not "kool". There's something I would like to add, but it depends on what response I get.

When we speak about grammar and expressions we also need to remember that old English was rotally different and so were the grammatical structures and as the transition took place I am sure many people would have pointed out what they thought was a mistake but was actually a new way of addressing like KOOOOOOLLL..... :P

On a serious note, I would like to ask you about transition as you mentioned in your response. Some days ago, we used to subscribe to Times of India newspaper. In there, the "I" was always written as "i". So, is it any new form of writing the "I"?

Times of India has become so commercial now and a scandal bag giving importance to celebrity gossip...However, I feel that it may be a print mistake that a single person I is written in small letter.I have not come across it and if that is now the norm , I am not aware of it...

Grammar is changing very fast in all places, if you read the way Australians write English here, you'll be absolutely baffled. They write every sentence in 'passive form' even in information brochures which at times reads odd, but that's how they write here.
I can write one article at one time. Nobody can do proper justice to all his or her work if they are not professional writers. I can not even think in those terms.

It's not like that. Everyone is different and has a different mindset. What you said here is how your frame of mind is. But with practice one can work on multiple articles. It is just the question of getting oneself set to how much has been written and what comes in next.

Yes even their pronunciation is different to that of either British or American English....Language is afetrall man made and is bound to change over a period of time...

This indeed looks odd. But even we use the passive form when speaking and writing and that happens without our knowledge when we are used to it. Yes, change is permanent.

Change is one thing that can never be permanent, it will never change in that case. :)
I normally write only those topics that interest me since I am unable to work up interest on others. However, when we had the contest here with given topics it was really nice to write on varied subjects since you got to learn many new subjects which also broadened my line of activity later. I do hpe we have such contests whhere we are given a target which is far more motivating since I personally work better when I am under pressure !

That's exactly opposite how it works in my case! Pressure kills my mind and whatever I am!!!! :P :P :P :P

Most intellectuals feel that way, they dont like to work while under pressure but for lesser and lazier mortals  pressure is the only thing that works..I find that most people do this. You find the maximum rush on the last day of paying the bills or students writing during the last 15 minutes when they are taking an exam...

No, no! Ma'am! That was how an even lesser and a lot more lazier soul was venting his woes!!!

LOL :P :P :P :P Hard to believe ! :P BTW I have heard that many intellectuals are lazy and work only when inspiration over takes them !

Okay!! I would love to be one and strive to be one from now on!! I aspire, perspire, who's there to inspire??

I guess the best person to inspire is yourself ...I feel that no one can do it better than ourselves ! Once we are inspired and motivated sky is the limit !

That's inspiring but I don't have the thing in myself to reach out to that limitless heavens. In fact, what encourages me to think big is your assertion that they are lazy people, laziness happens to be the only common ground and lights up my hopes to become one one day!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:
Writing is a creative work. For me I searched for inspiration like from books from everyday experience. Last night while returning I saw a car without a driver. I am not sure but my mind Nd eyes which creates the cognitive aspects of thinking does infer it. All these can be the sources of writings.

You can even create 5 distinct topics from one single topic. The other day I was watching TV about cricket news and they divided every bit as a single piece. So, we need to find sub-topics from bigger stories to be able to write more.
I have seen some articles written by Indians who would have thought in their mothertongue and translated the sentences into English while writing the article ! It does sound odd because they would have made an exact copy - for example in Kannada we say ' neevu hege iddeeri? which means how are you ? but an actual translation goes You how are ? I have actually seen some writers do this ...I feel that when you write in English, you cannot make any excuses saying that since it is not your mother tongue, anything goes...

I had once heard Amar Singh say that he first thinks in his mother tongue and then translates it in his mind and then speaks. He was talking about how he manages to speak in English in the public.
One can work more than one artivle at time. It depends the ability of the person. Hope everyone agrees on this.

I doubt that, all writers have developed their ability to write ...writing many articles at the same time is also possible for many, but at what cost ?

Yes one can work on more than one article but that person will have to keep switching his mindset off and on while going from one article to another. I can imagine that in terms of once I started working on one article but did not like its progress so started another one and after finishing the one in hand went back to unfinished one. No one can write more than one simultaneously switching from tab to tab without mixing up or spoiling the whole concept. I presented my side of the way of doing a job, maybe there are talented people who can handle more than one - all at the same time.

It's a question of habit formation. Once one gets used to doign something over and over again, there is no need to waste time doing things separately. Though the time taken this to perfect would vary, everyone can do that, if done with purpose and effort.

Absolutely true! We tend to be under overpowering influence of our respective mother tongues that effects could be so unnaturally funny!!!

That is likely to happen in the learning stage. But when one gets used to the laungage and can use it confidently, I am sure, the fear and the (unwarranted fun) will go away.

I can't be authoritatively conclusive as to when one's precisely a learner or a master as I honestly believe that learning itself is a continuous process!!!

Exactly. And everyone's capacity to grasp is also different. So, if you learn a certain thing in, say two attempts, I may even need 5 or 10. But yes, the process never ends, that's true.

That's the point I had in my mind! A learner who has set out to learn may be a master to others but he or she knows that he or she would cease to be so when learning ends!!!
