A software engineer and a Mumbai-based prostitute has been detained in Bangalore on Friday, Nov 19 and a major online sex racket was unveiled.

The engineer Vijay Kumar, the prostitute, Riya were arrested from a hotel room, police stated.

Police officials also informed, "The racket has been going on for nearly two years. Vijay Kumar used to contact a pimp called Kalpana in Mumbai through the Internet to ask her to send girls for him."

"We have been looking to crack down on online prostitution rackets for a few months as they have become rampant in the city," it added.

There are many adult sites on the internet and advertisement about call girls in the guise of 'escorts'. As long as there are such service suppliers and consumers, it appears that the rackets cannot be removed. In such cases, there are no aggrieved parties and persons involved are rich enough to bribe police.
I too consider it is very hard to eradicate the online sex rackets. As far as there are people who go for it,it cannot be eradicated.

That is why administration should not bother about this. There is no aggrieved party in such cases. The police should bother more about kidnapping, robbery, rape etc where there are aggrieved parties.
This menance can be removed only by blocking such sites in India.
Online was to be entered in that field also. Now it also occured!!
The online adult sites are available to all including minors. The cyber cafe are held responsible for these sites and normally, nobody may visit these sides. But in home, children easily get access to these sites. The parents have to play a role by blocking such sites- may be with expert help.

Parents should always have a eye on the sites which their children browse everyday by going through the history option available. :) :)
I too wonder how administration can eradicate this menace!

I AGREE WITH NAGALAKSHMI...ITS THE DUTY OF PARENTS TO LOOK AFTER ALL THE THINGS THAT THEIR CHILDEN DO IT ON NET......
But they have grown smart enough to delete the history! However parental control should be always there.
As Chinmoy suggested though the children are smart enough to delete the history, the parents should be double smart than them.

Advancement in technology is equally used in all fields including sex rackets. It is really disturbing.

At home the only method is to keep net connected computer in a public place!
:( This is very disgusting indeed.. :(

Parents are the first teachers to the children from their childhood. They should be aware of all the upcoming problems and should show their kids the right path...
I agree that parents should take all knowledge of their child's activity.....
