In one thread I told about back pain in women. Now it is men's turn.

Men in India are at higher risk of heart ailments than women, a survey has found. The 2010 Saffola Life study, released earlier this week, surveyed over 60,000 people from across the country and found the risk group in men is between 30-39 years, while in women it is between the age group of 50-59.

Men are more prone to cardio vascular disease because of the naturally occurring sex hormones. The sex hormones in men which are testosterone, estradiol, androstenedione, estrone are related to the levels of the cholesterol present in the body. When body contains high levels of low density lipoproteins and low levels of high density lipoproteins it is considered as dangerous and alarming.

Women are not prone to this risk with the sex hormone. The release of estrogen is considered giving a relaxing effect and reduce the risk of cardio vascular diseases where as it is not the case with men. Research reveals that more number of men reported dead every year than women and the sex hormones are to be blamed. The higher the levels of sex hormones the greater is the risk of cardio vascular diseases.
Yes,I perfectly agree with the explanation given by Shil.It is the estrogen harmone which protects women. :)
It is the variance in life style of men and women that causes more heart ailments in men. Men are a worried specie with lot of responsibilities.

Very good explanatory post from Shil, thanks! Apart from this the stress and strain of present day life can be attributed to the growing cases of cardio-vascular diseases among men and women both!
@Gulshan i think you are making the stress problem a gender issue by stating that men are having more problems and responsibilities..but in real anyone has worries and problems irrespective of gender in today's world...

I absolutely agree with shil, scientific reason is there and it is hormone that protects women.
I think women are as much exposed to this problem today with their exposure to the outide world with all its pressures and strains!

I am not making this a gender issue. women functioning in same conditions as men have equal chances of stress. But in case of housewives, the men have greater social and job burdens and responsibility and thus have more stress. In isolated cases, women may bear more stress and men be carefree. We are talking about factual position and not discriminating on gender issue.
