The indian scientists are preparing to send probes to greater depths to monitor changes in the earth's crust.This is the first project in this part of the world.The scientists are planning to drill a borehole up to eight kilometers deep into the earth in the quake-prone Koyna region in Maharastra to understand the changes that occur underground when a earthquake strikes.

Nice information, a borehole, adding water storage tanks and bringing the first potable water source to the entire region around village would make advantage!

The existence of such borewells which are also known bowlies was found in Delhi and surrounding areas which were dug during the Mughal period.
