I believe mercy killing is against the law in India. But sometimes i feel that they can die peacefully instead of the struggles and difficulties they face.

Meean, you raised a good topic. Mercy killing or Euthanasia would be an act of kindness for many terminally ill patients who cannot be cured further and are only suffering agony. It would be a greatest act of kindness to release them from their miseries. Also there are many who are brain dead due to severe brain strokes or as a result of serious accidents. Such patients are kept alive on life support system and are kept alive mainly because nothing can be done about them. They become only a matter of burden to their relatives and cannot be cured or revived. It would be better to let them go through euthanasia.

Good topic indeed!

I support mercy killing , but people will misuse it and kill their old parents and relatives for property and other personal reasons
Mercy killing should be allowed when life is most painful. When life is a curse, there should be option for voluntary death. In case of chronic and painful diseases, when patient is bed ridden and dependent on others even for routine body functions, it is advisable to allow killing in the least painful manner.

It is against my religious faith and belief. So I don't support it.

Abid- all religions have some views about various matters. If we go by fixed ideas written in some books- religious or otherwise, we need not discuss anything. We just have to go by what is already said by our ancestors.

Keeping a person alive via artificial means of various life support systems is only adding further misery to the patient and their relatives. I don't think letting such a person go peacefully will be against any religion whatsoever.

I don't agree with your views friends.God has given the noble life to humans. So no human has right to kill other as well as himself whatever be the reason behind it.The illness is given by God and he may also cure it.Doctors and others are only an agent in between. That is my belief.

In my opinion it depends on the limits we establish, what cases are worth this mercy killing and what cases the loss of life quality can be tolerated...and most importantly, if it is voluntary or if previously the person tells his wish to be killed if specific situations are achieved, such as severe brain injury. Personally, I wouldn't want to be kept alive by machines as a half-dead "vegetable"...but I would'nt want to be killed if I got para/tetraplegic.

Abid- in normal circumstances, your views are okay. The question of mercy killing arises only when life is curse and not gift from God. secondly, mercy killing may not involve actual killing. If the disease is hopelessly incurable and life is very painful, mere stoppage of giving treatment will kill the patient. This is actually n killing. I think that religion does not require you to continue treatment when disease is incurable.

Mercy killing is never agreeable. No one has the right to kill anyone for any reason.
