Surely it will spoil our culture and we will be good for nothing with no culture

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as the saying goes.A nation which fogets its own roots invites the ridicule of others.I am not opposed to idea of imbibing the best others but when it comes to aping others I feel simply digusted and not even amused!

The west is influencing us and we also influence them. We are not losing our identity. We read our own literature. We abide by our customs and observe our festivals. all our languages, dance forms, food habits, dress are distinctly Indian. Some influence will always be there because of better contact between nations.

The point essentially is what we should be accepting and what we should rejecting when we are exposed to an alien culture. What I find absolutely unacceptable is ludicrous attempts to ape.

The western culture is affecting us but by and large, we retain our identity in the food habits, language, dress, music and other arts. We have also influenced the west.

Cultural exchanges do enrich the respective cultures and this process is on from time immemorial and whether one likes it or not it is bound to take place. And in doing so one should not lose his or her moorings.

No body loses his identity unless he apes. We Indians have borrowed some thing from different places and civilizations but all have been assimilated by us and we remain distinctly Indian. We have even contributed to English language. Whatever we get from abroad becomes distinctly Indian.

Very correct Bhanu. Indian spirit is always intact. This remind me of famous song in awara- mera joota hai japani, patloon englishtani, sir pe lal topi roosi, phir bhi dil hai hindutani.
( I am wearing Japanese shoes, English trousers, red Russian cap- even then, my heart is Indian."

Cultural invasion may destroy a country as a whole. If it occurs it should be cared.
