The reason for NDTV's ban for one day  is it has strategically sensitive information during the course of its coverage of anti terror operations at the Pathankot air base earlier this year. But every channel and News paper had similar coverage. I wonder why only NDTV is singled out.

There may be some solid reason for banning a single channel, and this will be a lesson for others also. Other channels will also think twice before reporting on such incidents.

The real culprit is the source from which NDTV or others got the sensitive information. It is duty of govt officials and politicians like ministers, MPs who get access to sensitive information ti keep secrets in accordance with office of secrecy. On the other hand, a news channel has the job of reporting  To elucidate,  it is wrong for a man of character to visit a prostitute but a prostitute's duty is to satisfy who goes to her and not to help him in maintaining character.  

I personally think that One day is not enough for them to teach, how big mistake they have done.

This,is not the first time that Barkha Dutt and Rajdeep Sardesai have gone overboard putting the nations security at risk in their bid to please the opposition .. What is being done is a small measure by the ministry which has the authority to discipline such erring media reporters . I am glad this govt is taking on some much needed disciplinarian measures that are fair..but of course NDTV has come out with its own defense which sounds quite lame .

@Usha wants the channels to please the government and not the opposition which in fact should not exist!!!

The Government said, the channel's reporting of the stockpiled in the  air base, Migs,, fighter plains rocket launchers, Mortars , Helicopters, fuel tanks,which was likely to be used by the Terrorist themselves or their handlers to cause massive harm not only to National security, but also to the Civilians and Defence Personnel. This was the reason for the Ban on NDTY

No point in skirting the issue here which is a wrong doing of a tv channel towards the nation for which the present govt has taken a firm stand which in fact shd have been earlier by the previous govt since this is not the first time that the said channel had put the nation at risk .

Our media has the freedom but it forgets to keep the limitations in mind that comes with every freedom. Hopefully, this teaches them some lesson. Sad that every one needs a moral policing from outside. And I wonder if anyone holds that credibility to be a moral police
