Very very true. It was out of pain the classic Guernica , the master piece of Pablo Picasso was created. There is an interesting
story associated with it.
nazis invaded Guernica , the native place of Picasso in Spain. This pain prompted him to paint Guernica depicting devastation done by the Nazis. While he was painting Nazi soldiers raided Picasso's house thinking that he was a communist. Then one of the Nazi soldier asked Picasso, pointing out the still wet Guernica,
"who done it? You ?"
Then Picasso retorted,
"No, you done it."
Later Guernica turned out to be one of the greatest paintings in par with Mona Lisa .

The great epic Ramayana was also born out of Valmiki"s grieving heart when he shot the male bird. He was moved by the grief of the female bird's grief. And utters a sloka that led to the creation of Ramayana."

The very fact that Piccaso was able to work during such a period tells about his talent and dedication as well...I was not aware of the story of Ramayana since I have not really bothered much aabout it ! I know that it is a great epic but somehow could not relate to it like Mahabharata... :)

Thanks for interesting informations. Tulsi dass wrote RamChritra Manas when his wife insulted him.
There is a proverb- No pains no gains. There are many meanings of \pain'. In a way, hard work- mental or physical involves pain. But you can achieve nothing without such pain. You need to take pains. Also punishment is nothing but pain but this reforms and corrects. Mental agony or pain stimulates creativity. The pangs of separation give best poetry. Some poet remarked best songs are those that tell of saddest (most painful) thoughts.

I agree with that poet who said best songs are those that emerge out spontaneously during the moments of pain. Once a famous poet who rose from penury to riches was asked, "why he is unable to write those quality poetry which he used to write during his poverty days."

The poet replied, " where is that hunger and pain now ?"

I am reminded of a recent film I saw ' Rockstar' which was an average film but the theme was the same.Right at the beginning the hero an spiring rockstar is told by someone that unless he experiences pain he will not be able to give out his best and thats what happens. He experiences personal loss and pain but also becomes very famous...

Every great man has experienced both pain and happiness. If you don't feel pain, you will never realise the value of happiness. Prince living in the palace, can never experience the pain of living in jungle unless he is exiled to jungle for years. When he will come back to palace, he will enjoy his palatial pleasure even more than before.

Actually it should be the other way round for a prince - once he witnesses what common man has to endure and the difficulties faced by them whether in jungle or anywhere he should become more human and forget about all the palatial pleasures since afterall it belongs to everyone...

One day I was watching "Jodha Akbar" where Akbar changed his appearances and entered into the local marker, there he heard conversations of local people who are very worried abt. Jijiya and Tirthyatri tax (religious taxes aimed at Hindu) and from there he realized the pain of common man, though Akbar was illiterate still he knew that is its hurting them and he changed this despite opposition from his couteries. Even a king had to change his dress and stayed in road and live as a common man to experience the pain and sorrows,

Akbar's ruling has been hailed by the historians for his reforms. That's why, he remained in the history as "Akbar the great." No other Mughal emperor has been honoured in such a glowing terms.
