Thanks for creating this heart touching thread. I love my mother tongue Tamil very much. It is the classical language.
I love my mother tongue too..
{CJATTACHMENT ["id": 10303]}
actually Tamil is a confusing language :unsure: :unsure:
That's why I stopped learning it in the middle.
Malayalam has 51 letters, I think so(There is a poem praising Saraswathy) .....5 letters extra than Hindi and we need to constrain it to 36 letters to describe everything :huh: :huh:
It's very difficult :silly: :silly:
But personally I like Tamil, after all my mother's mother tongue is Tamil :cheer: :cheer:
Hindi and English are of course, my favourites ,.....like malayalam.
Malayalam is also Known as Kairali
My Telugu, sweet Telugu is well known as'Italian of the east.'

I can't give you the 100% exact translation. Anyway, I will try to give you a synopsis.
The poem compares Tamil with Honey, Moon, Fragrance...
Tamil is water, food and shelter to our lives. It brightens our knowledge, is a source of light.
It is an inspiring fire, our mother....

If all the members were to be active here, I am sure, we would be sharing a lot of things on important days - like me sharing my birthday with that of Swami Vivekananda.
