Indo-China war was a terrible war. India lost Bhutan and a part of Ladakh valley. India lost the war. The problem is not yet solved.
Excellent and very informative article ! I feel that the war had its positive affect in that India at least began to concentrate on building up its military power and increased its defence budget...

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

The war was unique one. The war was on two fronts- Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh. China advanced in both regions and unilaterally withdrew. Some in India believed that china being a socialist state cannot be aggressor. So, they could not reconcile to china's aggressive role. Also reliance on international treaty like panchsheel proved meaningless. The greatest lesson from war is that eternal vigilance is must for national defence.

Devyani, Bhutan has always been an independent kingdom and was never a part of India, an it still continues to be that..China has not invaded it at any time...It was Tibet which is a neighboring country that was invaded by China ..you can get all the relevant information about the history of Bhutan from this link...

Bhutan is no wherein picture. The Chinese occupation of Tibet was prior to Indo Chinese war. Nehru had supported Chinese claim to Tibet. India regards Tibet as part of china. The 1962 war was regarding some part of Ladakh and NEFA (Arunachal Pradesh).
