Why people did not be happy when girl born in any home? is there any way to remove this difference of happiness.

    but even now in some villages it is thinking so

    It is an irony that centuries of male domination have not freed from this skewed way of viewing the arrival of a girl child in the family and what is worse that some of economically progressive states like Punjab and Haryana such highly deplorable bias is still there.As Mohankrishna says things are changing and let us hope thing do change very fast in this regard.

    The social customs and traditions like prevalence of dowry and fear of 'honor' of girls favor male child. The parents are worried about dowry for their daughters and also constantly fear that the girl's 'honour' remains intact. On the other hand, boy will earn dowry and no need to bother about boy's honour as boys cannot be raped and even if raped, 'honour' is still intact unlike girls.

    The paradox is that girls are worshiped on Durga navami (today is the festival) but are considered everywhere as inferior and they face double standards on aspects of morality and gender discrimination.

    Who told girl birth makes unhappy? Last week a child born to me.It is my third child and all my three are girls.I am happy with what God gives me.There are many in this world who had no child of any sex and are spending lacks of rupees for the same.

    because they wish to add their name in categories of fool ,even though they know that without the girl this universe would not formed.

    Abid- You are in Kerala. The people in North India, particularly, Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Haryana crave for male child and are unhappy with girl child. That is why male- female ration is very much in favor of males. Many get gender test before birth of child and abort if the child yet to be born is girl. The Govt. have banned such tests but still the doctors illegally carry out such tests and abort the female child.
