Here in North, On Saturdays more beggars are seen on foot path and subways. The reason, giving alms on Saturday will be good (Sani ka dan maha kalyan) so the beggars are taking the advantage.

I have the habit of giving some money when I see physically handicapped people (all are coming on this special day, Saturday).

What about you, do you think this will give you any benefits in the form of blessings. :(

Most of them are not beggars but opportunists. Some of them other jobs on week days like rikshaw pulling, selling vegetables etc. But as they know Indians' mentality to fall for such things they come disguised as Sani and make lots of people wash their sin/get their problems away. I never pay to any of them.
I am aware about it, but on physically handicapped people, I am melting easily :P

I hate people use kids to make money, especially making their hands like burned and begging

I am not talking about helpless poor ones but the ones who come as Shanidev. They all are in good health.
Saturday is like any other day and giving alms on this day is no different. Instead of charity, self dependence needs be encouraged.

The government has quota in services for physically handicapped. Private sector should also be required to employ them. The physically handicapped are in fact differently able and not totally unable to do any useful work.
I don't believe on such things from the starting.. I used to give up food (not to all) to old age people and kids. I used to purchase some packing food for the kids, but I saw one time that few of them sell it for the money, so now I give them open packets so they can't sell it....

About blessings , I surely not believe them. But I won't mind it if I am getting it.. he he
I ditto your ideas, you have left nothing to which I can add any thing to any more.

It's really a new piece of knowledge.
Saturday or sunday, if we help someone with our heart, we will get blessings
Can any one tell me what alms means? I never heard of it and what sreekala mean
I do believe in this, but have stopped giving. In Udaipur,i had find various poor people coming to me and asking for the money. Small childrens do come to me and ask for money. But some locals have told me that, you should not give money to childrens, but rather give some food to them. Because, the money which they got, will be steal by their father and father will buy a bottle of Alcohol.
So,its better to give some food incase of money.

But still,if i feel that i should give money,i give it. I am little sensitive.

I too dont know What is almn. Can anyone explain.
Giving money to begger does not mean that you get a blessing from god........So i does not give money to this kind of begger.
Giving money to needy is alright but giving money in the name of Shanidev is funny.

Some times we help the needy for certain essential expenses on medicine, education etc. The needy may be some one earning but being short of resources. Such help is okay but giving alms to beggars is no good. When you help the needy, you need not bother about particular day of week. Moreover, such help is for social purpose and not for getting any personal benefit- divine or otherwise.
I don't believe that giving alms on Saturday is good.It should be our morality to help some needy in everyday.
Ya i agree really who need help and we do is good but now day most of the beggars are fit enough to do some work but they think it is the easy way of earning money .So giving money to those beggars is bad........
Not only on Saturday but giving unworthy people on any day is not good.
Ya because unworthy people are not utilizing the time in proper way...........
