Hi Friend!

All you must have been shocked and shamed by the highly condemnable act of a fellow member who has indulged in blatant copying of a story written by another writer who has rightly condemned through comments on the home page. The title of the story is "The Church Bell...." and now my question is: how could it pass through the scrutiny of the editors of Boddunan???

It appears that the editors do not do their job properly. Otherwise, there would not be so many cases of copycats.

Thanks a lot Gulshan for responding to this issue and giving your free and franks views so conscientiously. I am very disappointed with the silence on the part of most of the members who have viewed this but have chosen to maintain silence on this grave issue. It shows the entire Boddunan Editorial Team in poor light. Those of us who endeavour honestly to make it one of the best sites have a right to know why such a scandalous thing has happened and who is behind this sloppy performance.
I had commented some time back that deduction of points or some other penal action is unavoidable for preventing blatant copy and paste. Some members had opposed this suggestion. I still feel that showing any leniency in this regard or lethargy of editors will leave us nowhere.

You are absolutely right. If we are to depend on some outside source to come to know of copycats and their contribution it reflects very poorly.God knows how many such articles exist in our articlebase. One more thing used to strike me a lot which is the language on the part of some members who contribute articles and the same which they use in forum. If someone's grammar could be that good when he or she writes articles, why it can't be the same when he or she expresses in forum. This glaring anomaly has not put the editors of boddunan on guard.
I agree. Very good point raised by chinmoymukherjee. The standard of language and style of any one in forum and articles can not be very different. So an easy method to detect possible copying is to compare the writing on forum to that in articles. This will give clue for further probe.

Guys.. sorry for the late entry.

The article that you mentioned was deleted yesterday. However I would like to mention few points here.

The original author of this article contacted us about the situation and gave us the URL.

We found that it is on Orkut and it does not allow us to view it unless we logged into it.

Now please tell me how the editors can be blamed for a resource copied which is not available on anywhere.

And another point I have to mention that the copycat(his account deleted and banned permanently) copied that article right after it is posted on orkut an it is not found anywhere.
