No doubt there are more poor in INDIA due to many reasons one of the first reason is employment.And the difference in rich and poor is increasing day by day those who are poor are getting more poor these days due to inflation. :evil:
Why can't prising of common commodities be categorized according to different groups.....(except ration)? by this way, common man gets more benefits
Pricing goods differently according to consumer income is complicated and not feasible generally. But this is done in some respects. Fee concession and scholarships, fair price shops are some methods. Army has C.S.D. canteen for soldiers. many organizations form their own consumer cooperative stores for price advantage.
Rations are given for common commodities. Yes, it's not feasible to expand it. Yet, if attempts are made, some kind of reforms can be done. But what to do, politicians are spending their valuable working hours for stunts in parliament and attending marriage functions....also filling their own pockets :evil:
That is the concern.In olden days there used to be a king who used to exploit people and now the politicians has taken up their place and making full their pockets from the money of ours. :evil:
I remember an incident- two candidates were allotted a fixed sum to find out a few facts and the winner was to be selected for the post. The one who spent lesser and got elected had done nothing but followed and copied the facts collected by the first candidate who made expenses collecting them. The one who won on the basis of lesser expenses proved his point that he can do things using his skills and not merely by laboring around. Therefore, smart worker is better than an ordinary one who can do wonders for an employer. This could be taken for a joke but is not a joke.
What would happen of no body had skill but only smartness as given in the example. such smartness is just cheating that helps only if others are honest.
You only took one aspect of the fact in to consideration, although your point is exactly what I am trying to insert. People with smart ideas are considered happening these days. People with ethics are lower in skills.

This type of politician should be punished very strongly but who will give it as all are corrupted.
Corruption is bad but this cannot be sole cause of poverty. Illiteracy and lack of skill and consequent non utilization of human resources to best advantage of nation cause poverty. There are many in non productive jobs like living on rent, brokerage and interest income, religious preaching and fooling people, Strictly speaking, anything other than manufacture of products and agriculture is unproductive and cause poverty.
We need have more agriculture and industry workers, soldiers and less middlemen, religious preachers, priests, lawyers. Even the need for doctors should decrease by better anti pollution and food habits. More skill, more direct workers will bring prosperity. There must be stress on skill. We shall employ to the extent we need and rest will work abroad and send foreign income to families.
My view is that a holistic view of things has to be taken in tackling this grave problem.For the last six decades all the political parties seized this highly popular issue with an eye to make electoral gains but the ground reality remains almost the same! Corruption is at the heart of it!!
Budgetary allocations are made every year and various poverty alleviation schemes are framed naming them after leaders but how much of them actually percolate to the poor, that's a million dollar question!
