Always be gentle to a dog, dog tend to take revenge if we misbehave with it. When on leash, just try to be friends for one week, later on it will not even bark at you but give out small yelps of joy or wag its tail
if it is growling at you, just throw some bone at it or even some biscuits.
Let it not make a habit, just to overcome the fear
