In some part of Maharastra peoples are getting little water, once in for days to drink and for other purpose. But Mharashtra governement have enough water fro IPL show (Tamasha) I read that 20 match will played in Maharashtra. Each match required 3 lac litter water. Total 60 lacs litter water. I think it enough to satisfied thrust of some million peoples for some days. It is not humane.

I am sure ur corrupt Chief Minister will be more tan happy to have this diversion , since he is reeling under too many scams and corrupt charges right from his crore plus watch case to his latest favoring his son to open a lab in government lab wit govt paid facilities..I doubt if he is interested in the plight of the farmers with Karnataka having one of the highest number of suicide rates and now a drought situation ..
Who cares about some farmers when there is a lot of money to be earned from cheap entertainment? All these agitations of various progressive outfits that is going on all over Maharasthtra to earn women rights to enter temples and mosques etc. seem to be pointless and useless. Those outfits should in reality be agitating for IPL matches to be banned from the country instead, that will serve more purpose and will bring some relief to poor farmers and widows of those who committed suicides/
Yes Kalyani, that's exactly what it is.. However, here the activists and farmers are already getting together wondering how to stop the match that is supposed to be played either today or tomorrow, am not sure but sometime soon..
Maybe they should think of trying something like this, bring all their livestock in hundreds and invade the pitch :)
I wonder why they have to select the worst time of the year when there is water shortage, instead cant they have the matches son after the rain or during winter since it is pleasant in the south and central India, where normally the matches are played.

Spread the word around, bring them in hundreds and stop the matches!

Already agitations started. But as usual agitators are either stopped or arrested, But the courts where the PILs are lying yet to take action. In the mean time matches are taking place one after another. Courts should a quick action.

I sincerely wish something like that would happen, but people give up easily on issues that really matter but waste precious time on the ones that don't really matter .
Sadly, IPL is continuing. But, Protests too are continuing. BCCI is conducting the Matches in other venues where there is no water scarcity. BCCI has collected large sums from the Franchisees. In this scenario BCCI will be charged with breach of agreement, if Matches are cancelled. So, it's not that easy to stop IPL matches. On another side , there are no protests or agitations from the public but a couple of PILs, which are lying in the cold storage. With all said and done, its proved beyond doubt that Cricket is the favorite game in the country.
- Playing IPL in a drought stricken state is an insensitive act and it should be stopped but why we should complain only against the cricket tournament. What about the ministers who are public servants? They are wasting water for temporary helipad just for their convenience and giving damn towards the need of the public.
Karnataka has never had a situation as bad it is now, with KSR dam that supplies water to both Bangalore and Mysore, almost dry. But does our Chief Minister care ? He laughs and sways when asked about IPL and water troubles. No wonder he was booed out of a village when he went there to do drought 'survey' after several people had died with no water that was promised being supplied by the Tahshildar. Pathetic inddeed but IPL must go n because the entire political lot gets part of the loot..

True...see the current agitations of various women's and progressive outfits demanding that women be allowed entry into temples and mosques etc. See how much response and they are getting from everywhere, but something more crucial and sensitive issue that requires topmost priority such as water and food etc., no one seems to be bothering much about.....that is why our country can never become a superpower!
We are aware that venues for IPL were shifted, after Maharashtra CM refused to hold the IPL championship. After this, many States came forward to hold IPL. BCCI agreed for some venues in AP, Vizag, where there is no water scarcity to hold IPL. But within a few days the situation changed. IMD predicted, that there would be severe water scarcity in the entire country. With this new development many agitations were staged. There were a couple of PILs filed in the AP High court. But IPL is continuing. Now , according to news channels, there is political interference to gain political mileage. Rumors are afloat that lot of money transactions took place between the politicians and the Franchisees of IPL.

Yes I agree Kalyani, we need to see what our priorities are ...I find the media taking up issues that are quite silly at times. The suicide case by a TV actress was prime time news for several days and still not done with...why not let the people involved have some dignity and privacy ? Thankfully they have been covering the drought situation too or else we would never come to now what is happening around the country..
Basically, an Indian Voter overlooks his or her priorities and goes by sensational news available in both Print and Electronic media. I'm sure, this malady in an Indian Voter is due lack of awareness about his value of Adult Franchise. Thankfully a few of the News channels are giving a wide exposure to the Drought conditions and water scarcity. Because of these facts, a few individuals are protesting against Water wasting projects like IPL cricket matches. Maharashtra Government's denial to allow IPL matches is an example.

Farmers must continue agitation. Here too people are protesting against IPL matches. Now the entire country is facing water scarcity. Everywhere drought conditions are prevailing.
