The state of jammu & kashmir was meged in India according to an international treaty- between India and Maharaja of Jammu & Kashmir. The treaty requires special status for the state. Incidentally, Hon Kong- a part of China- has also similar status. That is called one nation two systems.

Apart from new stand on article 370, BJP also is looking for alliance with PDP- a Kashmir based political parrty.

Now both so called main stream parties have lost ground in Uttar Pradesh so that only Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajvadi party are relevant.

They have asked for discussions on this article, as one has to diagnosis whether this article is giving prudent benefit to JK or not, it is the only state where if girls marry outside state will lose rights of property. There may be negatives abt. it, the mere what the govt. of the day saying by simple discussion on it is going to hurt JK is point not approved by many. If it is giving riche benefits then continue with it, what abt, the other way round, time to ponder upon.

Whatever BJP may say today, the fact of the matter is that our previous governments , mainly Congress has been lax while dealing with the Kashmir issue exactly like they are now dealing with the Pakistan issue.They care about all opinions exceot what is right for the nation. The Kashmir insurgency started in the eighties and they have been sitting on it talking about peace while thousands have been killed...One can blame them for what the situation is now and article 370 itself is unclear in many ways...

Article 370 is permanent and defines relation between India and J & K that was merged by a treaty. The article can be amended or removed only with consent of J & K assembly and not otherwise. Even parliament cannot unilaterally remove this article. There have been several reactions from Kashmir leaders.
