Not only Agra but Ghaziabad, Meerut, Allahabad, Varanasi etc in UP and 38 in total in India will have to install a set top box from tonight 12 onwards. I have tata sky for almost 5 years so no worries for me.

This is already implemented in Delhi around 7~8 months back and I remember we did not watch TV for 2 days.
Is it about set top box which is required. If so it is a big problem and many people may have no option.

Yes, the set top box has been made compulsory and that's why they will not be able to watch TV. I think it will give the viewers good quality and reception.

Right now, I'm watching my TV. There is no set box for me. In my state Hyderabad and Vizag, where I live, were taken for this Pilot project. There was much hue and cry. Nothing happened. I'm seeing my TV in Analog mode.

My brother watches TV but he is away. I spend more time on computer and less on TV. But I checked and found that TV is not working in absence of set box. when my brother comes back, wed shall consider the option of set top box or tata sky.

Anyhow, according to the latest news, Centre has reportedly decided to digitise the channels one after the other, offering enough time to viewers to switch over to digital signals.

Hey, how's that possible? May be they forgot to switch off the analog mode? But was your place supposed to be cut off from analog in case you don't have set top box?

That was a foolish decision taken by the government in haste. Now they realized. Please read my response to Gulshan ji. That's the latest position of set top box/s affair in the country.
