Is Bhagwat Geeta an instigator of violence, disputes and social unrest in society. Hindus may read some deeper meaning in the holy book.

But others may consider this just as a story of fight over land between cousins, namely Pandava and kaurava. Oterwise peaceful citizens may be instigated by this book to settle their differences on land and other private maters through violence. This is what a section in Siberia (Russian territory) feels. So, a ban on this book is being considered.

Just narrow interpretation is possible, it all depends on individual perception and perspective. The history of using ban as an instrument of suppression has proved counter-productive!
Bhagwat Geeta is not only an instigator of violence, disputes and social unrest in society it has many lessons to learn.I think after reading the whole book one may be changed as a perfect man.

As per the latest information Russian government has condemned it and it's a mad act of a subordinate court. All we can rest assured whether this is considered as sacred document or not, this one is an invaluable heritage of human civilization, it has survived and it would survive against all odds!
bhagwat geeta is a very holy book for the hindu this news really heart us.
All the holy books are good. There is no need to ban any of them.It will make it more popular

All are not likely to give that type of importance to Geeta as Hindus or may be other Indians may. We should not be very sensitive to such issues. Ironically, some sections view that there is a tendency to defame Hindus. Sushma Swraj has said that Geeta should be declared our national book so that nobody may oppose this. This is obviously ridiculous. Then, if other religious books like mahabharata or Ramayana are banned, these may also have to be declared as national book

Personally, I think that no book should be banned unless this is obscene or generates hatred among communities.

There would be always people to whip up sentiments on any issue! It's a small act of a very subordinate Siberian Court and Russian government as such had no role to play!
It is possible that the some of the verses might have been misinterpreted in the Russian version, there should be a study of that and also the probable reasons of what led to the ban. In any case, no book should ever be banned unless it contains material of obscene nature and hatred between communities.

Also I agree with Chinmoy, banning of Bhagwat Geeta by one government is not going to have any effect on its popularity, neither is it going to make any difference to Indians!

It's a monumental work with eternal appeal embracing all aspects of our life and it needs no advocate for its survival!
