K.R. Gowri Thomas, Ex C.M.aged 92 years is the oldest candidate. Once, She was top C.P.I.(M) leader and was C.M. in that capacity. Her husband Thomas was in C.P.I. Her party directed her to live separate from her husband. she lived separately from her husband for the sake of party discipline. Now, she is contesting election with congress support.

    She has been expelled from CPI(M) years ago and was with Congress alliance in last few elections.

    she is still in congress alliance. The main point is that she is very old and even then she is active. Also, it is worth mention that she was required to separate from her husband who was in C.P.I. No other party will require a woman to live separate from her husband nor would any other woman in some other party accept intervention in her family life.

    This was unfortunate. There is no room in C.P.I. (M) for any dissent. If you do not adhere to party line, they will expel.
