The term secular is misunderstood by many otherwise well educated persons. Secularism means keeping religion out of administration and also treating all religions equally. What is wrong with these. Pakistan is a nonsecular state as are many Islamic nations. Has it prevented them from falling  prey to terrorists and fundamentalist forces. How will having a uniform civil law help face outside threats is not clear. If Hindus are having two children it is because they are better educated and understand that it is quality and not quantity that is important. Muslims as they get educated also have lesser children than before. India is already having second largest Muslim population and it is possible it may have the largest population in a few years time. The way to meet threat of ISIS is by standing united and being vigilant and not by constantly spreading hatred between religions and dividing the nation. Such persons seem to lack self confidence.

Exactly.. the spread of ISIS can be stopped only by keeping a constant vigilance.

ISIS is a big threat to mankind, not only India, all countries who want piece on earth should unite and take strong steps to stop ISIS.

Countering ISI and other Extremist Islamic policy is not easy. The uSA, UK and France are developed countries and yet are unable to stop their boys and girls  from running away and joining the Jihadis. Only yesterday I saw on local TV that hundreds of  school girls from UK want to go and join the jihad movement in Syria. In contrast ISI has no influence in Dubai and UAE. Very soon india will have the largest Muslim population in world and its a frightening thought if even a fraction of them get influenced and join various Jihadi groups.  The Islamic Students movement  ( Indian Mujahideen ) is already active in India. Its achome grown movement.

Talking of Pakistan as non-secular country and constantly Pak bashing is not correct. The Pak constitution preamble and article 20 gives full rights and protection to minorities. i traveled the length and breadth of Pakistan and visited all the SIKh holy shrines in pak. The Shrines and Sikhs are well kept and allowed full rights.  Some aberrations can take place after all India is a secular country yet thousands of Sikhs and Muslims were  killed and murdered  in  riots in Delhi ( 1984) and Gujarat ( 1998) and UP.

Pakistan is an Islamic state and as far as being secular just maintaining temples and gurudwaras is not enough..minorities esp Hindus have very little freedom and there is hardly any representation in the government .I have some friends , Sindhis who have been  living in Lahore for generations and they are not at all happy and it is the case with score sof other Hindus living there unlike Muslims here ..

Pay no mind to those who talk behind your back, it simply means that you are two steps ahead !!!

The percentage of Hindus has fallen to around 1.5% or so from a much higher figure at time of partition in Pakistan. It is clear that Pakistan is not a functioning secular state. Recently there was a news item that Hindu marriages are not recognised in Pakistan and a Bill to do so is likely to be introduced in their Senate. Do we like it? Not at all. But at the same rime we bemoan the fact that minorities have equal rights in India and attribute many ills to our secularism. It calls fora very broad mind and big heart to follow secularism. Thank God that a majorityof Indians have it. It will help us fight Islamic threats much more unitedly. In Kashmir almost everytime it is local muslims who have led Indian troops to intruding Pakistani troops or terrorists during 1965 and 1971 wars and 1999 kargil war. So let us not be narrow minded.
