Only, we the citizen of India can eradicate the corruption to a large extent or even completely( in ideal condition). Like the ad of Tata Tea'Jaago Re' we should stop giving bribe even for small matter though at times it is not possible practically, but still we should inculcate the habit of not giving bribe will reduce the corruption to certain extent. By electing good leaders from our constituency and educating general public about corruptions are the other measures to stop corruption from our country.
I don't know why people at such high level go for such illegal ways of earning, since they are already availing all the facilities. Nobody will take the money with them after death nor their family members can use it as they have to hide those money everytime.
Rather if those money are utilised in better ways then they themselves will get benefited from it. For example,a luxury house if situated in a remote area with no infrastructure facility will have no use. Because for every basic amenities one has to go far places to avail those facilities.

The most alarming issue is corruption. How to remove this is million dollar question. We have to first go through causes and historic background as well as experience in other countries. Corruption can be uprooted by removing the causes that encourage people to indulge in this.
Corruption is universal and dates back to ancient times. We find mention of 'bribe' even in Kautilya's arthashastra. This was called 'utkoch'. Kautilya gave many suggestions for preventing corruption.
Man is selfish by nature. He has also the power to transfer wealth to his sons and daughters by will and to inherit from forefathers. The instinct for serving own and family's financial interests provides motive for corrupt practices.
Man is a social animal but individualism and family orientation guide him more. Hence, an individual attempts to serve his own and his family's narrow interests little bothering about nation and society as a whole.
Thus selfishness, family orientation and individualism are the causes behind corruption. We need to bring about spirit of nationalism, patriotism and social consciousness. Social consciousness and patriotism must replace individualism and narrow family orientation. There is an old Sanskrit shloka that says- One should forgo self for family, family for village and village for nation. But now, people are always ready to forgo everything for self and family.
Do the people favor corruption. There are double standards. Everyone wants honesty and fair practice. But with an exception. All should be honest except him and his family. even a dishonest tax evader wants honest employee. This double standard is also responsible for corruption. Here I am reminded of a story. Once there was famine. The king was advised that if the pool is filled with milk, the sky will be covered with rain clouds. The king ordered that everyone should pour one glass of milk in the pool. But no body wanted to waste his personal milk by pouring in the pool. everyone hoped that the pool will be filled with milk. Everyone though that others would pour a glass of milk and hence he could pour only water. Thus next day, the pool was filled with water only. The same is about honest today. Everyone expects that others will be honest and so he may afford to be dishonest. The result is that entire nation is seriously diseased with menace of corruption.
How to remove the corruption. It is misunderstood that religion and saints can play any part. Personal greed is the cause of corruption. Religion does not curb greed. Rather people are 'bribed' by the saints and religion with promise of 'apsaras', 'hoors', 'somras' all good things and luxury in the afterlife. Who will wait for afterlife pleasure. why not enjoy this life itself.
It is necessary to impart good moral education clearly explaining the structure of society and the need for honest behavior. It should be clear beyond doubt that corruption does nobody good. One may gain by getting bribe or undue benefit but he has also to pay bribe to others. One may sell theater tickets in black but then he will also have to buy railway ticket in black. Corruption is a double edged sword.
Besides best education and moral orientation, there will always be some who will not mend their way. The penal system must be harsh on corruption. The punishment for corruption must be harshest. This is more heinous than murder and rape. Like China, there should be death penalty for corruption.

It is true that corruption like any thing else begins with thought. But why such thought comes. The reason is selfishness, individualism and family orientation. These need be replaced with patriotic feelings and nationalism. A truly patriotic person will not bribe. Strict punishment is also necessary for corrupt act. Presently, corruption is at a big level and almost everyone is involved. So, there is need for a big political, social and cultural movement to change people's mind set.

This is better said than done. The Government consists of corrupt ministers and bureaucrats. How and against whom they can be strict. The corrupt have power and authority. Corruption is way of life. who will punish whom?
Individualism and blind family love is cause of corruption. Replace individualism and family love with nationalism or patriotism. This needs a change in mindset that needs total cultural revolutionary campaign. As short term measure, strict disciplinary action is also needed. There should be death penalty for corruption.

I accept to the view of Gulshan they should be hanged to death. And also i like to suggest a few points. The candidate or a minister should not in power more than twice in his entire life or in his politics carrier and there should be a age limit less than 40 years and they should have got a minimum of degree of qualification and the medium should have been English. I am not telling that they should have studied only in English it is enough if they are able to communicate in English.
Corruption is nothing but a tipical mindset of some people who are eager to get rich quickly . This evil can only be eradicated if we can changethe mindset of these pople . Our law and other governmental machineries have to be very strong ad keep a vigil on these people who are polluting the country's environment with mixing corrution in our system .
The corrupted people should be punished havily to give a lesson to those who are thinking of doing corruption.
Above all we the people should report to the police any single incident of corruption we encounter with . Then only corruption can be erdicated.

Even police are corrupted, infact they are one of the most corrupted people in our country.Police are nothing but terrorist covered with legal weapon to conduct crime freely without any fear.Corruption is like a spider's web, where everybody is interlinked with one another. One has to kill the spider(corruption) to stop it from spreading. The question is how?

The problem is that corruption is deep rooted and it is difficult to fight the menace only with law. The suggestion that ministers should not be in power more than twice is apt. I may add that there should be rotation of portfolios. The ministers as well as bureaucrats should change their portfolio every six months or one year. There are some portfolio more attractive for unlawful money. No body should hold such portfolio for long period.
As regards qualification, it is better that the ministers get good skill in English language but do not understand how this can reduce corruption. I request for elucidation on this point.

It's true that almost everybody is corrupted starting from the bottom to top level. But, among then few, a very little in number who are not corrupted and they are running the country and taking it to make a developed country. Though their number is very small but they really exist and because of them we are surviving, otherwise if everybody is corrupted then the country will be destroyed within a short span of time. Fighting evil over good is difficult but not impossible. Only the quantity of the good or non corrupted people need to be increased. If we elect good fresh leaders who can lead the country in a proper way without any personal benefits, I think this can be the foundation to curb corruption.

It is not right to say that the country is running due to the negligible number of honest. In spite of corruption, we have advanced in all fields. In fact, the corrupt work more and day and night whereas the dead honest are satisfied with small salary and will not work more. Corruption has the merit of speeding up the administrative machinery. This does not harm all. If all were harmed, corruption would have ended long ago. Corruption favors the rich who afford bribe and harms the poor and principled. One who can and is ready to bribe always gets done what he wants. Food and drug adulteration play with health of people and need be dealt with first.
It is the poor and the few honest who suffer most. It is they who should struggle and launch strong movement against corruption.

I accept to the view of Gulshan they should be hanged to death. The introduction of the death penalty for corruption and nepotism, is the only guaranteed effective way, to end the culture of corruption among western politicians. The death penalty could be applied, for instance, in cases where an elected representative claimed more than € 1000 from the state, in any one year.
Widespread application of the death penalty, with such low thresholds, would ultimately disable the political parties, and end recruitment to the political class.
In that way, it would remove two primary sources of corruption.

The recent scandal in the United Kingdom is a reminder, that corrupt politicians are not found only in developing countries.
Corruption, self-enrichment, and nepotism are part of the political culture in western democracies - so much so, that they form a major argument against democracy itself.
Hence,Corruption i believe do no biasing for rich & poor
