In this article we are going to learn about the motion. Human beings, animals, worms, insects etc move from one place to another, vehicles move in different manner. Planets move around the sun. The motion is nothing but the movement of objects or things from one place to another is called "Motion".
There are four types of motion:
1.) Translatory motion
2.) Rotatory motion
3.) Oscillatory motion
4.) Vibratory motion
1.) Translatory motion: Motion of a man walking, motion of cycle, bus and car is in translatory motion. This translatory motion is also called as Linear motion. The position of an object is changing along the straight line with respect to a fixed point or object, then the motion of the object is called Translatory motion.
2.) Rotatory motion: If the motion of points of an object are along a circular path instead of a straight line, then the motion of the body is called Rotatory motion. We can say some examples for this are fan, hand clock, tyres etc. All the given examples will come under rotatory motion.
3.) Oscillatory motion: This is first observed by Galileo. He observed this in a church when a lamp is hanging in the church it is moving in to and fro movement with a fixed point and it is repeated for some time only. Based on this he invented Pendulum clock. We can observe the motion of pendulum clock. It has a object which moves from one place to another on both the sides of a fixed point. The to and fro motion of an object about a fixed point is called Oscillatory motion.
4.) Vibratory motion: If a particle moves to and from a fixed point or central point in a straight line, then that motion is called vibratory motion. Musical instruments like Veena, Sitar and Guitar have strings in them. If strings are made to vibrate they produce musical sounds. Which we can observe insects like honeybees fly with buzzing sound is produced due to vibrations this is also of Vibratory motion.
