Friends, so one more new year in our lives to celebrate. How are you going to celebrate this time? You surely would throw a grand party for your friends and relatives. You cut some cake, arrange some fireworks and merry making, that’s how we all welcome the new year. But how will you remember the day of new year! I am going to make some resolutions for the whole year. Are you willing to join me? So make these your resolutions too.
KEEP SMILING - When you cry the world does not cry with you, but when you smile the whole world smiles with you. So smile at the silly mistakes you do, smile at the mistakes others do. Smile and try to make others smile. Smile is infectious. If you make yourself smile, it will eventually spread and the whole world will smile. Forget what you have lost, your tiny little stroke of smile can bring back more than what you have lost.
HELP THE NEEDY – There are numerous people on the earth who need your help. Stretch your hand towards them. For whom no day is special, for whom no day comes with happiness. Try to make a day special at least for one poor. If this spreads everybody in this world will be happy someday.
EDUCATE THE POOR CHILDREN - Though the government have made schemes and different opportunities are being given to attract the people living below poverty line to make their children study, still these people are engaging their children in work for money. So if you meet any try to convince them to send their children to school. Make them understand the benefit of education and the opportunities the government is giving to educate them.
PROTEST CORRUPTION - Have you seen someone bribing? Do you know some organisation or office where illegal activities are going on? I will surely protest and report to the law. Won’t you? If you will help to make the antisocial fear the law only then we can eradicate crime. This can only be done if we will protest against any unsocial work we see.
QUIT BAD HABITS - I drink a lot of tea. I am going to make it two times a day this time. What will you leave? Smoking ! It’s very dangerous for health. No need to say as we all know smoking and alcohols are really bad for us as these invite many diseases which are incurable or very difficult to cure. So make this a new year resolution to keep these things at a distance.
WATCH YOUR HEALTH - It is said that health is wealth. Make a schedule for the whole. In the morning give yourself some time to yoga, meditation and exercises. This will give you inner strength and confidence to face the challenges in home and office through out the day. Meditation boosts up the confidence level within you. Sometimes listen to the music. good music gives peace of mind and enhances your energy level. Watch your food. Eat less fatty foods. Intake of fruits and salads will enable you to work without gettng tired.
There are many more things that I am going to change from this year. You too start finding what you can change in your life. But make sure these resolutions are healthy for you, your family, and above all your country.
Anita, her brother Ganesh and their parents were going to visit their uncle and aunt who lived in a small village. Anita was very excited. She had never been to a village before.
Anita- I am very excited about going to a village. What is it like, mother?
Mother- Oh, it is very beautiful. You will enjoy playing in the fields with your cousins.
Ganesh- Does uncle and Aunt go to office like father and you?
Mother- no, they work on the farm. They grow sugarcane and rice. They have many cows and buffalos.
Ganesh- how will we reach the farm? Are there autos and jeeps to take us there?
Father- no, there are buses. May be your uncle will bring his tractor. Then we can ride on it to the village.
Anita- Are there big houses in village?
Mother- of course, there are small houses and cottages in the village. Some of them are big with tiled roofs. Others are smaller with attached roofs. There is a wall and two big neem trees behind uncle’s house. When we were young, we used to sit under the trees at night. Grandfather would tell us stories. The people of the village gather to listen to the stories. Sometimes when it was very hot, we would sleep under the trees. They smelled so good and it felt so cool.
Father- children, the train is about to stop at our station. Let’s pick up the bags and move towards the exit. The train will stop here for only two minutes.
The family gets off at the station.
Uncle: welcome to you. Would the children like to ride home on the tractor?
Anita- yes, we would! What fun!
Ganesh- will the tractor take us through the fields, uncle?
Uncle- no, it might spoil the crops. However, you can see the fields from the road as we drive.
Kiran and the post man in the town.
Kiran gets bored doing the same work every day. What does he do?
Kiran did the same work everyday. He sorted out letters, covers and parcels. Then he put them into three hundred letter boxes. He went to the same houses every day. He met the same people. You see, Kiran was a postman.
People liked Krishna. He did his work very well. All the people he went to were his friends. There was Johan, who loved to climbing trees, and David, who had a kitten called Jojo. Ganesh was Kiran’s friend too. He would run out to talk to kiran whenever he heard his bicycle bell.
One day Kiran said to him, `oh, I am so bored! I feel like going on a holiday.’
He thought he would go and visit his brother, Ram, who lived in a village.
Ganesh took Kiran to the bus-stop on his bicycle.
The bus raced down the road. Kiran looked at the letter boxes on the way.
`I won’t even think of work on my holiday,’ he thought.
The bus took about eight hours to reach the village. Kiran reached Ram’s house in the evening. Ram and his family came running out of the house to meet kiran. They were very happy to see him. Kiran played with Kavita and Meena, Ram’s children. He also helped Ram in the fields.
After a few days, Kiran started missing his work. He also missed the people he used to meet everyday. One day, he went for a walk with Ram.
They walked past the village post office. Kiran remembered his post office and felt sad. He wanted to go back home.
When he talked to Ram about it, Ram said, `Instead of going back, why don’t you write letter to your friends?’
Kiran liked Ram’s idea. He went to the post office. He was happy with the smell of stamps, envelopes and glue.
Kiran bought some postcards. That evening, he did not go out for a walk. He wrote letters. He wrote to Johan, David and Ganesh.
He also wrote to his friends, Ramesh, Suresh, Savita, and Kavita.
Then Kiran posted the letters. He felt happy.
`They will be so glad to hear from me! I will wait for their letters. I am sure some of them will write back,’ Kiran told Ram with a big smile.
DANCE OF THE DESTINY
There was a huge rush in the vicinity of the thoroughfare. When our driver parked our car near it everybody seemed rushing like wind. My sister asked me to wait for a while and In the meantime she would have her eyebrows done at a nearby beauty parlour. She said, “Just ten minutes. Keep watching the watch.”I said smiling, “ O.K. But don’t see the scissors or fear the forks when your eyebrows are being trimmed.”But she won when she finally shouted and went off pushing the back door of our Palio, “WOW, A BRO’S ADVICE FOR MY BROWS.”
I wondered whether anybody on that occasion was not busy except me. When I was scanning the entire scene of the thoroughfare, my eyes met with the view of a beggar boy who was trying hard to extract something from an elite looking person who was clad in a safari suite and black shining shoes. I couldn't hear what did the boy say and what the gentleman replied but after sometime the man started his Honda City and went off. The rich looking person turned out to be a poor one at the heart. In the distance a marriage procession was coming. The members of the procession danced to the tune of the trumpet. Some of them were simply jumping, some tried to push others while others surrounded the bride. The entire procession had a rhythm. It seemed as if a big python surged to the tune of the music.,
The beggar boy's attention was taken away by the music. I saw his legs jiving. I never had an idea that an empty stomach could dance too. His hands might not have performed their duty to earn food but legs would be party to fun. And what a dance it was! The boys legs went from one side to the other as smoothly as would dodge me to think he was slipping on ice. Whenever the note of the music changed he would jump and cross his legs and now he would dance with crossed legs. Though the procession was still at a distance but ecstasy in his eyes knew no bounds, the notes of music floated in air and vibrated our ear drums. He leaned forth and back and jumped in a loop at intervals. I had seen dance reality shows like YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE where dancers trained by choreographers would set the stage on fire but this dance was quite untrained, uncut, unedited and natural. This was the dance of hunger. This was the dance of destiny. Cruel destiny.
I had heard politicians orate, “Hungry stomachs don't read, don't sleep, don't enjoy.” But lo! I was watching a hungry beggar dance and that too dance so spontaneously. Not a note missed, not a tune passed without being infused in the steps of the dance. Every part of his body quivered as if it were one of the seven notes of music. They vibrated like the chords of a guitar do when a maestro plays on it1.
But I could easily feel that the little beggar was quite out of tune with his destiny. He danced one way and his destiny, the other way.
I held a pity fot the beggar boy deep inside my heart. And more so because the elite man hadn't given him a single pie. The boy was very near my car. I slid down the window glass and screamed, “Hey you listen, take this coin.” But the boy had no time to listen to me. Procession was approaching nearer and his rhythm and joy were accelerating every single moment. The members of the procession danced, frolicked ans sang and shouted as the procession made its way through the highway. I saw one member slapping the beggar boy and pushing him aside. The little boy fell down but again got up and continued dancing with the same inertia.
I was awe struck. I again screamed and stretched my hand outside to give him the coin but he did not hear my words as they got lost in the hue and cry of the procession. Meanwhile my sister had slipped inside and ordered the driver to start. The car started with a jerk and we raced past the beggar. Our car moved away. In the distance, the marriage procession was gradually disappearing from the sight. The sun was preparing to set. The reddish lights of the dusk had turned the distant figures into mere shadows. When I looked back from the rear glass of my car, the shadow of a little, poor beggar boy appeared dancing, though with stooping legs.
Anger is one of the human emotions which is considered to the destructor of human peace . But As we all know it is present in almost all human beings . Actually you can say it is rather an outcome of emotion inspired from surroundings , unwanted happening or activities of people we don’t like .
So the reasons of anger can be sorted as
- One gets angry when people around him/her do not act accordingly.
- Failure prompts one to get angry over the cause of failure.
- Unnecessary arguments leads to anger .
- Jealousy often is the root of anger.
- Heavy mental or physical pressure results in fuelling the anger element present in every human being.
- The fear of loosing any thing special in some one’s life leads to anger .
- Over ambition results in often failure then anger.
These are the possible causes of anger . If you relate these to your lives you can find similarities. Now as we know the reasons of anger let us discuss the types of anger and how to eradicate this evil from our lives.
ANGER BETWEEN HUSBAND AND WIFE - This is the main reason why there is increasing number of divorces in the whole world . A little amount of fight can be called natural but when it turns in to anger that grows silently between husband and wife it becomes the cause of family disintegration and divorce .
CURE—The cure is very simple . Don’t let this anger affect your life so much that you have to get separated. Search the cause of anger . Why often fights are happening between you and your spouse . Kill the cause with discussion and try to understand your spouse’s problems. Love , affection and continuous effort to solve each small and tiny problem from the beginning can eradicate anger between the husband and wife.
ANGER BETWEEN CHILDREN - This seems to be a very small problem but it often leads to great heartedness and anger in future between the two child of a same parent . Avoid showing more sympathy and love to the child who is intelligent and who studies well . This will foster anger within the other one which will only grow with time .
CURE -- So treat your children equally . Just teaching the lesson of love and care is not sufficient as children like to imitate things . Try to create in your home an environment which is free from anger .
ANGER IN OFFICE - Anger in office is a common phenomenon . Whether it can be the boss who gets angry over the worker or it can be the staff who is angry over the boss . With time this anger grows , tolerance level goes down and crimes happen.
CURE -- I can just suggest one thing here that the people who are in supreme authority should behave with their subordinates properly. It costs nothing for few words of love . But bad behaviour is becoming the prime cause of crime through out the whole world . As well If the subordinates will be more duty bound than this will only help them to avoid unnecessary anger and hate redness in the office environment.
ANGER BETWEEN THE NEIGHBOURS - This main cause can be jealousness . If one neighbour is prospers and successful other get jealous which results in anger over the previous . This type of anger leads social disorganisation .
CURE - The only cure is self suggestion . If you are jealous of your neighbour than ask yourself in what way you are better than him . Nobody in this world is fully happy . Everyone has got problems . Your neighbour too has got hassles in his life . Mix up with him . Share your feelings . Invite him in occasions . You will feel the anger vanishing from your mind.
ANGER PRESENT IN ANTISOCIALS -- This is the main cause of crime in the world . The anger present in antisocial often leads to mass destruction. Nobody is an antisocial by birth . The behaviour and mental setup of the society often makes a person an antisocial .
CURE - The only possible way to cure the anger in antisocial is the love of family and society. From the beginning it’s the role of family to educate that much a child that he can control anger and give priority to love . Then it’s all our duty to treat every single human being with sympathy and humanity so that anger can’t even get a single inch to seat in someone’s mind .
There are thousand causes and types of anger which is not possible to write down in these pages . But I have cited only the main causes , reasons and cure . Lastly Yoga, meditation , music , flowers are some element which only spread the message of peace , love and happiness . Use them in your life .
