Voilence against women

Voilence against women

It is indeed a healthy sign that women all over the world are waking up to their rightful place in the society.
But much is still to be achieved. For example, voilence against women is still practised almost in all male-dominated
societies of the world. This aspect is deplorable in our country. Daily we read  in newspapers how some wild
people burn the brides for the sake of dowry, while some beat their wives under the effect of liquor on filmsy
grounds. Life, in fact, is a great burden for our women. They toil from morning to evening like bonded labourers.
When they are beaten on unreasonable grounds, the conscience of males is not pricked. No one treats them
like human beings. The killing of female foetuses has been increasing.
It is amazing that even after sixty years of independence, we come across cases of dowry deaths, killing of
female foetuses, withdrawing of girl-students from schools and gender discrimination. The newspapers are
full of such news. It is really terrifying that the sex ratio has been steadly declining in our country. on as
average there are 892 females against 1000 males.
Women are discriminated against everywhere, though our Constitution guarantees equality in every walk of
life. There are instances when women are paid less for the same work for which men are paid more and such
things are never reported. Not only that, women are glamorized in advertisements. But underneath they are
treated on an inhuman level.
It is now the time that men must recognize the fact that women are no less than them in any way. There
should not be any discrimination against them. We need to restore them their appropriate status as it was in
ancient India.

Four basic needs – happiness

No comments on “Four basic needs – happiness”

With affection comes security and with success comes joy. Human life revolves around these four pillars of complete happiness.

The four basic pillars of happiness are-

  1. Affection from the loved ones,
  2. Happiness by receiving such affection and also to other factors.
  3. Security by the affection and happiness from all near and dear ones.
  4. Success due to the security, affection and happiness that goes into doing the work well.

When these basic needs are fulfilled, human beings feel happiness engulfing them. But, if they are denied there is every danger of man behaving in a strange manner. In modern time, our physical needs are looked after in an efficient manner. Our mental needs are satisfied by learning and education. But, when it comes to our emotional needs, a great part is played by those who are close to us. We depend on our family and all our near and dear ones for the fulfillment of this need.

Ram was a high school student. Like other boys and girls of his age, he wanted to earn appreciation from everybody around. He was a good football player and was chosen for the school team. He practised very hard. He playedvery well on the field. His schoolmates cheered him when he shot the winning goal. He was very happy because the principal praised him in front of the entire school.

All the school children congratulated him for his success. They liked him because he had brought laurels to the school . from them he received affection. He played the match well, so he was called on the stage for the best player trophy. Thus he got success. He experienced happiness after winning the match and being successful in it. Everybody praised him in school. He got a sense of security. He felt wanted.

Mohan won a medal in the chess tournment. When he came home, to his utter dismay he found that his parents had gone out for a party. He was alone at home. He did not have anybody to share his happiness. He felt neglected. He waited for his parents for a long time and then quietly weeping he went off to sleep. Mohan’s need for love and affection from his parents was not fulfilled. Thus his hapiness was affected. He became sad. If after winning the medal his parents would have been with him, his need for affection would have been appeased and his happiness would have grown manifolds.

traffic

Now-a-days we are facing a whole lot of problems like pollution, power failure, shortage of water and corruption in our day to day life and they have become a part and parcel or our life and we somehow manage to live with them with the hope that someday we might be able to come across these problems. But to be precise, these problems are increasing day by day no matter how hard we, our government and the concerned authorities try to curb them. I am going to discuss here one of such problems that is on the full swing and which have a very much influence in our day to day life and activities in this article.

Traffic jam in big busy cities has been one of such issues which concerns us alot and we are really affected by eat.  Everyday we move out of our houses for our day to day work like offices, schools, colleges, business etc and not to mention there remains a huge amount of pressure in us to reach our destination in time. But the question is how often do we reach our place of work or any other place in time? I am sure many of us would answer that it depends upon the volume of traffic we met on our way. Besides, if we want to reach a place in time then the secondary option and the most assured one that is available to us is that we need to  move out from our home way ahead of the scheduled time. But this too also doesn't help us alot because if we move out of our home earlier there is the possibility that we reach our place or work before the scheduled time and that too adds to the agony because now-a-days time is precious and we don't want to  waste it like that.

Majority of our population daily depends upon the means of transport like public and private buses, mini buses, trams, autos, taxis and even bikes, scooters and private cars to reach our place of work in time. The thing that act as a barrier between us and our destination is Traffic Jam and it stands as a monster or a devil which eats away all our valid time, energy and patience. Very often then not we are caught in a scenario where our vehicle gets fixed all around  with other vehicles with the red traffic signal on  and we need to wait for several minutes before we get a chance to move forward. There are a whole lot of reasons for traffic jams taking place at such an alarming rate and screwing away all our happiness. It could be because of a huge political procession passing by with flags on their hands, or because of some construction going on the by-roads or sometimes because of huge number of vehicles parking at the unwanted side of the road and last but not the least because of the violation of traffic rules. Reasons like a large number of vehicles on the road and the road not being broader is quite an understandable issue and we don't have any control on them as because the vehicles are in huge number because of huge number of  human population. The thing I  intend to say over here is that the reasons which are under our control and we can have a control on them by following some basic steps like illegal parking of vehicles at unwanted or wrong spots on the road should not be entertained and our government and the concerned authorities of the traffic department should take some stern step to curb down this menace. It is also been noticed by many of us that the on duty traffic police is not bothered about the issue of traffic jam and he takes it as if something usually that happens is happening rather than taking the matter seriously and try to clear the traffic as soon as possible. To make matter worse for us they are very often not seen during the peak hours of the day when there are schools and offices and everybody is in hurry.

Though there are traffic signals at the side of most of the big roads but some of them doesn't work properly after the last monsoon. Now the question is that it isn't the dury of the concerned authorites to check it from time to time and repair and maintain them periodically for the smooth functioning of the traffic. Not only they need to repair the ones that are working but to install new traffic signals to curb down the menace of  traffic jam to an extent. We can argue to the fact that  our government and the muncipalities has done a great job so far by constructing fly-overs and building metro railways at the most conjested areas with traffic but attention should be given to those passengers also who doesn't travel much by metro railways or whose route doesn't fall on the route of the metro rail. I think in these areas more number of traffic police should be there to handle the traffic and if that is not possible then more traffic signals in good working condition should be installed in such places. Finally, it should be mentioned to one and all clearly that the vehicles should be parked at proper parking place and if any body found guilty of doing so should be penalised heavily.

To add to the above points, I would like to mention that to curb down the traffic jam problem even we citizens could play a vital role together with the government. We just need to keep some basic things in our mind like we should always follow traffic rules and abide by them either when we are driving or a pedestrian. Always keep your vehicles left when driving and last but not the least avoid overtaking for your own safety and for the safety of others. Besides we should never park our vehicles anywhere on the road but at proper parking places.

Try good to our neighbours

Try good to our neighbours

Neighbour play very important role in our life and we should be lucky to have good neighbours. Our family occupies
a flat in the second floor of the building. There are Twenty-four flats in our building. Of these, the nearest ones
are my right hand neighbours, my opposite neighbours and the one just above me in the third floor. All my
neighbours are nice and I can get along with them quite well.
In the flat on my right, there lives decent and educated couple with their five years old son. This neighbour is mix
freely with others. The husband is engineer in good firm. His wife, however smiling and co-operative.
In front of me there is a Maharashtrian family. There are two children. Their father is a chemical engineer and
mother is teacher in primary school. All of them are busy in their own way and have no time for gossip. They
do not interfere with any other family. If there is a need, childrens are always helpful. This family is hardworking
and sociable.
In strong contrast is my neighbour, right above me on the third floor, the family is nuisance. They are noisy
people, talking loudly to each other at home, switching on their music system on full volume. Sometimes they
would either drag some heavy furniture or drop something heavy. Their childrens playing cricket in balcony, and
shouting loudly. They are very much lacking in good manners. We are just to tolerate everything if we do not
wish to alienate them. However, there is no getting away from the fact that is an emergency, it is the neighbour
who can come to your assistance immediately.
Once a year all the residents go on an excursion to picnic. This helps us to come closer and understand one
another better. Besides, we celebrate festivals jointly. These festivities give us an opportunity to come together
and help us build good neighbourly relations.
